Oh, yummy! I love fried noodles! I've made with ground pork, shredded napa, chopped mushrooms, and green onion. Yum Yum Yum!!! Must try making some of that pork that you used!
@notnormalbuzz today it was not so bad. Right now it is 79 degrees. Usually the humidity is up, but not so much today. The weather is kind of mild right now. Some days are hotter than hell but the nights get nice and cool :)
ive made dis sooo many times b4 n ramen noodles r perfectly good to use just really flash cook it n i put celery in it too pluz i put a love of garlic in to get a good garlic flavor bc i luv garlic
Oh boy, does that ever look yummy! What is the flavor pkg you used have in it? Does it have a name on it? I will have to check with my fav groc store and oriental store to see if they have ingredients. This is something I could wrap my self around in no time!
@wildheart5 The package comes in with the saimin...just like how ramen has that packet? Same thing. It is filled with stuff that is bad for you, salt, more salt, msg, some boullion ;)
hey kid. yes please. i so envy you your native and asian inspired cuisine and readily available ingredients. i can't buy char siu or fresh chop suey mix, but i will [as you recommended] get some boneless ribs as my local chinese take-out and i can use a can of the chop suey mix... i will definitely make this one!
@snarkdetriomphe hey kid. When you said 'can of chop suey mix' it almost made me want to hurl. Now I am going to have to google it to see what they do to it to put it in a can(?) In its place you just use sprouts, cabbage, carrots, celery, etc. Please don't use a can lol
I've had Mei Fun at the Chinese restaurant around the corner and it has all the same veggies and roast pork and I like it a lot wondering if these saimen noodles are similar? Heck, This probably would be delish even with angel hair pasta!! If it's a noodle it's ok by me!
@jcrefasi1 I had to google mei fun because I had never heard of it. It looks good. One of the photos said, 'thin rice vermicelli' and I'm beginning to think that on the mainland they name the noodles things that you all can understand? It would be very similar to that I believe :)
auntie can you video you eating your dishes at the end of the video... i have a wierd infactuation with watching other eat lol... you food looks onoloa auntie love your videos... keep it up...
@BraddahTatzEnt I used to do that at the end of my very old videos but I don't do it anymore as it would involve using my webcam and not the camera,...so yeah. SOrry.
Wow i love your last still photo. Look like manapua man kine noodles but way bettah. I love to choke mines with chop suey mix and half/half char siu/roast pork. Then garnish with green onions, kamaboko, and cant forget sesame oil too. Soooo ono. Now all thats missing is manapua, pepeiao, half moon and rice cake. Btw Kung He Fat Choi. Happy Chinese New Year. Aloha...
@4everf8ful777 Kung He Fat Choi to you too! I almost stopped at Libby's on Monday for my manapua fix and nod to the new year, but they are closed, I remembered. Bummers. Today by Waimalu I saw the cutest blow up CHinese man and Chinese lanterns. Was so cute! I took a picture. I will post it on Facebook
Jeez... Every time I find the last new thing, you hit me with another one. LOL
I found the chow mein noodles, and started messing with them. In the process, I discovered "Thai Rice Noodles," which are interesting in their own right, and then Saifun bean threads, which I haven't tried yet but also look really interesting. So now I have to go back and find Saimin? Are Saifun and Saimin cousins or something?
@anmoose Those bean threads are used here in dishes like pancit (I haven't done that yet) and chicken long rice (recipe already up). Saimin is really ramen, but this dish uses the more fresh noodles than the dried up stuff. Thai rice noodles are NICE. Try it with a peanut sauce and chicken..red chile YUM
Hi that looks wonderful and I really want to cook this now I live in Vegas what are some other names for the noodles and I have never saw chop suey mix and where did you get those flavor packets oh and what was the meat you put in. Sorry for so many questions but remember you started it and it could be that stuff is not found here, THANKS.
@justrick48 Vegas has so many Hawaiians that you should easily be able to find these things. They may be expensive but you can find it. It is called ramen elsewhere. The packages come in the saimin. The meat is char siu.
Theres that bamboo spoon again. ;-) I had no idea that they made a chop suey mix. Thats new to me. Same oil, never had it, is it as salty as they say it is? Looks delicious!!
@Elvis66 what oil? Did you mean the packets that come with the saimin? You really cannot taste the saltiness (at least I can't) but it is there. Look at any package of ramen. They will say it has 'only' 700-900 mg of sodium for HALF a packet. Try googling it. People think if they don't use that packet they aren't getting all the salt. They are kidding themselves. ;)
You are such an amazing cook. I am a TERRIBLE cook and I have made some of your meals with great success! Woo hoo! I like how you explain things....thank you so much! My hubby said there was hope for me yet! lol
k. i need to learn to not watch your videos in the middle of the night when i cant make food.... I'm dying of hunger now!
