  • Not a prodigy, but she will be great one day! Quite an undertaking for ANY kid under 10!

  • à 7 ans je rentrais au conservatoire, elle, elle joue mendelssohn.... je vais me jeter par la fenêtre

  • wow! it's good,I know it's difficulty!!!

  • tu bouge trop dommage

  • @theviolinmaster99 no she did not murder it she came close to ruining it. She needs to work on smoother bow technique. And she needs to make more subtle movements. Listen to Shlomo Mintz. He really murders it. Anyway, there is harder than this. Say, Bruch or Tchaikovsy. It's not the hardest out there. Stop simpering because this child is being brought up with Chinese methods and has to give up her life to practice 4 hours a day.

  • Child cruelty. I have played this, but I am 13 and take lessons with Robert Chen! She is too young.

  • She is too young to play this!We can all hear it!Her teacher is probably asks too much.I mean, there is alot of thinks to work on.Her right hand is very very stiff.About left hand:should work on vibrato definitely and on articulation...maybe I'm wrong but, that's what I hear.I'm a violinist too.Basicly, DON'T PLAY ANY PIECE THAT'S TOO HARD FOR YOU.I don't want to be mean, this was a very good advice.

  • you may think she is a prodigy and all... but she is SEVEN YEARS OLD playing one of the HARDEST violin concerto's out there. jeez, whats with parents these days. obviously you see she has talent, but to play mendelssohn violin concerto e minor at seven, i dont think so

  • @mrbeng111 Mendelssohn is one of the easiest violin concertos out there :P

  • lovely!

  • wao is the first world that comes to my mind watching such as wonderful girl, and how well she plays the piano....so perfection for such age..i mean the cotrol she have with the violin, that pressicion she got.. i apreciate the 8:05 min...puff :P

  • wao is the first world that comes to my mind watching such as wonderful girl, and how well she plays the piano....so perfection for such age..i mean the cotrol she have with the violin, that pressicion she got..

  • The playing was great, but your movements were quite strange (no offense)!

E Minor is a very difficult key to play in. Great job!

    Keep play.....your shifting is amazing.

  • ...and she's not asian?!?!!!

  • she looks like a mini hilary hahn :)

so cute! you are definitely talented! id love you hear you play in a couple of years ^__^

  • the violin is too big ....but awesome

  • wow, for your age you are vERY GOOD! Keep it up and impress your parents!

  • Pre. Typo

  • You know who also moved around a lot? JacQueline DuPrae.

  • STOP MOVING, plz'-'

  • Definitely a prodigy. I hope that she's still continuing to play her violin because I see a bright future infront of her. This video was recorded 3 years ago, so I wonder how talented and more amazing she is now :):)

    Keep up the good work!

    -- Haelin

  • @dottiedal281 She just released a new video of Wieniawski. Intonation gets better now.

  • outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I absolutly love this video. i always come back and watch it :)

  • she moves too much lol

    but wow she's good

  • She is playing piano with her feet.

Thats why constantly jumping around, while looking on the ground.

  • Absolutely amazing! I am so envious of her talent. You are 3 years older now! I bet you are even more amazing!

  • Amazing. Simply amazing. I have nothing more to say.

  • seven?!?!?!? I'd have to say she's a prodigy. It's pretty good too lol, probably better than I could do (I want to play this soon). :p

  • too much vibrato but very good

  • well it's not beautiful to hear but one needs to admit that she is obviously talented. She seems to be passionate and she does have some skills for a 7 seven year old girl.

  • leave the girl alone. Y dont u play it huh. Shes good. Way better than u

  • Oh my God!!!! I love children and she is amazing!!! AMAZING! Wow! She will become a FANTASTIC and BEAUTIFUL violinist!!! *_* I'm in love with her!! She's an angel!

  • she shouldnt be playing this piece...

  • this girl has great potential, but no offence but i dont like the way she moves from foot to foot and keeps bobbing around

  • @sk8rgrrl123 that's too bad, watch Julia Fischer play, she moves. too.

  • @devoutpower but fischer knows what she's doing, and why,... you really can't compare it! i think, sk8rgrrl123 is right. you have to stay in controll of your moving, of course you do it for expression sometimes, but this looks like she has just become used to it... one bar left side, one bar right side, one bar left, one right.... tap tap tap ;)

  • Some kids get pieces to learn them...and some get pieces to murder them. She just murdered Mendelssohn...

  • @theviolinmaster99 as you do sorry.

  • she is too young to play Mendelssohn...I mean you can't preforme something if you can't handle it...I'm sorry...too young...

  • @MagicalTalesOfWolves i totally agree. She prob has no life just practicing. its good though but need a bit of work on intonation

  • Comment removed

  • not bad, truly, this girl has talent. Still, what I see and hear in this video lacks professional style as one might call it. Anyway, good job, keep rocking

  • she's moving so much I thought she was going to fall other, but that was so amazing....

  • wtf

  • Lovely child, She obviously loves her violin.

So she can move around all she wants.

Cannot wait to hear her when she is a little older

  • she's soooo damn adorable!!!

  • sounds great(:

    really proud of her

let her move, she is feeling

the music :) love her already!

  • @l0lzitsalex hey alex itz nubia;) this gurl is gud.

  • Made me dizzy just watching... It's normal to move whilst playing but don't sway so much... it doesn't help with the intonation. Good attempt though.

  • Completely wonderful!

  • wow!

  • STOP WAVING AROUND!!! great playing still :)

  • Please, stop your body... i don't understand anything... but good performace.... :)

  • Holy O.O that's just incredible! I can't believe what i'm seeing, HAHAHA. How remarkable!

  • This girl is very good for her age. Once she grows into her violin, I think her intonation wil improve greatly. My only question is how does a teacher of such a student teach such a strange bow hold and let her move like that?

  • @mrsherman109 From what I can tell, she's holding the bow more or less properly. My guess is that, as she's so small, she has to compensate with her grip.

And most of the musicians I know sway a lot, I do when I get into my music.

I went to school with an advanced pianist and his swaying was off the charts: his hand movements looked like he was about to hit him self, lol.

I agree with the intonation comment - once she's older she will gain insight into her playing and various techiniques.

  • Stop your body, please...

  • That violin is no ordinary 4/4... she's playing a professional violin. I can tell from hearing the quality and tone.

  • If this real this is the most amazing thing i have ever seen

  • Is that just me or her bow hold is off and her index finger is holding the bow on the wrong joint?

    ----

Aside from that, you did really well :)

  • i STARTED 7 years old, now I'm learning this piece 17 years old omg, u have a long way to go kid, this is brilliant,

  • too early..

  • WOW, a little rough, but that can be ignored! amazing :) i hope she doesn't lose interest, because she's got insane potential.

  • Oh my gosh.

She will be great when she grows older.

  • Good job kid! Keep it up!

  • Very good played for that age.

This Concerto was my "door" to violin music (at the age of 3 as my mother told me later).

By the way: nice to see children who are interested in classical music and doing something reasonable away from computer and tv.

  • Looks like they started her out on a 4/4 early.

    Nice work with the playing!

  • Fantastic! On her way to being a pro! It doesn't matter if she's a little robotic, she has her notes down and can always perfect the style later. Love it!

  • But who is she?

  • Very very good vibrato supported by ears with good musical sensitivity! Wonderful bowing technique!

  • oh my gosh shes great for her age

  • finaly a good violinst on you tube. if only i wasnt so camera shy.

  • then record the audio xP

  • Wonderful! I can tell she really feels the piece instead of just playing it mechanically. Methinks it has something to do with the music. I always look like a robot playing Bach, but give me Mendelssohn or Brahms or even Bartok, and I suddenly start to feel the music. I'm proud of her for playing on that violin too! I can tell the size is a bit much, but the sound is totally worth it! This is one prodigy who is definitely so much more than just the parents' whip.

  • what are you trying to say about bach's music? maybe this reveals something more about your lack of comprehension than it does about bach

  • perhaps. I just don't get what's so "amazing" about a lot of the super-structured stuff he wrote. That doesn't go for all his works, obviously. I do love *attempting* to play the Partitas. But in general I connect more with Romantic and Contemporary composers.

  • Just here to enjoy this wonderful performance one more time!

  • Boy? This is clearly a young girl. It even says under the description: 7 year old girl... She was awesome. Good job!

  • She is so amazing.

And I just love you can actually tell she's ENJOYING what she's playing, not being so uptight about making mistakes and caring about what other people think about her.

It's something I really need to work on when I'm recording myself (which I haven't done in a long time).

I get all nervous and care too much about what other people think.

  • She moved me. =)

  • THIS IS AMAZING!! although don't move around so much, a skill i need to work on as well

  • This is gorgeous.

  • Well said coffee! ^_^

  • I guess we all see and react to things according to who and what we are. When I see this child perform, I am filled with joy. I see the greatness in her and the potential. I see her happiness, and I see the evidence of devotion on the part of her parents and teachers. Her "shortcomings" do not immediately register with me as "faults", because I see

them not as faults but as skills which are in the early stages of mastery.

  • OK, I am changing my opinion. I think you are right. Music is joy, and the joy is definately there. Perhaps I am just focusing on the wrong things. "Half full vs half empty". This child clearly has the joy in playing music and I/we should appreciate and applaud that above all else. My hope is that she continues to improve and not lose this joy. Bravo, young lady!

  • Her intonation is about 98 % spot on. As a teacher I think her overall tone is very very good. The music has a wonderful flow and I feel comfortably carried along by it. Her apparent shortcomings would only be a reason NOT to study and post the Mendlessohn if she were an established concert violinist. However this happy child is only a student. She looks like she just came in from playing in the yard. The recording probably took place at her teacher's studio.

  • For justwarren: You see, I think that in this child's case, having her study the Mendlessohn was "good pedagogy. Look at all the details. Her overall musicianship is terrific. Technically she is beautifully trained. Her bow grip will "move down" as she gains arm strength. Her application of scale technique is awesome. The vibrato is coming along nicely. The exaggerated 'moving about' is a great temporary way to get very young players to loosen up and move with the underlying meter.

  • I see that I have 11 "negatives" and my comment seems to have been removed! Wow! I guess I struck a cord. I didn't mean anything against this child, personally or musically. I hope this will not evoke anyone's ire, but what about tone? Lots of notes here, but the intonation is just not right at several key points in the peice. What is violin performace without tone? What do you think about that, coffeeforcreature?

  • Although a bonafide prodigy, she is a child, and like every other child she is a "work in progress". I am judging from her appearance that this little sprite cannot weigh more than 45 pounds. For now, since her arm weighs nothing, the power of her tone is dependent on the high placement of her bow grip. Also her vibrato is still somewhat deliberate in this piece and the shifts are not as swift as they will be a year from this point when she will be recording the Fantasia Appassionata.

  • cont. Prodigies require very special and sensitive handling. They need guidance and a firm protective hand from a strong teacher as they "level up". A child who has stars in his eyes and greatness in his heart can usually be convinced to practice his Sevcik and Carl Flesch faithfully each day. The serious training of a concert violinist is long and arduous and needs to begin promptly on great repertory. There are no real shortcuts, and no time should be wasted on second- rate materials.

  • This is my favorite version of the Mendlessohn . ^_^

Oh, I know there are more polished performances out there, but your performance is the one I remember and enjoy the most.

  • Lovely!

  • I completely and totally disagree with you. The Mendlessohn concerto is an entirely appropriate piece in length, content and difficulty for a youngster this gifted who is in training to be a violinist. Also, this piece is like an onion with layers. She can study it now while her emotions are powerful and pure. Then she can study it more deeply later, when she is older. Anyway, there's no stopping kids like this little artist. Mendlessohn is probably smiling. ^_^ God bless you little girl!!

  • I appreciate your different opinion. And I am, frankly, intrigued that you disagree "totally". I am going to ask a few violinists I know and I am going to consider your comments, seriously. Not that you need to change your mind (or I will necessarily change mine, for that matter). But I appreciate the civility of your disagreeing with me and the statement of your position. Sometimes on YouTube things get really personal, not necessary and it clouds the discussion. Thanks!

  • I am a full time violin teacher of 35 yrs experience. Early in my career I began to concentrate on the foundation of this beautiful discipline and ultimately on prodigies. Getting tiny kids to really master their scales and arpeggios and at the same time love what they are doing is the only magic trick I know. Once these essential skills are in place, I put kids on a well-thought-out menu of virtuoso pieces. Short ones at first like Paganini's 24thmCapr. Then longer ones.

  • This is amazing.

Could you by any chance upload the accompaniment you used? I'd like to have a try with the accompaniment!

  • I have now listened to this performance 9 times! :)

  • i agree... she has talent but still... it takes more than that to play this piece..

  • don't get me wrong. she is a wondrous violin player and has great talent. however, i don't think this piece was the best choice. maybe i'm wrong, but her bow hold needs some help. this is one of those pieces where one shouldn't be taught it until they have every thing perfect... it's the house of cards effect.

  • I completely disagree. This child is "a work in progress". This piece is entirely appropriate in content and difficulty for a gifted 7 year old who is in serious training to be a violinist.

  • I challenge everything you have said. I agree with foodforunicorns. If Mendlessohn himself were listening to this performance I think he would be very happy. And besides....This piece is like an onion with many layers. This child can study it now and play it to the best of her ability (Which is immense) when all her emotions are pure powerful and then study it again later adding all the new skills and strengths that she has accumulated.

  • so nice..

  • For a 7 year old girl, she's awesome! However, to be honest, she played it really badly. She should not start playing this piece that early. She should now practice some more scales or maybe some easier pieces such as Bach or maybe some grade 8 pieces. Anyway, she's really talented!

  • il n'y a qu'une chose à dire : Vive la France

  • Very impressive, however she doesn't particularly seem to be happy when she plays. It's not really a "happy" piece, but some of her facial expressions struck me as being uncomfortable.

  • I know children extremely well after 35 years of teaching violin, and I've watched this performance carefully about 12 times. I find it not only impressive but puzzling in another way...This child's concentration and awesome maintenance of the ebb and flow of the tensions within the evolving phrases is brilliant. If her facial expressions seemed strained or overly serious it was because of the majesty and gravity of the music she was playing as well as the novelty of playing before a camera.

  • Okay, it's amazing for a seven year old. I'll give her that. But, honestly, I'd save the great concertos for when you're older and know more about the instrument.

And I kinda doubt that she picked this piece on her own...

  • For rewire95: You are wrong. Age 7 is a wonderful age to be playing Mendelssohn. And since she can obviously play the piece brilliantly,

    why wait?

  • Really? - How about some etudes, and play the piece when you're old enough to say his name.

  • For airplanelova93: Actually she does play etudes and also scales, and she could say Mendlessohn's name years ago. I went to your channel and listened to some of your videos, and it is understandable that you would be bewildered by this video. Have you seen her two newest performances? the ones of the Carmen Fantasy?

  • it's stuped play mendelssohn at 7 years old but for 7 years old she play very good

  • I agree. It's not fair to the kid to go to the really hard pieces so early. Sure, she can play it, but that kid probably didn't decide she wanted to play Mendelssohn on her own.

  • Anyone know her name? I'd like to remember it, she may be famous someday.

  • One day I would love to hear you play the second movement and the third movement! ^_^

  • Bravo!!! I wish I could give you some roses!

    Loads of stars!

  • Wow!!! 5/5

  • Awesome intonation! and very nice feeling for the ebb and flow of tension in the phrases.

    Very very musical!!!!

  • Lovely! Lovely! Lovely! Let me repeat that.....

    Lovely! Lovely! Lovely!

Of all the performances out there of the Mendlessohn concerto Yours is my favorite!!!!!

    5/5

  • Just listening again! ^_^ ^_^

  • Astonishing, for age 7! The intonation is excellent, and the ricochet is pretty good! Her bow seems too big, though. Other than that, I am utterly amazed! Bravo.

  • One the things that I think is terrific about this performance is way the artist maintains the tension in the ebb and flow of the melodic lines.

The performance is supremely musical from beginning to end.

  • For arsonalfooty4: They better not. This little artist is ADORED and has many loyal fans who will immediately "thumbs down" any negative comments.

  • Brava!!!!5/5

  • Just had to listen to this beautiful performance again!

  • OMG

i cant play this and im 17 years old!

  • amazing!! i wish my daughter can do that!

  • esta niña sí sabe a qué jugar para no aburrirse

  • poor thing she cant hold the bow at the frog =( awesome though just needs to work on the shifts, as someone said already but she is 7 lol. amazing

  • Maybe, but her execution of the arpeggio bowing is TERRIFIC!

  • Wow! Let me repeat that! WOW!!! 5/5

  • Very very musical!! I agree with singingirl16. The shifts need work. I guess the "slidey" sound comes from the shifts being a little slow. However, I listened to the Fantasia, and the shifts had already improved so much! ^_^ This performance (Mendelssohn) is amazing!!

    Bundles of stars!!!!

  • good job but work on shifts...they sound slidy! and keep your violin up, i trouble w/ that too :)

  • Awesome! Watching you play made me very happy! :D

  • Great playing! geigenmaedchen!!! sub 5/5

  • I would love to hear you play this piece with an orchestra! ^_^

  • Awesome!!! You have captured my heart!! 5/5

  • Exciting and fun to watch! I would love to hear you play this with an orchestra in the near future. ^_^

  • OMG!! and Wow!! 5/5

  • I adored watching you play!

  • I love it!! ^ ^

  • Amen! fuzzy!!! 5/5

  • I most emphatically DO see every likelyhood of this little violinist going all the way to the top! The shallow can only see surfaces and limitations. I think this student is tremendously gifted. She is like an astounding painting which is not finished yet. Students SHOULD play challenging pieces, and no doubt this child's teacher knows exactly what he is doing. Bravo! little girl!! 8/5

  • This child is extremely musical!! The continuity and flow of the music is spot on!!! I love her mastery of the butterfly bowing from about 8:40 to the end. 5/5

  • This is for pjkorab. The training of a violinist is long and arduous and can't be started too soon. The Mendlessohn Concerto is a completely appropriate piece for a seven year old who is in training to be a violinist. This girl looks like she's enjoying every second of what she is doing. She is playing with so much passion and fluidity. Not only is the MAGIC of the music all there, but this little artist has worked her MAGIC on me!! 5/5

  • Il vraiment impressionnant pour son age de joue ainsi ce morceaux plutot assez complexe!!!

  • Very well!!! You are very very good.

    Nice job! ;)

  • maybe it's the point to make them play it allright and to the magic they will grow up... one day... :]

  • Well I've seen too many times children getting sick of music just because they were given too dificult pieces too early... And there's so much beautiful music written specifficaly for children..

  • her rocking sidways is quite distracting but great playing for your age kid

  • My question would be: how big is her violin? It seems to me that she is holding a violin too large for her.

Nice job for this age... Keep working at it.

  • Wow that's really impressive. Nice job, keep it up. I wanted to learn this piece when i was about 14 but was told I wouldn't be able to handle it

  • and she's holding the bow toooooo far up

  • they call that "chokng up". it's done more amongst fiddlers. It's because the closer you hold it to the balance point, the more bow control you have.

  • can you post it on you tube ?

  • very nice, for the age great job, getting the vibrato a little faster would make it sound just that much more amazing. Very nicly playing in tune, work on getting the tempo up a little higher and the vibrato faster. Great job

  • Plays more in tune than a good deal of violin students in college...

  • very good for her age! two thumbs up!

  • Impressive.

One can easily tell that this child loves the music.

  • so cute

  • Thank you for GREATTT Job on this concerto. I feel very fa
