  • was that a thermometer?? it looks a little warmer than -4

  • @creamyfilling102 Yes,it's a non-contact infrared thermometer.Looks like some parts closer to the sun-warmed door were showing a warmer reading, but I believe the engine block itself was still showing about -4C

  • My grandfather got a kohler 12 horse gas engine out of of a thermoking

  • ive got a thermo king refer engine but i dont know what size or make its is its a 4cyl. are they usually a common size or were there many different ones?

  • @danielhattie2000 I believe most of these trailer reefers are 4cyl,engines can be Isuzu,Mercedes and Yanmar of similar size branded with Thermo King,my Isuzu has a name plate on the valve cover.

  • @photocontrol mine just says themro king. im gonna go look it over to see what it is.

  • Most of them seem to be 2.2L DI 4 cylinders. I believe they are about 40hp.

  • @torque395 wow i didnt think it'd be that much. and theres 2 throttle set screws. would you know how much faster i could make it rev without ruining it?

  • @danielhattie2000 I think they will run to 3,000 rpm safely. The throttle set screws are high speed and low, high speed is set to 2200 from the factory but should be able to go to 3000 easy.

  • @danielhattie2000 I was a bit off on the HP. The C201 like what I have is 28hp and the DI 2.2 is 35. I wasnt off much, but was a little. They are detuned from the factory so 40hp wouldnt be unreasonable to expect from it with a little tuning.

  • @danielhattie2000 Look for a number on the side of the block. Mine has C201 stamped into it, that is the model.

  • @danielhattie2000 most are 6 cyl and old tk's used isuzu, but know they use yanmar

  • Yeah it's a good size engine, the compressor in there to pressurize the refrigerant is large too.The smaller reefer units you see on smaller refrigerated delivery trucks have 2 cylinder diesels in them.

  • nice i never new the engine in onne of those was so big, i thought it would be like 1 cylider 10 horse
