This movie is a reminder that appearances can be deceiving. Just because some people appear to be successful, nice and contented on the outside can be very different behind closed doors. Someone mentioned that the story of the Menendez brothers is similar to this incident dramatized by this movie - I agree. Often abusive, narcissistic parents have a front to make them appearing caring and even charming.

@027220 I agree with you. I don't condone what Brian did. But I also can't honestly say I feel an ounce of pity for the parents. I do feel sorry for Daniel and the injust way he was treated. His life could have been turned around if he had patient and nurturing parents. Brian was a good kid, too. But yet again, being stuck with crazy, controlling parents has destroyed part of his life and tarnished his future. Of course, no one forced him to do what he did. But I still feel sorry for him

how can you raise these kids then throw them out like that. Also werent they adopted? You cant abandone an adoptive child you can abandone your biological child but you cant just give up an adopted child.....at least that is what I was told

What the heck the parents clearly did not know the amount of hard work that goes into raising kids. Brain goes on one date, and the mom wants to send him away. Is that what they do when things get "tough" just keep sending their adoptive kids away. what did the parents expect that they would be stay virgins and un-married forever? This is madness the parents expectations were STUPID and outrageous.

My parents were strict when it came to my education wanting me to get good grades and be the best academically but besides that they let me have my freedom & have a social life they trusted me to do the right thing when hanging out with guy friends. This is extremely weird that Brain was always the good boy growing up yet they still don't trust him. Why couldn't he have ran away with Daniel when given the chance instead of killing his parents? Now he's going to jail & still has no freedom.

@TammyDe no kidding. I was completely surprised at the quality of this movie. I expected it to be mediocre, with a made-for-tv feel, but NPH was awesome, and so was Johnny Galecki. The scene near the end just after the murders where his face is covered in blood was so amazingly creepy it was unbelievable.

Justice served. take the law into ur own hands bc the justice system often fails children of abuse. they just choose a new kid as a fucking bunching bag. this movie just angers me bc i went through abuse.

Japan and other Asian countries have the highest suicide rate among teens, particularly teenage boys. I've read quite a few of your other comments on different videos, what you say sounds intelligent but in fact is the most ignorant comments are based solely on opinion. I work in the social work field and have read countless studies on the effect of abuse.

@teewoods Did you even watch the whole movie? The fact that Brian was an American teenager had nothing to do with the murders. The foster parents were clearly the reason why Brian snapped. And it wasn't because they were criticizing him – well, it was, but it was more because there was no reason for them to criticize him. He had no idea what he was doing wrong.

Those parents were not ready to be parents at all....you trying to tell me because your children start to give a little bit of trouble you should give away your child.....that is madness....ok Yes the son was wrong for killing his parents but his parents was abusive towards them and also arrogant..... The parents should of dealt with the situation differently they are teenagers it is obvious that their son will want to start dating....

Me too. He absolutely snapped as soon as he heard his mom talking about giving him up. That poor child! He saw Daniel being abused and then when Daniel was kicked out of the house, the focus went on him. Brian did NOT want that to happen to Chris if he had to leave because their expectations were way TOO HIGH.
