Oh people, stop arguing,we're not trying to win UFC! Doing it 'cause it's fun and gives me a good workout. Plus you can mix up the classes, and do the ones you like.
Not true that it's the same for everyone, you can always make it more difficult if it's too easy for you...
I have a question both of you, Mangastar1 and usbsol. Do you know the concept of Les Mills? Do you know the concept about BODYCOMBAT? I do BodyCombat almost 6 years, and besides Combat I do also BODYPUMP. I did Teakwando in my early days, but then I get very busy, so I choose for BODYCOMBAT and BODYPUMP. It keeps me fit and strong . And BODYCOMBAT is not only for woman, but also for men. I'm not angry you at all. I saw your comments;). Everyone gets a personal opinion, but keep it real ;)
Hi - I know the LM concept - a franchise one-size fits all fitness solution that makes everyone around the world do the same stuff, to the same music, with the same equipment in really big numbers. No emphasis on technique, because there isn't time since everything is planned down to the second. How can you say that taekwondo is less effecient than body-whatever. I find that very hard to believe. If you want maximal strength and martial skill to go with it - look somewhere else than Les Mills :)
Who is that girl?!? I think she was one of the trainers that my friend had...not sure if that's the right one... don't want to mention any names on here though.

well, fitness isn't a battle, and bodycombat sure as h*** isn't the front line. If you wanna do martial arts, then why don't you do martial arts? This is aerobics wrapped in a martial arts guise. If you wanna be fit, try kettlebells...
Alot of people don't do BodyCombat because they want to do martial arts - they do it because it's a nice change from aerobics or pilates, say.
I don't particulary want to be a boxer, or learn muay thai, or karate, or anything. I just like that it's a good, hard workout, and it burns lots of calories while building small amounts of muscle.
I've never been one of the lycra ladies who enjoys aerobics or whatever. For me, and lots of other people out there, this is more fun :)
Ok - trying hard not to be a hater here:) You want to make the 'martial arts moves' but not learn the art - only the plastic-fitness-factory-reconceptualization of them.
Why is this more fun that aerobics - because it's 'combat' and you get to wear handwraps, even though you hit nothing but air?
They should just call it BodyPlasticLife then I would have no problems with it at all:) Thank you for taking the time to reply:) all the best.
All I'm saying is, for some people it's just something a little different. I personally hate all the aerobics type routines, and prefer combat. I also find I work harder in combat classes. My HRM always shows me to have burned at least 200 -300 calories more than a typical aerobics class.
And I agree with you on the handwraps - no need for them. If an instructor has them on to distinguish themselves, then fair enough, but there's not real reason to be wearing them =/
Punching & kicking, in my view, requires technique, which implies that you should actuallly some of time at least hit something... but my biggest problem with BC is that they rip of centuries old marial arts just because it looks cool... no self-defence value, no mental development value... its a simulation - not the real thing... why not do something real that has a philosophy behind it, as opposed to BCt being cardio wrapped in 'coolness' to make you dig it?
Woow:D !! Very very nice ^^ @ June we get the new release of BodyCombat 36:).
I will enjoy then the video^^ if you want, keep me posted:D My bodycombat website is temporarily (with an underconstruction webpage online) but i hope thay everything is going online for emailtraffic. I cant create at this moment mailadresses;):P But i hope this weekend:)).
