  • I saw one right before it was scrapped about 32 years ago, far past the point of repair :( Awsome craft

  • God bless the boys who made the Noise.

  • Interesting but not true. This is not the only fully restored PT boat. Go to Battleship Cove in Fall River Mass.

  • @bobsynth It is the only, authentically restored, operational PT Boat in the world. That is a fact. The PT in Fall River Mass is NOT functional/operational.

    CPO, USN

  • @devildoc225 Got you. I stand corrected. I didn;t realize the one in Mass. was not operational.

  • i rode on it today

  • 16 Sep 2011 / After having lunch on the Vancouver WA waterfront, I saw a banner for this boat, went to the public dock and saw her in person. What an amazing feat of restoration these guys pulled off. Got my photo taken in the trainer's seat of the 40mm Bofors gun. I WANT THAT GUN IN MY FRONT YARD! Also enjoyed chatting with the old salts. One of them tells me this Sunday they will be doing a burial at sea for a PT veteran. RIP, sailor.

  • its a beautiful sight

  • This reminds me of my Grandfather. God Bless these guys for all they have done.

  • You don't have to be American to feel proud and be touched by these magnificent men! I'm Australian and I honestly shed a tear listening to the pride and sense of achievement within these guys. God bless them!

  • The 'announcer' did not say the PT-658 had radial engines, he said that vintage bombers have radial engines, made a distinctive sound and the PT-658 had Packard aircraft engines and it too made a distinctive sound. Packard aircraft engines were not radial, they were V-12 cylinder engines and produced a vastly different distinctive sound, particularly then three of them were running.

  • Fantastic.... My hat's off to you, shipmates. CPO James L. Johnson, USN-Retired - Vietnam Veteran

  • @hydroxylion

The PT boat doesn't have radials, either.

    Beautiful work,though.

  • God bless these old guys, for their hard work and sacrifice... then and now!

  • Our greatest generation. I'm proud to be an American.

  • Good job guys !!!!! Thanks for your service Then and Now... Awesome Job

  • It is a thing of beauty...thanks to those who restored her...

  • i helped restore that boat even got to drive it for a bit. hell the tail boat had a hard time keeping up with us striped down it tops out about 50knts loaded it tops out at about 43knts we have 3 other pacard moters we use for spairs the moters are also not cheep to repair because all the parts have to be custom made or taken from the very limited spare parts market and then most of thoes parts have to be modifyed to fit.

  • Wow that was amazing will put that on my want to do list !!!! Thank u so much for sharing !!!!

And God bless them guys to live long long lives n many many blessings!!

  • Breathtaking!

  • Thank you. This is amazing and very heartwarming.

  • God Bless the PT men, and all servicemen, and women!

  • WOW !!!!!

  • The only PT boats I ever saw were on dry land in the Brooklyn Navy Yard in 1949. I was a freshman in high school at the time and was really enjoying a close look at these historic craft. I wish I could have been allowed to photograph them.

  • Great men. America's looks up to them.

  • There is an operable one on the East coast.

  • Lol @ "radial engined bomber".

  • @hydroxylion I know lol.. of all bombers they could have picked they had to pick the one without radials.

  • @johnnybravo234 yep.

  • There are two PT Boats in Fall River, MA. I don't think they are ocean ready though.

  • they destroyed all those in the philippines after the war.

  • A PT boat? That's the way to go.

I'd have restored one of those japanese ones though, the kind that had the two triple 25mm AA.

    Those are cooler.

  • I will look after it

  • Wait a min is that Elco-80 footer at 3:50 PT 109 with the anti tank gun on the bow??? If so is it a shot from the movie or an actual Pic never seen before

  • its from the movie, thats not a real elco. although they made it very well. it's only around 70 feet long

  • Yes, I was wondering about that when I saw that on the video but of course I cant change what they say. lol

  • Actually they are supercharged engines (gear driven) and the engine was never used in an aircraft. It looks similar and has similar design traits to the V12 aircraft engines of the era.
