  • nice

  • good)

  • @SoloSweden the body is exactly the same as the actual SG Standard, was in a lokal music store, checked out the AY signature, and asked the tech. even the neck joint is the same, same cutaways, NOT the big headstock wich a 70s sg has. Just go and get some Pics of a Vintage SG, the AY V.O.S. is a copy. The signature is just a modifyed SG, sry mate. But I love its Tailpeace.

  • i dont know, i think the SG AY Signature is a ripp off... ive got a sg standard and i bought some UFO Knobs for 5$... the headstock of the AY is ugly, there should be a crown on it. The Vibrato is awesome thats true but this is the only difference to a sg standard, im not talking about pickups here.

  • The AY body construction differs as well. The AY was derived from Angus' first 1970/71 SG: much thinner neck!

    Thanks for telling your opinion!

  • Well, the neck of the AY Signature has a thinner neck than the SG Standard...

  • can i ask mate where is the signature? you should put a pic of it in your video

  • 'Course you can.

No real Angus signature on this one mate! It's just his signature model!

  • awrite klkl cause i seen a video on youtube, the guy has the the 37th one, sorry mate

  • Ah I suppose you are speaking about SoloDallas? He is a dear friend of mine.

By the way I have besides this guitar, the 38th one, the NEW Angus Young Signature model!

  • how much do one like that cost?

  • That depends. Brand new in Sweden you'll have to pay about 2500 euros. It's cheaper in the U.S. You might buy second hand - if you reckon the guitar is in the condition you want it to be: could be much cheaper.

It's worth the expence, regardless (brand new, OR second hand: if it's not broken lol)

  • du har tagit öjudet från en konsert!

  • Läs info-boxen: Back in Black live från Augusti 1980!

  • i am hopefully getting that for christmas, only one problem, it costs 2 grand

  • I hope you get it. I'm not sure Gibson will keep making this guitar for much longer now that they (Gibson USA, NOT Custom, although Custom have a new Angus out as well) have a new Angus Signature model out.

Let me know if you get it, and how you like it. I love mine. As much as I love the new Angus VOS (38 out of 200ex that we received a few weeks ago), if not more!

    Its really a great guitar.

  • I did not get the angus young signature like this but i got a regular gibson sg, i love it but i think i would like this guitar better

  • Do you mean SG Standard? What finish?

  • Yes an SG standard and a worn cherry finish, it looks very good

  • never played a les paul, never will.

SG is the only way guys.

  • nice

  • What a sexy fuckin' guitar

    My favorite guitar.

  • How much did this guitar cost

  • 1500 euro. Slightly used and in mint condition.

  • how stable is the vibrola on these models? because if not it's smarter to get a standard and replace it with an angus young humbucker at the brigde.

  • While people say they have issues with tuning, I don't. SG's are not optimal guitars when it comes to keep the tuning, but I also have SG's without the vibrola, and I need to tune them as often as the AYS.

Another thing that differs between the AYS and the Standard, is the neck thickness. The new Standards have a thicker one, while the AYS has a very thin neck, just like the 60's SG's.

  • i guess that settles it, i've never had an SG so i don't have any idea if they stay in tune well.. i'm going to try both.. i like the necks chunky tho.. but i don't like the redness of the new ones, darker red of AYS looks nicer i think.. mabe i'll also try a reissue.. nothing beats trying and hearing for yourself.. thanks for the info.. keep on rocking!

  • You do that. Let me know when you've made your choise.

  • he still has it, he refinished it, its the one with the lightning bolt inlays he uses live.

  • Thats what I think although the way he talked about it in an article I have read from 1981 which is after you first see the light bolt guitar. It sounds like it is still orignal so maybe not it.

  • I've read an interview with his luthiere. And the "BOLT" guitat he plays IS his original. The new neck with the inlays was put on after the original broke.

  • Angus used a '64 SG didnt he?..I don't remember there being a 1970 SG as far as production year.

  • Nope he used 69-70.

  • I knew they were making melody makers in the SG shape around that time (At one point I owned two different models a '61 and a '64 D), but I wasn't sure about standards so i looked up Gibson and wiki...his was a '68 but he bought it in 1970

  • His first SG was most likely a '70.

  • oh dude and btw...can u do dive bombs and shit with that vibrola? am guessing not but am jsut wondering

  • He has had man SG's. His first was a 70 to a 71 SG Standard, aand he also has a 64 which is the black one plays live. He had that one refinished in 89, and is one of his favorite guitars.

  • you suck

  • lol

  • MSN

  • hey everyone can u pelase reply to me ur opinion? - i am upgrading my guitar, im thinking about buying new pickups first..

i wa sthinking about humbucker pups or burstbucker pro pups. Do u guys think theyr worth the price??

if they are..which ones better?i like to play guns n roses..led zeppelin..bucket head..metallica..so i want a good clean soudn and overdrive for solos and somw power for stuff like battery/master of

puppets...if u know any other good

    pickups please reply to me

  • Let me ask you first: what guitar do you want to "upgrade" i.e which model?

  • its an Epiphone SG Special...the cheap one that costs like 300 dollars on the gibson webstie and cost me 200 at gutiar center...and basicly the things i wanna improve on my guitar are that..i want to make it look like ur guitar..thats basicly it... i want eithe rhumbuckers ur burstbucker pros, i want a vibrola like the 1 on ur guitar, i want the tuners ur guitar has, i wanna put block inlays in my fretboard and a pickguard maybe...but thanks for asking and ill be waiting for ur respone

    =)

  • Answered via PM.

  • ID get burstbuckers and but the vibrola off ebay.

  • lol thats what am gona do...i got burstbuckers already but not the vibrola yet...the vibrola is the best on sgs

  • Can someone tell me how often you have to tune this guitar i was planning on buying it but the guy at Guitar Center said it goes out of tune every two songs you play

    so can someone please help

  • ASasTHEMAN,

While I don't have any issues with tuning (more than usual with other SG:s without the vibrola), people say they do. BUT I can only talk out of my experience, which in this case only extends to my own guitar.

Though, personally, I wouldn't listen to the "guy" at Guitar Center. Many people seem to think SG:s alway goes out of tune. THEY DON'T!!!

  • Thanks for the info you helped a lot

  • Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • hey dude can u please read the comment i posted above and reply?? im trying to upgrade my guitar and one of the things i also wanna upgrade...is that i wanna get a vibrola like the one u have..do u know how much does it cost?? and would i have to drill any holes in my guitar to put the vibrola?? thanks man and nice guitar =)

  • Beautiful, cherish it, lol.

  • lol

  • Hey dude!

Lovely guitar you got there! I've got a Gibson SG Standard myself and I'm thinking about adding a tremolo tailpice, and had a quiq question: Do you have any problem whit it not staying in tune using the whammy bar?

    Cheers

  • tssrock: hey mate!

I don't have any issues with tuning (more than usual with other SG:s without the vibrola) people say they do.

But using the vibrola as it was supposed to be used will make it go out of tune, though. I can only be used for VERY subtle tremolo.

As a great friend of minetold me (Fil, aka SoloDallas) the vibrola will make the guitar sound different, in a way which is better if you want to play AC/DC (I don't have the gear to make that comparison right now myself).

  • Thanks mate!

I'll probably think about it some more!

Got to admit, It look's amazing!

    Rock on dude! : )

  • It one of the most beautiful thing with the SG.

  • this is porn to me

  • lol

  • She's a beauty! Be sure to give her alot of love! Fretboard looks so clean

  • Will do. Have already given her the best gift one could ever give a guitar - letting it play AC/DC!

    lol

    take care mate

  • Guitar with best rock's sound...

  • Let me correct you slightly: best RECENT guitar!

  • it's true :)

  • thank you for subscribing

  • I love this guitar.

  • THANK YOU for making me buy it!!!

  • Isn't that the 1968 Angus Young Signature Gibson SG?

  • If you mean re-issue 1968, you are right. It's a re-issue of a late 60's SG Standard.

Mine though, was made in 2004.

    Huh?

  • WOW Amazing :D

  • Ahh, she's cute! :p Great guitar

  • HA! You're 100% right!

  • Hur mycket får man om man komfirmerar sig?? :P

  • Du får en massa lektioner om vad Bibeln lär.

    Skaffa ett sommarjobb!

  • the hardware is shit. ex: bad tuners, feedback on one humbucker, pots becoming possessed etc. bridge just shit shit shit problems.

I still love mine. other than the issues(that I fixed)

Its perfect for any genre really.

I have one and its still euphoric every time I pick it up. =]

  • I have never had any issues with feedback nor tuning.

  • Really nice guitar!

  • It sure is!

    Are you getting one, mate?

  • I would like to buy a Gibson SG standard, but by the moment I can't afford it... I'm too young to have that money!! By the way, I have my Epiphone SG and I'm really happy.

  • If you are buying a guitar to play AC/DC, or mainly AC/DC, I'd say go for the AYS hands down. I had a Standard myself, but I sold it and got the AYS instead.

It really gets closer to the Angus Young tone, with almost any amp. I like better how it feels, too, since it's got a thinner neck.

  • But it's maybe because the AGS has the Angus Young signature pick ups hasn't it? I will see when I buy the Gibson because it will take years...

  • No doubts the AYS pickup has an impact on the sound. Quite a big impact, too. It's your choice mate but I really recomend you to buy the AYS instead of the Standard (wich is still a great guitar).

  • It' because of many reasons mate. Shoot me a personal message and I'll tell you the reasons.

    Huh?

  • what kinda amp you playing that beast on?

  • I'm usally playing it thru'

    a 15W Laney (nice little tube-amp), or the Marshall, a JMP 2204 (50W, of course :P) from the mid-70's.

  • Ive got to get that guitar!!!!!

  • Buy it hands down!

  • but i have an idea. His early guitars had this maestro thing. He never used it, but he had it on his SGs. Thats the only idea i have :/

  • This is the reason. To be precise: Angus' first Gibson SG (1968) had the same vibrato system as the AY Signature has.

It was simply designed after the 1968 Standard, since that first SG of Angus Young was a 1968 with vibrato.

  • The angus signature SG is great, its the best among the SGs, but i dont understand one thing. Angus has never ever used a vibrato. He does the vibrato by bending the strings with his left hand. So i dont know, why is there a vibrato on the signature SG.

  • i have this guitar too :) im from Denmark

  • how much man, and its beautiful

  • In Sweden, 3000$.

  • problem with me if i got this guitar i would be too afraid to even touch it O.O

    ohhhh shinnyyyy

looks like it plays great too

  • Gimme some of it :P:P:P:P !!! Looks great :P I bet it sounds great too ;)

  • you bet right! She sound amazing, incredible sustain.

  • Now that is a sexy guitar! Very close to a 69/70. I might just have to pick me up one of these;-).

    --Matt

  • She sounds also close to a late 60s SG Standard. From what I've heard, this guitar was designed after Angus 1968 SG. But of course they look almost the same as the 1969s and 1970s.

    Thanks for watching, Matt!

How much did you pay for your Fender? It is a "real" 1957, right? Not a re-issue?

    /Kris

  • I payed about $3000 US for it. My friends' grandfather wanted to sell it so I took up on his offer. It was pretty cheap because it is beat up and what not. I also belive he had changed ONE of the pickups..not sure though;-) I don't mind a bit!

  • Sounds nice, you should do a video with it in action! What about some Eric Clapton?

  • Hmmm...sounds good;-)

  • its beautifull!!!! i love it!!!

  • i want one so bad but all i got is a sg sg special

  • I reccomend you sell you Special (wich is good guitar still, I have one, too) and search for a used SG AYS.

You won't be disapponited. I promise.

    /Kris

  • whats a sg ays

  • AYS = Angus Young Signature

  • Just got mine today, curious though. Did you get any extras with yours?

I got the standard quality assurance papers/checklist. The case with the lock mechanism and a screwdriver piece. I see some with a soft bag with the devil logo. Did yours come with that?

  • I got the special Angus Young Hardcase.

  • What a guitar Kris!

  • GAAHH u lucky son of a bitch..

  • lol, I know!

Will try and put a vid with me playing her soon.

    Later

  • I still think your black SG Standard sounded better. Now I've said it officially :-D.

/Daddy, doomed to play our Special henceforth

  • oh my god. i love this guitar. there isn't any word to describe it!!

  • ughughughughughughughughughughugh.... *Drools*

I am so f*cking envious right now.....that is such a beautiful Guitar......How much did you get it for?

  • Got it for about 1500€.

And I can assure you it sounds as amazing as it looks.
