Hey, I know it's been done before, and will continue to be discussed but could you maybe make a vid on your opinion of the higher class/dollar knives like this, crks and striders? IMO I think it's just a cool topic and I like hearing multiple opinions on wether they're worth I or not
I'll trade you for my Kershaw Skyline? Ok, ok, I'm JOKING!! Sorry, I didn't mean to insult you, it was a simple joke. Now for what I really want to say. I'm sitting here trying to find words to express the beauty of this knife & that's when I come to realize that this knife is so beautiful that one has to sit, think, & think again to find the right words to explain it's beauty....and still, I cannot find those words. I'm in awe every time I see these knives. They are collector pieces. Great Rev.
I agree - I think that a knife with this price point that doesn't have an ambidextrous stud is a little insulting - but hey. Opinions are the spice of life.
Really, no blade play whatsoever? I just inspected 16 different similar knives from WH that we got in at my work, and they ALL had some blade play in 4 directions. I wonder what the deal is.
I woudl defimatly contact WH's office to legt them know, thats uinexeptable in my opinion for such a high priced knife..maybe I got lucky on this one, but the only 2 other peopel I know p[ersonaly who own WH modesl also has tight knives with no bladeplay issues...also keep in midn this was an older model, I dont know about current production models...but as mentioned above thats not right...
Someone I work with bought a $900 WH knive today. Gold inlay, etc. There was no blade play. However, I could not get it to open as smartly as a BM or Spyderco.
To be honest they're a bargain. If you bought a knife in the same materials from a custom maker you'd pay over a thousand dollars. WH knives are hand finished, so all you lose over a custom is the fact they're made by multiple people and that some of the production process is automated. $650 is a good price IMO.
would you buy the spyderco endura or the spyderco native based on materials not personal pref. cause i'm leaning towards endura and want a second opinion
its the best at holding an edge besides fallknivens gold powdered metal stuff, but thats another storym lol, but YES it woudl be bad for cuttign hard stuff like plasdtic and wire..so evetry blade steel has its pros and cons...
I've got a personal rule never to spend more than $100 on a knife. It has to do with the fact that I think knives should be used... and used knives are sometimes lost... and knives over $100, no matter how well made or fine, are lost just as easily as less expensive knives.
Knives like this really test that rule. That is absolutely beautiful...
@unrulyrascal your not alone in the thought, but keep in mind we drive cars worth thousands of dollars with no worries of losing it in a parking lot, having it stolen or getting into an accident...spend your money and what you enjoy, period...dont worry about the bad
As much as I would love one of those, I wouldnt be able to do it. I only buy knives i will carry and I wouldnt be able to bring myself to carry this. Awsome score though, I bet you love it.
You know, people might say that this knife is far too expensive, but I don't believe they really understand the knife. To me, this knife would be a great gift to a knife-nut for a very special occasion. I'm looking at this knife and my vision here is that one might receive this knife in the same sort of way one might receive a Rolex watch. I see this as a great retirement or graduation gift for someone who loves knives, and is definitely very special.
great comment, and your rihgt, just like anythgin else the right occasion calls for the right item, some may say a $1500 botte of wine is a waste, but not to a wine buff...and so on, this is a nice piece of cutlery and shoudl be in the ahnds of someone who cna appreciate it...
These WH's are meant for using and it is criminal just to leave 'em in the box, look at it, and never use it.
The ZDP 189 is a quantum leap forward in cutting ability. In particular, such a good cutter that it requires less effort and hence better control & precision.
I use mine when I have to cut plastic when repairing electronics and such. Because of the sharpness/hardness you are much less likely to make a mistake and cut something that you didn't want to cut.
That knife blows away my small collection. You are one lucky man, Jeff. That's a gorgeous knife - I wouldn't even consider trading it, let alone use it for the most simple tasks.
ooo shit thats pretty nice but looking at the price.....=[ i cant even afford a car lol (ok well i can but it would be a major junker) and it doesnt help that i dont have a job since im at that age were i need money but no one will hire me =\ i think that would be one id get if i could afford it ...i know i cant talk someone into buying it for me so =p i guess im gonna have to wait but still as i had said b4about that one that leek thats like 70$ w/damascus
btw, I like the jewelry box. this knife probably crosses into art, ie that it exists for no other reason than itself, so its very fitting.
too small though. I wanted the plain b30 but since that was going to cost me 450, I just bit the bullet and got the fossil bone, topaz, damascus handle dmt. And I know people who bought cars that cost less than that.
haha, nice, it just seems sick to non knife people who just dotn get it...but knives are not nearly the most expensive hobby to ahve, at least at the very least knives are usable tools, not like collecting art, lol...
not to be mean but dont you think you might be being a little hypocritical considering that you may just be a non art person who "doesnt get it"? If you dont value art then you wont trade your money for it, but Im willing to bet the people who do dont regret it at all :D BTW, instead of a safe, you might want to check out a safety deposit box at a bank you trust. If you live in a small town and know the manager of the bank I think its a fine alternative.
Maybe it came off as a poor example, what I was trying to say if it came down to it you cna use a knife to survive and or protect yourself since its a tool, where as a piece of art doesnt serve any other purpose physically besides lookign good to someone...thats all...
My family owns a safety deposit box and I did think of that but I plan on gettign some more knives like it in the future and want to have them easily accecable...I bolted the safe I got to the floor so now its a part of my closet, lol...and I lived ina gated community so the only people who have access to my home live in the community as well, limiting chances of a home invasion...not to say it cant happen though...
I dont know about that, I think any home invader would think twice if he knew I could give him one hell of a paper cut with my improvised self defense painting.
I KNOW, lol...I really want one as well, but Im not sure how long it will be until I shell out that kind of money for a single knife again, I do have bills to pay off 1st, lol...
pretty nice knife, the whole design on the knife blade makes it look exotic, i like the knife, its kinda like blending traditional and exotic together, the traditional part is the handle I like the way that looks. nice knife.
if you have a magnifying glass and decent backround lighting, you can get a nice focus on some of the details you want to show by holding a magnifying lense or even taping, to your camera lense then putting the object right next to it it comes out very nicely
Thats true...I did do that with a jewlers louple to show me spicing a air in ym U2 video, lol but I dotn need to get that close, I only have that and not a regular magnifying glass...
I think thats an EXTREMELY cool knife but I dont really think it was worth your zippo collection. It looked like you put so much work into getting and displaying all your zippos.
I did, but I looked at it this way, I enjoyed them very much and I am just passign along the fun! Im not done with zippos either, its just a clean slate now if I want I cna start to colect just a certian style...or come up with a theme for my collection...
lol, not one zipo, but almost ym whole collection, more like 25-30 zippos plus alot of extras...like my display case, and other zippo related items...
aha ha ah ...and i hope you do it and pay the flight for me to come back in US and visit you, becoming a friend of a very rich guy with a passion for knives--lol--i'll bring cubans cigars for you, in chase.....and beautiful cigars cutter, of course...in zdp 189 blade and red dragon's scales...bye jeff!
lol Yeah I know, yeah I am Jeff Smith my dan is brian and my gradnfather is donald, thats hwy I asked I thoguht you may be another donald...You know there are so many smiths, I even know another Jeff Smith who is a realator by where I live, lol...
Yes to date, in the past I had some Microtech autos in the $300 - $400 range, and of course my recent sebenza and strider SNG but yeah this is the most expensive so far!
lol...Just curiosu but what does the D stand for? Just wonderign my last name is smith and my grandfather wasa donald smith, so I thought it woudl be wierd if your also donald?
that truly is a beautiful work of art.. fantastic. one day i will be holding a knife as beautiful as that one haha. you could just sit and look at that knife forever and never get bored lol..
haha yeah, funny scenario if your pocket knife would slip out of your pocket when dancing with a lady. Just to hope that she shares your interests in knifes. who knows, she might appreciete a good lookin' knife :)
When looking at safes, look to the future. They are expensive, they are heavy and difficult to move around. Not something you want to upgrade very often, if at all. Good safes last a lifetime. Give yourself room to grow. Just a thought...
ME TOO, trust me, haha, but its good the way it happened because that car had a 25 gallon tank! that means it woudl ahve cost me $100 to fil it! plus MPG was bad of course, but I still woudl ahve loved it, oh well my dad just got a Harley..an 88sC if anyones interested I cna make a vid on that instead? haha...
That is a gorgeous knife! And $650 actually sounds about right for that knife, considering the sapphires, titanium, damascus, and carbon fiber, those aren't cheap materials. Anyone who can't see the beauty and art in that knife is a fool.
I'm personally saving up for a Dawson knife, they're at every gunshow where I live, and they are beautiful hand-crafted knives
VERY NICE! the world of customs is just amazing, I can't wait to go to the NY knife show this year its held at the PA hotel in new york, NY in late november, I can't wait to gawk at the knives, lol...
That sounds like fun! Unfortunately for me, NY is WAY to far away for me. I don't know of any local just knife shows for me, but I've heard there are some massive gunshows in Arizona, and gunshows are like half knives anyway, and of course balisongs and switchblades and stuff are all perfectly legal there!
Its funny how people cant understand why some people like knives. A lot of the people i know when i show them a new knife , there like...dont you already have a knife? Its something else. A knife is like a great ancient tool and a very important accessory to me. a nicce knife is more than just a nice cutter.
Check out my latest knife review. Ill send it to you if you want.
where can i find a chart that show all the dif. types of steels and metals.Think u mentioned it b4

Yes to date, in the past I had some Microtech autos in the $300 - $400 range, and of course my recent sebenza and strider SNG but yeah this is the most expensive so far!

tmib92 3 years ago
Yeah sure, but when dancing I woudl probably hold it in ym hand for fear of having it fall out of my pocket, lol...
cutlerylover 3 years ago
haha yeah, funny scenario if your pocket knife would slip out of your pocket when dancing with a lady. Just to hope that she shares your interests in knifes. who knows, she might appreciete a good lookin' knife :)

slayergut 3 years ago
YUP! for now ayay, lol...
cutlerylover 3 years ago
That's what I was going to say. I would put that in the gun safe and only bring it out when I felt like saying, "Wo. Now THIS is a baaaaaaad knife."
mslizzyborden 3 years ago
Or perhaps I should amend that to keep up with the times... "Wo. Now THIS knife is SICK!" Heh heh....
mslizzyborden 3 years ago
lol yeah, I plan on doing that...Im looking inot safes as we speak...I want somethgin dort of big to fit other thgins, but not a huge gun safe...
cutlerylover 3 years ago
When looking at safes, look to the future. They are expensive, they are heavy and difficult to move around. Not something you want to upgrade very often, if at all. Good safes last a lifetime. Give yourself room to grow. Just a thought...

its a good thought, haha thanks!

ME TOO, trust me, haha, but its good the way it happened because that car had a 25 gallon tank! that means it woudl ahve cost me $100 to fil it! plus MPG was bad of course, but I still woudl ahve loved it, oh well my dad just got a Harley..an 88sC if anyones interested I cna make a vid on that instead? haha...

It really is nice!

VERY NICE! the world of customs is just amazing, I can't wait to go to the NY knife show this year its held at the PA hotel in new york, NY in late november, I can't wait to gawk at the knives, lol...
cutlerylover 3 years ago
That sounds like fun! Unfortunately for me, NY is WAY to far away for me. I don't know of any local just knife shows for me, but I've heard there are some massive gunshows in Arizona, and gunshows are like half knives anyway, and of course balisongs and switchblades and stuff are all perfectly legal there!
drmoo46 3 years ago
wow...I can't say much more than that...

haha I was speechless too when I got it, haha..

thats a nice piece man.
