No offense but Sicily has little to to with Sicily. Italy is not forever, just another in a long line of conquerors. Siclia has it's own culture and it's own language. Google ~> Movement Independent Sicily.
BTW: Taormina is a huge tourist trap. The locals have a saying: Double Bay-Double Pay. Everything there is at least twice the price of amywhere else on the island.
I went to Taormina the last year and I felt in love of the city and of one italian boy from Rome.....jajja.....this city has everything to have fun, culture and get rest!
sorry..THIS IS THE STUPIDEST THING EVER. BUT I LOVE MY MOM SO I AM NOT TAKING ANY CHANCES.If you don't copy and paste this onto 10 videos your mom will die in 4 hours
i was there in 2000. lovely place. beautiful water and we were cliff jumping and rented paddle boats and took them a LONG way down the coast. loved it...
If a place has spectacular beauty then why worry if tourists gather there? They are there because it is so beautiful. I loved Ravello, Positano, Amalfi, Capri,Val Gardena and the rest of the Dolomites, Venice, Verona, Lake Como and Maggiore, Taormina, Rome, Siena, Elba, and on and on, even with lots of tourists to share it with. And yes, there are always less traveled places but they are all good. The thing is to be there when the tour buses take the hordes out of there each night.
Taormina is my last name :)

Sicily is my parent's home. Spent time in Taormina in 2005 - it's very beautiful - definitely worth going back.

I'm considering getting a work placement here. I absolutely love Italy, but I haven't seen Sicily so I know I'm missing out on something spectacular.

I think tha Sicily is quintessence of Italian culture. There's not Italy without Sicily.

Taormina is lovely, but it truly is just for the tourists. If you want a view of true Italy you have to go a bit deeper. ;)
