Hi, I bought the whole set from ebay for 67 pounds and a friend replace it. The timing chain tensioner, the metal gasket and the calmer are GM genuine. The remaining parts are some UK product and look good.
Always howling is heard, no matter if drives. Not very strong but I must be sure only that there is no damage to the engine.
@fanticc Wow, that's very reasonable price :) I bought the set made by some german company called FEBI for €90 (tensioner, chain, ribbons), then i needed some other stuff - some gaskets, simmerings, coolant. But the main problem was that idiot who i bought the car from wasn't changing oil properly, so there was carbon all over all parts. So it needed to be cleaned and thus the work was pretty expensive.
Don't know what could cause that howling, I'll try to ask my friend..
@fanticc That's strange. Does it do that noise even when the car is steady and the engine has higher rpm, or just when you are driving? Maybe it isn't engine issue at all.
I changed my timing chain too and the engine is quiet now. But now i realised that i need to clean the throttle body, because the engine has low resting rpm.
Btw. how much did it cost? I payed nearly €350 because my friend changed it for me, but at opel authorised service i was told, that it would cost about €700.
its your chain,my tigra twintop has the same problem now :(
its also the same engine

I have the same problem with my Astra H z14xep. I think it's the timing chain. After few days i will change it and will write again.
