he run the last 100m in 9.07 because he didn't waste any time reacting to the gunshot(he had done it 200m before)and because he didn't start with a speed of 0 km/h but with 30km/h or whatever

@subtylul It was later to be changed to the real time..he did not really run a 9.07..plus the fact that there is a stagger on this the time would not be accurate in any sense..he did NOT run 9.07..if he did he would have easily broken the record or gotten a faster 200m split time atleast..
@badmanvivien the splits are wrong because they start from a staggered start so it is most likley measuring the time for the lane 8 runner who had 2 only run 80m

@RHOTISSERIE Yeah, it was a shocking performance but I don't see the big deal, he ran faster and he is not on drugs so..........the year after that he ran a 9.58. The 10 second flat or more races he wasn't even really running as good as he is now, his start use to be very poor and before the Beijing Olympics he started doing strength training instead of just doing speed workouts which could be another explanation of his good performances. That 9.69. in a year did surprise me though.
@RHOTISSERIE Bolt was never a quick starter either but his start has improved due to practice and training, but Bolt has great endurance and his stride is better so I knew sooner or later he was going to get that record. A big man should not be able to run like that especially with long legs like that moving that fast but I think if he trained for the 300m and the 400m for a year and stay healthy that will be more records under his belt. He has the 100, 150, and 200, he need to get the other 2.

Michael Johnson's final 100m of his 43.18 WR was 11.52 and thats coming off a 31.66s 300m split, there's no way an 11/12s 100m is possible after a flat out 30.97s 300m, going by that logic MJ would be well under 43 considering he still holds the 300m WR with 30.85. And Bolt's 400m PB is 45.28.

@gangstaRJbal yeah you don't necessarily need a great 400m to be great in 200m. There are many 100m/200m specialists like Ato Boldon (19.77) and Maurice Greene (19.86) who've never even run a 400m at the world class level before. I'm not sure how old you are but it's hard to say what you'll run in the future, all depends on how you much improve and when you peak.
@phastman1994 now the thing is that im not being cocky im 15 right now in grade 11 but in grade 8 i had run a 14.96 100, 29 200, and 1.05 400m, then i trained hard and at 14 yrs age tarck i ran in june 12.69 100, 26.12, 200m, 1.01.2, now this year in grade 10 end 11.8 100m, 24.1 200, 53 400( sorry no cocky) but yeah im sure i am peeking becuz about 2 months ago in june my 60 m was 7.7 and then 100m 11.7 now 60m is 7.2 last month so what do you think u think i can break a 20 barrier by age 18
@gangstaRJbal It's rare to go sub 20 as a junior, I believe only Bolt has done it, he still holds the 200m world junior record with 19.93. I can't really predict your future 200m time, some people will start off breaking records at a young age and never improve visa versa, its possible tho
@gangstaRJbal Seriously need 2 consider your view on sub 20 by the age of 18. Bolt was the first 18 yer old to do this running 19.93 in 2002. Your times are ok but nothing amazing and certainly on no progression course for a sub 20 ever.

I don't think Bolt split 19.83 at 200 meters. Look at when he crosses the 250m line, the time is the 25.4. So that means that if the 19.8 was correct, he ran the 200-250 segment in 5.6 and then he speeds up and ran the 250-300 segment in 5.5. I don't know about you guys, but that seems very unlikely to me. I think it was probably more around 20.1, then the next 50 in 5.3 and the last 50 in 5.5.

When Bolt established the 200m wr in 19.19, acording to the iaaf, bolt did 9.92 in the 1st 100 meters.
if he ran the 100m in 9.07 he would probably reach the 200 meters mark in 17.55 seconds.

He did this in rain and he only came one tenth short of the world record, it doesn't matter what distance he runs under 400m he's gonna blow out the field it's actually kind of unfair how great he is.

imagine if he'd timed his run properly?...h'ed have gone 30.5s. He cruises to 100m to go, then goes for it.. not the best way to make sure you are spent. would love to see him go at 95% and then bring it home..

do you all even realize what you are saying? 9.07 is obviously wrong. 19.83 isn't right either, there's no way he ran that last 100 in only 11.1 because he was still pulling away.
the splits were probably closer to 9.9 through 100 and 20.1-20.2 through 200.

Bolt could have run 30.50. Ostrava was a wet track and NOT at altitude. Combine a fast dry track and less air-resistance at altitude and bolt would be 30.30 - 30.50.

In athletics if it is timed manually then the officials go off the sight of the smoke from the gun as that is actually when the gun goes and the race starts. And so the reason the timer goes off before the gun is because light travels faster than sound. Hence the delay between the gun smoke and sound. This and the fact this video could be dodgy as well shows that he definately did not cheat. Besides this was timed electronically anyway most likely so it'll be bob on.

@globos123456789 I say your probally right but, He has ran 9.58 before and, his speed, starting, and endurance have all improved so, I wouldn't be suprised if he ran 9.07. He so young and has many years to improve so you should expect him to get a 9.07 eventually.

@epicsamp95 It's hard because he was really tired. Michael Johnson got 30.85 on the 300m but his best 400m is 43.18 so yeah.
