  • Dec 1, 2011 Qbo robot becomes self-aware. I think he will be easier to take down than Skynet...

  • people think robots is going to take over the world.. they cant they only know what we program them to know..yes i know about self leaning robots but its still to eairly to get them doing what humans do

  • i mean, you can replicate this pretty easily with the way we can scan things today. Recognizing "itself" is simply a comparison. I mean simple camera software can recognize all kinds of things in images. still cool, just saying not too advanced.

  • I for one welcome our new overlords. The guy in the back kinda looks like Joker, Maybe I won't have to spend all day computing Pi though..

  • "this is me. nice."

    narcissistic bastard

  • Don't worry we have John Conner and Neo to save us. If they don't succeed then there's always Master Chief.

  • were doomed

  • And thus it begins...

  • Qbo, make me a sandwich.

  • Kill it quickly! I like the Matrix in the movie, not in RL.

  • thats not a penguin, thats a linux penguin!

  • Qbo doesn't recognize itself, it recognizes an image defined as "I." The person in the video could have told Qbo that the image it was viewing was anything, and Qbo would recognize it and repeat the word it was told. I, me, and Qbo have no relation to Qbo. This is not self awareness.

Qbo cannot look at any object and identify it. It was programmed to look for images with a white border, which is why it goes directly to the mirror surrounded in white.

This is more like a smartphone on an RC car.

  • @MacktheFilet I still think it's kind of cool though. But there is an app for android phones that does the same thing, it just doesn't have wheels.

  • @MacktheFilet Couldn't have said it any better myself.

  • @MacktheFilet Thanks CPT Obvious... lol.. I love people trying to sound smarter than everyone else. They even tell you how simple it is in video info. /golfclap

  • @LordCandy Look at the other comments, genius. Obviously other people can't be bothered to read. Nice trying to make yourself look smart though.

Your comment, however, exudes pure brilliance. Nice use of punctuation. Amazing how close I was to the description without reading it, right? Now look at all the other comments talking about robots taking over, and you're going to give me shit?

  • I coulda figured that one out

  • Have these people not seen terminator? or any other movie where robots become self aware??

  • haha cool, more of a Johnny #5 than a t1000 if you ask me though

  • "Oh. This is me. Nice"

    rofl

  • Well, this is it. Were all dead. Nice knowing you everyone!

  • Make me a sex bot.

  • Oh, this is me. Nice.

That's what I say when I see myself in a mirror too.

  • This is just a simple robot, programmed to do all this shit. Not impressive at all.

  • @normalpsychology Because your videos of shooting your girlfriends hair with nurf guns are...? You're such a tool...

  • @TheGrahams Hahaha, shit, you're right. I suck!

  • At 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, August 29, 1997 Skynet becomes self-aware.

  • @WEMS20 i was thinking the same exact thing lol

  • Uh, it didn't recognize it's image. It saw an image of itself, and then was told it was itself. It did not even know what it was. It just sees "image" and records the command that "image" = me without realizing what a mirror even is.

  • @bandetx Well your stupid... It has never seen himself... it has never seen a mirror... So how would this robot know that he sees himself in a mirror? Ofcourse you need to learn this robot what that is.. If that dude learns the robot what a mirror is.. Than it can also say.. "I see myself in a mirror" It's a learning robot.. so it won't know anything unless you learn him everything!

  • @55peedy

No. It will sit in front of the mirror for 10 years and not recognize it as itself. It has to be told it is itself, that is not self-aware. It cannot learn on its own, it can only be taught, so it is about as intelligent as a book. Contains a lot of information, and is not intelligent at all.

  • Since when does Shia Labeouf build robots?

  • i want to buy this robot and add him to my robot family
