Lyrics: I know what you're thinking But I'm not your property No matter what you say No matter what you say Move along, there's nothing left to see Just a body, nothing left to see A couple more for breakfast A little more for tea Just to take the edge off Just to take the edge off Move along, there's nothing left to see Just a body, pouring down the street Move along, theres nothing left to see Just a body, nothing left to see Move along
@legendofbirdbridge he speaks truth.. people are just repeating whatever gets thumbs up. [number of dislikes] people are [insult] is one such class of comments.
I think I read somewhere that this song is about a homeless person... but one of Radiohead's more understated songs, I think. The one person who disliked it must not have ears.
As one of the easier to understand Radiohead songs, this one is about a man addicted to alcohol, or drugs. "Move along. Nothing left to see." This refers to no one caring about the man laying dead on the street. "A couple more for breakfast. A couple more for tea." The man couldn't cope with whatever problems he had.
I think its about a homeless person who is struggling with their alcoholism. as he lies in the street drunk/hungover people just move along rather than help him recover. people dont treat him like a human being 'im not your property'.
Ok, you got me there, I guess I shouldn't exaggurate to make a point, but most of the people I've discussed this with only base their opinions on that one album, which isn't their best by far. I guess I live in an anti-musical area though, everybody listen to popular radio and the only other Radiohead song they know is Creep.
actually, this song is about Thom Yorkes alcoholism. It's a beautiful song though, definitely up to par with the rest of his work, but, @The13thD1sciple, the only really popular Radiohead album is In Rainbows, the bands least favorite album. Their best albums are their least known.
Gonna have to dissagree with you on that one. In Rainbows is their top selling album but I think that was based on their track record prior to it's release. I mean Rolling Stone named Kid A album of the decade and Ok Computer had a ton of hits as well. To say In Rainbows is their only popular album is pretty silly. Radiohead had been huge for a decade even before it's release.
@quicky2103 Pablo Honey was the most selled album of 1995 in the US. the bends is voted as one of their best albums. Ok Computer was more successful than nevermind in the UK and numb. 2 in America KId A is considered their best Album by Rolling Stone, RAdiohead was Voted as best Band in the Q awards after Amnesiac. in 2003 Hail To the Thief got hits like There There (1) Where I end And You Begin (3) Go to SLeep (8) etc. NOt to mention all the Grammys they won and LOtus FLower num. 3 in the UK
@inphanta I'm pretty sure that Thom has said so himself in an interview once, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that he had some alcohol problems during the earlier years of Radiohead back when they were more of a "rock band", mostly cause' he was trying to fit in with what people expect from rockers.
if you're so "pretty sure", then give us the quote. Thom Yorke has never been an alcoholic and the song is not about him at all. It's about some hobo that he once saw dying on the street, and nobody did anything to help. Cheers.
@Rrambler Okay so I read it on wikipedia (it was sourced though). Nonetheless, what about the lines "A couple more for breakfast. A little more for tea"? Nobody really knows except the band themselves, who are talented enough to make open ended songs that can mean many things to many people. Personally I'm a 17 year old with a family history of alcohol abuse, I can make it be about being an alcoholic if I want. In all reality the song could be about both things for all we know.
You're free to interpret the song however you want. But I do believe that one has to have some serious grounds for publicly declaring someone an alcoholic with such remarkable certainty, don't you think? So what if it's just YouTube? That gives you the right to spread around your own misguided deductions, thus misrepresenting and distorting the character of a person? Do you realize how many people will read what you write and pass it on? Internet is serious business, make no mistake about it.
@Rrambler Right you are sir, just saying, I read it somewhere and didn't think that much of it. Furthermore "pretty sure" doesn't translate to me being remarkably certain... for I am only absolutely certain a select few things. I didn't mean to get you all up in the fritz, I just read it somewhere and you gotta admit that Thom has that look about him, even if that's just how he looks and has nothing to say about his life experiences. But my bad then.
I believe it's written about a deceased person lying in the street & everyone ignoring it to simply walk by, like it's a common occurance & nothing they need to worry about
@scruttino Maybe, but i think it's about politicians, exactly the presidents, those people who are very cold leading us to kill the innocents, and in the song he says that he knows what they want to do, but he will not agree to it , and there's nothing left to see in those people who lost all their humanity to greed
I think it's about how the government pretty much gives out gagging orders every day. No one can speak their mind. And if I ever foolishly thought I could change it, in the words of my aunt: "You're fifteen years old, you can't change anything. It's the law, and you have no choice. You can't fight it, because you're only fifteen."
