@GISMCONFUSE no offense but, why are you even commenting here then? if you don't like it just leave, don't post about how much you hate the song or you'll get a bunch of insults from the fans
@zant741 It's a spin off of rigor mortis. A few hours after you die, your joints stiffen and lock in place for about 72 hours, and that's what rigor mortis is.
@dragythuno *giggle* I have one question, since I don't know whose side you're on. You're not a Voltaire type of person, I can see by the mocking malice, but... You can't be "that person's" fan. You see, I hate "that person" enough to avoid his music like the plague.
But you call Justin Beiber a "she?"
Really now, are you just here to see how many negatives you can get?
@RhenNightshade I know someone who did that, coming on here just to annoy people with a single comment, and this ALSO happened to take place on a Voltaire song video. It was a comment made by a YouTuber names Metavash, and his comment ALSO involved Voltaire and Justin Beiber. Strange similarities, no?
@ohBlackMetal Black metal is lame because it takes itself so seriously. This isn't meant to be serious. Black metal and Goth Comedy really should not be compared, especially by biased idiots like yourself who don't undersand the most basic of musical concepts.
@TheScreamingCarrot Yeah, they shouldn't be compared because they're totally different. Black Metal bands do tend to take themselves too seriously, it's true. Doesn't make Black Metal lame though IMO.
@metalmaster29 Haha I must admit I don't listen to a hell of a lot of metal. I listen to Voltaire, and they're so different, but I have in the past. It's just a question of personal tastes and what a person likes or doesn't like the sound of. =)
That's like saying that September 11 (in the gregorian calendar) is the first day of the Ethiopian calendar and the Ethiopians probably started their calendar to match an important date in the future gregorian calendar so they must have something to do with the destruction of OTC.
Sounds stupid. Not to mention that it's a logical fallacy since it doesn't quite follow the rules of reasoning.
@smoogirl infact, in russia, there was a bus called the number 666. they spent a lot of money changing the number to a different number. they changed it to 616
I think of it as a lucky #, not because relgin ( not so sure I have one ) but I think of it as lucky because its even and I like even #s ( I think I have o.c.d )
Mortis = Latin for death, I believe. "Raggae mortis" is a spoof of rigor mortis "that is caused by a chemical change in the muscles after death, causing the limbs of the corpse to become stiff" (Wikipedia definition)
About all this going to hell-talk: To be honest, if hell is full of people dancing around listening to this man and his genious songs, I'll just have to sin a little.
God damn, his songs rock. Seriously, the first artist I really enjoy listening to. Maybe because he's Cuban and I like Spanish-speaking artists, but still... Damn.
I think that Voltaire deserves to be his own genre. The genre should be called "Voltaire" . All artists who use creepy/cheery violin/horn playing and who often sing songs about graveyeard-like subjects will belong to the genre of "Voltaire".
reggae mortis is a pun on the term rigor mortis... the stiffening of a dead body. Voltaire enjoys using puns and jokes on "goth" subjects such as death and the afterlife.
It's apparently originally by someone named Peter Forrest. I couldn't find the Forrest version online so I don't know how it sounds, just that the Voltaire version is a cover.
This song is terrible! I can't get it out of my head! I think I love it.:)

Raggae being a style of music, it does allude to rigor mortis. "stiff in the knees" "it's messing up my joints" ect.
