@rordorica Thanks! That's an understatement! That was THE place to be in London in the 20's! Can you imagine what a night in the ballroom would have been like there?!
@VictrolaJazz Savoy Hotel first hotel to have electricity in every room and first hotel to have running hot water in each suite..The bands wages were the world's highest until Whiteman took over..The Friday night masquerade ball was Europe's most lavish and extravagent...Money was no object at the Savoy in the 1920s
@davidglow3 Somehow doesn't surprise me a bit! It was where Princess Ludwig Lowenstein-Wertheim, at 62, first made her interest known in attempting to be the first lady to fly west to east. She showed up on the morning of the flight and joined pilot and co-pilot Leslie Hamilton and Dan Minchen in Sept. of '27. The St. Raphael had progressed over half way across the Atlantic and made contact with a steamer, but the Newfoundland fog rolled out to sea shortly after and they were lost.
Love it ,, it really is a hot, hot tune, great energetic arrengement, I can imagine the sophisticated people dancing at this at the Savoy in London.

Don't ever set up a Victrola next to a volcano to play this song. It will erupt!

I should find a way to harness the energy of these hot dance records to heat the house and replace the electricity.
