@daskillzthatkillzz thx! my english is not good (I can't uderstand without subtitles) so I didn't ear them speaking about this. thx a lot for the news and have a very nice day to you all!
Lol at "it didn't sound very happy to me". I highly doubt the cat is self-aware about its fluorescing. I most likely just wanted attention after being kept in that cramped cage.
meh, they should make cats that glow in the dark regardless of UV lights. In fact they should make them flash colours for a rainbow effect. Also make them just around like bunnies.
So much propaganda. :/ Editing the audio so a cat meowing sounds louder than the report. Like saying "Wow, look how unhappy and in pain this cat is in from glowing in the dark. Must be a crime against nature."
Pisses me off. It's great that this can even be accomplished. Report that, don't bleed your BS ethics views into the presentation.
Gene modification is very dangerous as it is impossible to foresee the unintended consequences that will occur decades from now. The danger is intensified because once you began altering human DNA you can NEVER, and I mean never, go back. In 500 years we might end up losing the ability to reproduce or something worse all because of gene modification done in our lifetimes to humans.
There are many fictional stories of races dying off after hundreds of years of gene modification or cloning.
@anonymous3227 Do the dangers (which can be minimised) out weigh the benefits though? Just because there are risks involved doesn't mean it shouldn't be explored.
Ummm, did you not even read my post!? YES! The risks most certainly DO outweigh any possible benefits. I specifically said that altering human DNA/genes on a wide scale CAN result in the extermination of our entire species in 500-5000 years (or any number of thousands of years). It is impossible to foresee the long-term, generational effects of DNA manipulation.
Please note I said this is only a possibility with wide-range DNA altercation, not if only a few people have it done.
@anonymous3227 Your assuming the human race will survive another 500-5000 years. I think the situation is very complicated and saying straight out that its too dangerous is not the proper approach. The fact is gene therapy could save mankind and I don't think serious, wide scale gene modification is something that will be jumped into without considering the serious risks.
Actually history teaches us that time and time again we, as humans, make decisions without considering the possible long term unintended consequences. Even with the best intentions and precautions humans have a way of doing things which become disasters in the years following. I am not against gene therapy/modification for the purpose of healing illness. However, I do not think that wide-scale gene modification should ever be used for any purpose.
Guys, you do know if you cross species genetically (not hybrid, but gene splice) you open up a whole new world of illness and cross species disease possibilities?
I figure if we have the tools and the know how lets explore it, rather than give it no space at all. We should be confident in an area of science so much so that there are applications that cause no negative longterm effects, nothing to damage everything already in balance but instead to increase it's chance of survival. One thing I can tell you is most of these diseases the human body can contract are NOT natural, if they were natural they wouldn't be killing us, half the time we need medicine.
@Utalk234 yea you could do that, when your government strips your dna with gmo foods and barium chem trails and u begin to glow in the dark, you can say well thats ok i know how to spell lmafo fuck outta here lame
We're supposed to feel guilty for exhaling carbon dioxide and pay carbon taxes to the global banksters while they fund super colliders, glow in the dark monkeys and cats, salmon that will make normal salmon extinct within 40 years, spliced enviropigs, GMO foods pushed into the market without long term testing and not labeled at the supermarket...the list goes on. These people are destroying the natural biology of the planet all the while posing as the saviors of the earth.
WTF!!!!!! Get the hell outta here! Humans are becoming too much like gods and I don't know if that's good or not. There is very little that we can't do, which is scary. lol
Yeah and think of all the thousands of other cats that didn't make it thru the testing process. It's horrifying what people will do to animals. No regard for the creature who's life is to be unwillingly sacrificed. It's like an animal holocaust going on and no one even cares... "oh, look, they glow in the dark!" Humanity is a myth.
I don't feel as though there are a huge amount of health risks for the cats with this. its just a simple DNA manipulation. they do this with fruit flies all the time and it doesn't cause adverse effects. the DNA code is universal, so as a whole this isn't a far cry from the fly tests. it shouldn't harm them so long as they're only manipulating the proper genes. if they aren't then there would definitely be issues. but nowadays that's unlikely
they did it a second time by taking the dna of a rare sestar that glows in the dark and put it into the eggs of a cat and a couple months later= glow in the dark kitties
This is so cruel:( Poor pretty kitty's, they all must share a small cage and be tested on... I don't see how a glow in the dark cat can help fight off cancer nor do I see how it can help a human being o.O'
And, if a genetic coding can be injected into a egg and implanted back into the mother cat, we may have a way to alter the genes of our children, immunizing them to diseases such as the hand foot mouth disease. And removing disorders such as cancer and a risk of heart attack.
if scientists didn't use animals to for testing, should they use humans instead? lol. All this is for a good cause so I don't see why the fuss. Many cures and treatments to infectious and terminal diseases were tested on animals before used on humans. Diseases like H1N1, chicken pox, diabetes, high cholesterol, cancer, leukemia, etc. Would humans have been a better choice to test on?
it's just a simple thing ya know? it's like if they can manipulate genes to do something as simple as glow, then you can eventually manipulate genes to do other things rather then just glow. Pointless? to some i'm sure, but if they can do something as simple as make a cat glow by manipulation of the genes when they clone them, then they can make them faster, stronger, have a super immune system, and eventually we try this with human clones. understand? maybe it's not so pointless...
They plan to use this to make human cancer cells glow. Imagine Only your cancer cells to light up like a christmas tree how easy would it be for doctors to remove or fight cancer when they know exactly where it is.
this is only valid if you can modify the original cancer cell, and if you know where the cancer is already. so i think the benefits would be marginal, except to track where it is spreading (which is already doable).
this is the start, we cant jump to extreme modding of dna without this more simple steps..have faith in 10 years you wont believe what you will be seeing
That's quite a presumtive opinion. Are you saying that any form of having a pet is cruel?
And I don't think they look unhappy. They are a good weight, have good quality coats, are eating and drinking, not scared of humans or defensive. What makes you say they look unhappy?

Just an example but,If somehow beings greater than us came to earth and could experiment on us would you be willing to do it? You would have no choice, but would you like it?

I see a lot of suffering and I see a lot of injustice in this video.
