guys...they said it throughout the entire show why he couldnt fly for 6 more seasons. They even said it again like 10 times in the finale. He always knew how to fly but he had to let go of his humanity. He still saw himself as the simple farmboy instead of superman.
@sabatiel180 Actually, from the second episode of the series they said Clark had a fear of heights. The scene got cut but it was mentinoed again later, and made it to the aired version of the episode.
Guys chill out, what's the big deal. The reason that Clark did not fly was WB did not want him to fly...sounds crazy but the truth. Take a look at the last episode they never showed him in the suit...no him all the way. They have a new move coming and when clack flew in season 4, that was around the time that sorry ass Superman movie was being made.

This has to be my favorite Martha Kent moment ever!!! So much tension and heart break in her character, I love that she's back now. And Clark as Kal-El is just epic.
@kuzuboshii there is this thing about the superman character, he has 3 sides: clark kent, kal el and superman. this here is Kal el saying "move lady, get out of my way"
Note that, as he rises to his full height - as Kal-El - the camera angle goes from well above his head to down to the ground, symbolically showing him growing into a giant. As he thrusts Martha aside and squats down, concentric rings of force surround his body... showing the anti-gravity which is his "flying" power.
How is he flying if he doesn't know how to O.o
