I have notice the bows(Yumi) in the old time are different from present, broader and much stronger. And the shooting style is also different from now, The "old school" Yumi technique diliver an arrow much faster then now. Japenese Yumi is so weak today... Some great techniques are abandoned today and Yumi bows used now are too weak.... You have to remember, a Yumi is a WEAPON, treat it like one!!
@yokhua yodays yumi isnt treated like one, no, is a medium for a sort of meditative excercise as i understand it. whereas in europe and elsewhere archery is about getting the target, a test of skill.
@elgostine these characters you mentionede of Yumi has been added less then one hundred years ago..According the war records in Ming dynasty. back then Yumi bows were extremely powerful. extremely heave to draw.using ultra heavy arrows. and shoot in quite short distance...It was lethal. Even more back then, an archery game practice in Japan which shoot in a corridor in a range of 120m for a whole day. 8,000 to 1,0000 arrows been shot by 120 pound Yumi bow. It is really powerful
