The classes move fast, dump the work, then push you along and demand due dates.
Most of the rules back in High School were pretty stupid as I remember. Their funding goes to the stupidest things like picture day. I always hated that day from Elementary to High School. If your folks want a picture of you take it yourself.

The issue with the teachers forcing students to mark others' tests has been resolved. There is also less pressure on students to do certain things. Make their entire life's desiscions, for example. But as for the people in the states, you need a major governmental reform. Consider elements of socialism and Marxism.
