do you have a peddle attached to your set up or are you playing through a mic and a tube amp? i have a solid state amp only 15 watts as my nabour complained so i down graded and a robo hobo mic (possibley cheep crap but moneys a bit shy at the moment) i like playing it just to get use to hearing my own sound but when i put my echo effect peddle on well it's terrible ?? am i using a peddle for a guitarist
Being a harp player myself I can really appreciate the style of blues you play. It's my favorite. Great playing Ronnie. I also find it helpful for my own style. Thanks for posting your good vibes.
both the mic and amp contribute to the tone...if you used a vocal mic through the amp it wouldn't be as dirty as this. if you played just this mic through a pa system it wouldn't be that dirty either
could you give me some tips on blow bending the top notes. I've killed a few harps but am now blowing much more softly, but I still cannor gain much control.
Ronnie, you are crazy good. how do you play a harmonica in different keys? Me and my friend jam together, and he just picked up the harmonica, and i was wonderin if its possible to take a C or G harp and play it in Gb, cause he only has those two, and cant really spring the money for a third one. Thanks
hey ronnie i know you have to breathe from the diaphram for the vibrato. but i just cant seem to get it down right. I use my throat and tounge which sounds ok but i can only go so fast any advice.
It's great to see something like this - I've been a casual blues fan for years, but I learned from this. Many of the amplified harp licks sounded a lot like electric guitar. I was hearing Hendrix, Clapton and Buddy Guy. Ronnie, you come across very well on camera. You should consider longer form videos. I'd definitely watch.
Yo Ronnie, you rock man....how are you changing keys using the same G harmonica? Not a to informative on the technical aspects of music, but I like to mess around with the harmonica on occasion...thanks for the clips man...keep them coming!
wow, if you are not teaching people, u should, very great presonality and it looks like hes a music major but i could be wrong, he knows lots about music and its fun to watch because you can tell hes very passionate!
you are awesome! just one question, cause i dont know anything about harmonica, does it matter that when you are playin you are moving your fingers on your right hand? does that change the sound or something?
man. Last thing I was looking for was harmonica music. I honestly clicked your stuff expecting to laugh. Wow, was I wrong. Your sound is awesome. Thanks for sharing it! I look forward to hearing more. Thanks!
Did somebody teach you how to play, or did you just figure it out on your own? I got a harmonica, and a book, and a CD, but I can't figure out how to do anything... I guess I'm not as skilled as you.
Incredible tone across several different positions on the same harp. Curious, what type of mic did you use in that clip? I am using an old Shure green bullet. Thanks for the clips great to see harp players sharing knowledge.
You rock...very cool how you teach people on here. Your dog is sho shweet by the way! He's looking at you like "daddy? what are you doing?" lol! cuteness...
This is really interesting. I don't think I'd be interested in finding out how to play any other instrument for some reason. I'm glad I found your videos.

Can you explain more on how to change keys with with a harmonica
nuguns 2 years ago
Just bought a used Pignose portable amp on ebay. Got a eggstatic mic. Soon as it arrives, I'll post a trial run. Wish me luck!
ranchosdancingbull 2 years ago
Eggstatics are junk, spend a few bucks and get a nice Shure (or something with a Shure element) and it'll really scream.

is that a regular microphone? is it the mic or amp that gives it that tone? is a specific type of mic essential to get that sound?

Cupping the hand creates an acoustic chamber. 'Flapping' the hand and or fingers is a technique used to create the 'whaa whaa' sound you hear.
