In singing, everyone has a kind of physical "switch point" where you have to change from your chest voice to your head voice, and it's really tough to sing around that range. So I can forgive him for that.

@Templer19 He is by far one of the best I have ever heard. I have been around singers of incredible talent my whole life and I have never heard one close to how good he is.

Yeah, crying tears of joy because YouTubers like Nick Pitera and Sam Tsui not only revived the song for a new generation, but every public performance enriches his wallet. That includes the Ellen performance and any sales on of Pitera's rendition on iTunes. In fact, Perry himself praised the efforts of YouTubers, and this is one of the most popular.
he is not "off" the issue is he is not singing with a person so he can not shape his vowels and blend as most would be able to do when singing a duet. at times his vowels in his chest voice dont match with his Falsetto giving the feeling of tension in the notes and can make it seem a little pitchy.
He's harmonizing, which is commonly up by a third because it sounds WAY better than harmonizing by an octave because that's called unison and sounds incredibly uninteresting.
Go fucking learn a thing or two about music and actually get an ear for notes and pitches before you guys start bitching.
i thought i was the only person on earth that didnt consider themselves musically intelligent based solely on the fact that i could bitch about "autotune" which most people dont even know what truly is anyway.
@Pandurz i'm sorry but there's moments where he really is off key on one or another voice. 95% of the time this is the monitor not being cranked high enough so the artist cant hear him/herself sing, but still its off key ever so slightly, at some moments
@sylvertwyst im in chorus and the parts where he is off is called resolving the chord, a lot of songs do that if they are made for two or more people to sing. they are a half step off from the note they are actually supposed to go up to and they slide the note up to it ^.^ but i could see how you thought that he was off, not a lot of people know a lot about how glee songs work or how chorus songs work :D

I know a lot about music, and the harmonies sounded great, but when he dipped flat, it just didn't work all that well. minor thirds aren't great harmonies.

@Pandurz Just so you know, when Nick was singing the male part, he tended to dip flat.
I know a lot about music, and the harmonies sounded great, but when he dipped flat, it just didn't work all that well. minor thirds aren't great harmonies.
