  • This is lovely! haha Ginger's fall was graceful:)

  • It is strange how the world in black and white looks so full of innocence and beauty.

  • Listen, nobody could teach you to dance in a million years. XD

  • He's so charming!

  • I wiil never get tired of these wonderful movies..Wish life was like that still.

  • :) Fred Astraire is cool.

  • This is soooo fantastic!!

  • F. Rich NYT 1/25/09:

Tuesday, our new pres. did offer one subtle whiff of the Great Depression. His injunction that we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off [from] great songwriter Dorothy Fields, who wrote that lyric for Swing Time ('36),arguably the best of the escapist musicals Hollywood churned out to lift the nations spirits in hard times. But Obama yoked that light-hearted evocation of Astaire and Rogers to a call for sacrifice that was deliberately somber, not radiantly Kennedyesque.

  • one of my favorite of their dance numbers!

  • Lyrics are on the right under info ;)

  • i was so afraid i was the only who caught obama's unattributed quote.

  • Yes: lyrics by Dorothy Fields and music by Jerome Kern

  • President Barack Obama's inaugural speech reference.

"Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start all over again."

  • He even said about Michelle at the ball,"she does everything I do but backwords and in high heels",that is first used for Ginger Rogers about dancing with Astaire ;)It,s a great compliment so to speak ;)

  • Terrific! Thanks, I didn't know that.

    Yes, quite a compliment!

  • Katharine Hepburn first said that quote about Ginger, and I don't think it was meant to be a compliment...

  • not true, it was a comic in a paper just google that sentencense and you,ll get it, and it,s obviously a compliment ;}

  • I've heard it was that too, but I tended to believe that Katharine said it, and it wasn't a compliment, as it made sence since they weren't too fond of each other.

I hope it was just a comic though, I love both Ginger & Katharine :)

  • If you are talking about the quote, "Fred gave Ginger class and she gave his sex," then yes, that was Hepburn. If you are talking about the "Ginger did everything Fred did backwards and in high heels, " that was a comic.

  • i love this song and fred :D

  • there showing swing time, roberta, gay dicorecee!! on channel 48 in canada!!

  • Fred&Gingerr¡¡ 4 evEr¡ i reaallly like this song¡ ^^
