In the West, the KS-23 could be described as a "slug gun" for the same reason (rifled bore) Russians classify it as a "carbine." There's a semi-auto bullpup version called the KS-23K which uses detachable box mags. That would be interesting to see in a game like this. Also, the GP-30 doesn't work right in this game. Actually, it's the VOG-25 rounds that doesn't work right. Yer dude knocks out a casing. Thing is, VOGs are CASELESS! Also, it would be nice if you could use the quadrant sight.

Technically, a Gatling gun and a chaingun are different. And the "chaingun" from Doom isn't really a true chaingun. A true chaingun, also called an autocannon, is usually mounted on battle ships and has a chain-driven action. They usually have a single barrel. That shotgun looks like a KS-23 which is a 23mm (somewhere in the neighborhood of 4- or 6-gauge) mammoth monstrosity usually used for disabling vehicles. In Russia, it's classified as a "carbine" due to its rifled bore.

I wish you could aim grenade launchers in this game. There aren't many FPS games that let you do that other than the STALKER series and Project Reality. The GP-25 (or '30 or '34) has a quadrant sight which many grenadiers (regardless of nationality) find easier to use than a ladder sight. VOG-25 grenades have self-contained primers and are designed so that they don't need a casing like the HEDPs used in the M-203. Compared to the GP-25, the M-203 is more complicated but also more versatile.

I think they call it a "chain" gun because it's "belt" -fed (the terms "belt" and "chain," in this context, are not interchangeable).
