  • HAHhaha in the beginning he wasent sure if he heard something out of his mouth so he gave him one more gum to be sure.. LOL

  • Genius man, can't believe how smart he is. They all think hes deaf and dumb and a stupid native american... Little did Miss Ratched (ratshed as mcmurphy says) know that she was being trolled by literally the master of all trolls.

  • Will Sampson the best!

  • Do you think Chief started talking in this scene because he thought he was going to get lobotomized like his father was and figured there was no point in keeping quiet anymore?

  • i just finished this book, is the whole movie up on youtube anywhere??

  • @kaycie92 no. but it is on netflix. if you haven't seen the movie, it is actually really different from the book (cheswick lives and taber is still committed), but it still has the major themes. i'm reading the book now

  • @kaycie92 NO. 89MRSTEVEN USED TO HAVE IF

  • the greatest character of all time.. he made me wanna cry..

  • one of the best movies ever made....EVER!!!!

  • @KissThisAce IT IS!

  • Best 80 seconds in movie history.

  • @LandrumDisposal

    1975

  • He talked too much in Poltergiest II :( haha

  • Bromden and McMurphy: caught in a rad bromance. loved the book.

  • Chief look good! Yummy!

  • AAAaah Juicy fruit.... Not Mmmmmmm juicy fruit. get it right. this is a masterpiece.

  • it's official! 86,247 people have seen one of the best films ever made IMO!

  • some times you feel like a nut...sometimes you dont.

  • will sampson rip outstanding

  • I love how Jack acts just as excited as you feel when you're watching it

  • you fooled em chief, you fooled em you fooled em all haha

  • love this scene

  • idk why but i find this scene cute haha. and does anyone know if Chief MEANT to say thank you or not? or was that just accidental and he juts gave up hiding it.

  • @TheBlueAnchovy In the book McMurphy doesn't believe the Chief is actually "deaf and dumb" and is not surprised when he finally starts talking. He knows for sure that the chief can hear when he responds to things, and just sort of waits for him to feel comfortable enough to speak. Then tells him how his voice sounds pretty rusty, but he's there to listen if the Chief wants to practice.

  • OMG! IT's so good!

  • ALL HAIL THE CHIEF, GREATEST TROLL OF ALL TIME

  • @PurplePeopleEater4 haha look up vermen surpreme

  • I just watched this for the first time and my classmate said the native american actor was her mom's cousin. that's cool. Anyway, I loved this part of the movie. That's what psychologist/psychiatrist get when pre judging a person because they don't want to speak to them..LOL! good movie.and sad too..;)

  • @tyronesdragoness she's related to the chief?! Baws.

  • Comment removed

  • Put it in the basket chief cmon put it in the basket

  • what does the chief say, when he asks 'you hear me too?'

    You bet, or something?

  • "Yeah you bet" LOL I like the way he said that.

  • Did anyone else think he was about to hand him one of them joke chewing gum traps?

  • That way that Mac looks up after the Chief thanks him is PERFECT! Makes me laugh every time!

  • @tommyt1971 Reminds me of that perfect look Eddie Murphy had on his face in Trading Places where Ralph Bellamy says "...like ya might find in a bacon, lettuce & tomato sandwich."

  • Im having Juicy Fruit now.

  • love the way Jack says 'u fooled em chief ' the acting in this great film really is superb

  • Why exactly is Chief there in the first place? What's wrong with him?

  • @CommanderShepard2000 The reasons for his being there are vague. It might be that he had a breakdown after seeing his father utterly humiliated, or he might be tormented by his service days in WWII; it may be both. What we do know is that since his admittance, he had received MANY electroshock treatments (possibly as many as 200) which have caused him to have fits of hallucinations.

  • @KnightGrl95 nice theory... save that electroconvulsive therapy does not cause hallucinations, and nowhere in the book does it say he had as much

  • @CommanderShepard2000 In the book, he suffers of actual paranoia and a lot of nasty complexes, in the movie, it is never explained.

  • Mr. Bromden /Will SAMPSON/ Love!!!

  • You fooled them all.

  • what does chief say at 0:53 ?

  • @nickycoley1 You bet

  • Does anyone else think Chief Bromden is hot?!

  • @dogzluvr13 i have always thought will sampson had a very handsome soul as well, his personality in the movie poltergiest 2 was what made that more than just his outward appearance

  • @Dravenswraith I agree!

  • ...Thank You. *Mcmurphy looks up EPICALLY* 0_0

    "gives a second Piece"

YOU SLY DOG YOU FOOLED THEM ALLL!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAH!

  • ,,Hmmmmm,Juicy Fruit"

  • damn after watching this I was rummaging through my drawers to find my last packet of juicy fruit..bahaha...

  • best supporting actor should have been sampson , even for the poltergeist film he did ..great nuance to his work

  • jacks reaction was priceless haha

  • We watched this in English, and laughed like idiots at this part.

  • such an amazing film

  • ahhh..juicey fruit

  • What a great scene! Brilliant Performances from Nicholson and Sampson!

  • this scene always makes me laugh.

  • The movie was okay, but the book was... beyond words.

  • @MandaOwl The book was definitely better but the movie, I think, ranks up with the best of them

  • i love the relationship between these two

  • XD I love his reaction!

  • Que escena! En el libro difiere un poco.

  • i can barely understand him! but i still love him! <3

  • I dig the whole film but this scene might be my favorite because its was actually a pleasent surprise to discover that Chief wasn't as screwed up as everyone thought. ....Jack sitting there blown away by the revelation while Chief sits' there chewing the gum grinnin'......lol. Classic moment.

  • he is such a hero

  • My favourite scene.

  • I agree Chief. Juicyfruit is mighty fine. (:

  • ROFL "Cheif! You sly son of a bitch!"

  • that expression on Nickolson face at 0:35 is priceless

  • the best

  • Beautiful scene.

  • Fuck nurse ratshit pardon me ratched

  • The book's written from Chief's point of view, MCE...thought you'd read it?

  • i love cheif and McMurphy's relationship in the movie, it's like them sticking two fingers up to the system, but in really different ways.

  • Notice how right before Chief says, "Ahh, juicyfruit", Nicholson begins to look down. Then his head jerks back up when Chief starts to speak. I imagine that was just an accidental thing, but it's awesome how well Nicholson was embodying his character. That's an extremely realistic reaction. Incredible movie

  • @iHomestarrunner69

Why not? Too boring for you?

  • 2 of the best characters in the movie!!!!!!!!!

  • Jack reminds me so much of Viggo Mortensen or maybe it's the other way around. Similar acting style, don't you think?

  • It astounds me that this guy wasn't an actor at all, he was a park ranger in Oregon in a park near where the movie was filmed. He was selected for the part because he was the only Native American the Casting Department could find who matched the character's incredible size.

  • The movie is great :D

  • If there ever a more incredible presence in the films than Will Sampson...rest in peace.

  • Best part of the entire movie. Either this part or the bathroom sink part. What a fantastic movie....one of the all-time best movies.

  • I like that they wait to let McMurphy know that Chief isn't deaf until the end.

  • I love this scene. You can see how excited McMurphy is that someone else is sticking it to Nurse Ratched and her cunty form of passive-aggressive sadism.

  • 8D Love this scene.

  • damn he died like 3 years after the film was released. thats crazy

  • ahhh juicy fruit!!

  • well said

  • lol the beginning of this looks like a commercial for juicy fruit.

  • Will Samson folks, the chief..

  • RIP THE CHIEF, HE DIED IN REAL LIFE

  • @Kingvenom7 Huh... I didn't know the character died in real life...

Too bad the actor, Will Sampson, who played as Chief also died...

    RIP Will Sampson.

  • Really good film. Supply teacher ruined the ending for us though, told us what happens to Randall. Grrr >:(

  • Genius

  • Lawllzzz Ah Juicy Fruit. :D Chief is definitely one of my favorite characters

  • @JuliaElmore in the stage play is chief one of the leads?

  • @JHollingsworthh I believe so

  • The Chief played the Chief in.... The Outlaw Josey Whales too. My Favorites.

He definitely had a presence about him no matter where he went.

    Jack Nicholson... a legend!

  • Awesome movie! ! !

  • i am watching this movie in my phycology class it is a pretty good movie

  • I watched it in my class too! Awesome movie. Best laugh out loud moment!

  • 321, you should watch it at home, its much more comfortable!! It is a great movie, your right!

  • our school is doing this as a play!!!

im chief!.. except im only 6 foot and i dont look faintly native american lol

  • Why did that get a thumbs down?

  • my comment? probably because some hardcore liberal thought it was offensive that i play a native american..

if you gave it the thumbs up to make it even again, thanks ;)

  • I did give it a thumbs up, seems a little silly. Men used to play women in Shakespearean times. Thats the point of acting, you're pretting to be someone else.

  • 6 foot is tiny compared to this guy

  • @AICpantera

yeah it was lucky that most of the other cast members were smaller than me, not by much, but i was tall enough to just get away with it lol

  • @soldierside365 I suppose if you were a latino you might have passed as a native american, but...

  • @dogzluvr13

now i read this, i should have definatly got on the fake tan!

  • @soldierside365 jajajajaja, yeah!! how was the play? lol

  • @dogzluvr13

everyone apparently loved it.. i, along with the actor/actress that played mcmurphy and nurse ratchett got a letter from our headmaster congratulating us on our performance, and at the end of the year the actor who played mcmurphy and i got an award for it :P how i got it playing a catatonic narrator that does little else than sweep and stand there is beyond me, but hey, im not complaining ;)

  • I love that part lol. Chief B is the shit.

  • The Chief is hilarious! He doesn't even have to talk to be funny! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!! :)

  • yeeah, Juicy Fruit

  • jack nicholson's acting was amazing in this film.

  • u will be missed...Mr. Sampson =(

  • Yes he will...I finally paid my respects to my late great uncle at the Hitchita cemetary where he rests.

  • and he speaks!!! D:

    lol

  • epic

  • my favorite scene :)

  • excellent scene. they had a great relationship and also great chemistry

  • I really like this movie, but it's nowhere as good as the book.

In the book Mac knows that Chief is smart from the beginning

  • yeah, but if it wasn't for that detail that video wouldn't exist right now and you wouldn't have been posting in here :D:D:D

  • No i would've been posting on the video that you would've uploaded about Mac knowing Chief was smart

  • yeahhhh........ you're probably right :D:D:D

  • @Metrixbot

    I hate reading :-D

  • Yah Mac tells him the nurse is coming one night and Chief reacts by pretending to be asleep or something like that.

  • @MasterClipEditor yeye and also in book Mac is bigger ( i imagine) and has a red hair , and where are pants with whales?:D MOVIE is great but BOOK>MOVIE

  • @MasterClipEditor "nowhere near as good as the book" do you understand how overused that statement is? a book ='s your own imagination. you create a very specific appeal and look to how you expect things to go down in a movie, and then when you see the movie and it doesn't equal to exactly how you wanted, you claim the book is better. why does noone EVER understand this concept

  • @geddoe316

I agree that that statement can be overused. However the choices made in the movie take away from the power of the story

Taber should be a vegetable, it helps explain why Chief smothers Mac at the End

Cheswick's suicide is one of the main reasons that Mac goes into his depression

Mac breaks the window for kicks instead of for Cheswick, the moment that Mac comes back out of his depression

I could continue. The story Kesey wrote is much more powerful than the movie

  • @geddoe316 second guessing: to criticize or question actions or decisions of (someone) often after the results of those actions or decisions are known

  • @MasterClipEditor i actually think opposite, its because i read the book after i watched the movie. i understand its the non traditional order but the way the movie keeps you out of the loop with the chief and then it lets you know here, along with mcmurphy is much more interesting than knowing since the beginning that he wasnt actually deaf and dumb. im not dissing the book i think its significance at the time is second to none but for actual entertainment purposes- movie for sure

  • @MasterClipEditor yeah but in the book, he's also an actual schizo

  • @MasterClipEditor I thought Mac found out Chief was lying because he said thank you in the book as well

  • @yahoy77

He found out that Chief was lying when he told Cief that one of the orderlies was coming into the dorm and Chief jumped in bed.

  • you fooled'em chief! you fooled'em all!!! AHAHAHAHAH

  • liddle biiiit

  • Jack Nicholson is the best actor of our generation

  • I just love Mac's face on 0:19

  • I LOVE this Jack Nicholson guy :D

  • it's simple.... you can't :D

  • I love Mcmurphy's face when cheif says thank you. he's like "wtf?" lol I love this movie It's a classic.

  • You sly, son of a bitch, Chief!

  • This is my favorite scene, it's just so awesome, just because it's so subtle, he never talks the whole movie, and just out of nowhere "mmm, juicy fruit" lol.

  • the greatness of the Chief!!!
