  • @gymdaph09 Thanks!

  • Sensational voice

  • @caibra88 Yes! Thank you.

  • this is the worst version you uncutlured gays

    - the mandolin was cool though

  • Very nice. If Tom Waits had been born a woman, he would sound like this

  • What a wonderful voice for a women!! Great song!

  • A wonderful example of how less is more.

  • it doesn't get much better than this. Delta blues, smoky vocals and dead one soulful instrumentals. Absolute perfection.

  • the soul just emits from every note....pure Delta blues refreshed with Cassandra Wilson's soulful voice. Absolutely perfect. ironmankop

  • great voice almost as good as Tina's

  • @ mariadelamor21: What is origin of song; is this about a lost love; or Dr. King, Jack Kennedy, Bobby, Ghandi... all of them? THX!

  • search youtube for "death letter " and " Son House"

  • бем ти живот што је добро!

  • hi_àÑYÔñÉ_wÁNÑã_chÄt_wÌth_më_έ_fèël_sø_lÕñÊlY_tÔdàY

  • Could you at least mention that this is a SON HOUSE song??

  • Heard it first of the Blue Note Jazz collection. Instant favorite =)

  • I love Sonhouse, but when I heard this, I was knocked out. The musicians did her right.

  • I love me some Cassandra Wilson. A voice that a mixture between cigarrettes and scotch/ honey and molasses Ha, Ha,Ha. This particular cd is awesome - "New Moon's Daughter". When I initially heard the first track, Billie Holiday's "Strange Fruit", I thought it was a guy singing. I've always preferred female singers who sing in their lower register. Thanks Maria

  • @lalin59 Thank you for your special comment!!

  • @lalin59

This morning on KCSM I heard Wilson's Go To Mexico. I thought it was a man singing.

Boy, does she have a great, unique voice. I'm a fan. Anyone want to recommend an album purchase for me?

    Thanks ahead of time.

  • One thing that is missing from modern day soul singers is a controlled smooth established bass range, this pleases my ears to say this- Cassandra Wilson is not a victim of this epidemic- Nor does she over embellish with melisma. Enchanted

  • @pianojessica2000 I agree with what you say. I love melisma but it really is so over-used that it becomes annoying these days.

  • AMAZING!!!!

    Wooooooooow.....

    Thank you so much!!!

  • After my wife's, this is my favourite living woman's voice.period.

  • Goes Straight In.... THX !!

  • Fantastyc

    wuauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • @JNADIERED Thankssssssssssss

  • Fantastyc

    wuauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • @3floppy Yes, very cool!!!!

  • @3floppy Thanks!!

  • Simply fabulous!!!!!

  • @pnbibbins Yes, she´s very special. Great personality.

  • what will Sun House see?

  • she's so hot and sexy too

    ΜΑΥΡΗ θεΑ

  • AWESOME song - WONDERFUL voice!

  • @bitingontinfoil Thank you! Thank you so much.

  • white stripes version is better but this is still very heartfelt and emotional 2 thumbs up =]

  • I love Geoff Muldaur's version of this, but the sophisticated Ms. Wilson surprisingly takes it right down to the gut-thumping roots.

  • @tintosangre JAMES BLOOD ULMER GITS TOO RAW ON THIS ONE ON THE SUN SESSIONS RECORD. HIS VERSION IS REALLY DEEP TOO.

  • Oh yes! I needed to hear this!

  • Whatever. I "AM".

  • Wilson Has a voice that is similar to Nina Simone and like Simone can turn anything into a jazz or blues thing I used to have this disc. It's wonderful

  • She is one of the most exciting and interesting artists recording today. Not only does she have a great voice, she is fearless, takes chances, and has her own vision. She is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing!

  • Thanks for sharing - It would be a treat for her & Tracey Chapman to collaborate - Um melt the heart - Jazz on C Wilson - From a fellow Loc Goddess Jazz lover

  • This is originally a Son House song. Son House was born in 1902. Look for the original. YOu'll like it as well. This is good. Modern artists have been doing classic "roots music" for years. The names are endless, Clapton, Stones, even more recently, Christina Agulira.

  • This reminds me of a band called Iron and Wine. But I get what you're saying.

  • wow, that's fantastic. Great sound. I love this voice. ☼

  • Yes, she has very special voice and the music is very special too.

  • Thankful for your opinion.

  • @mariadelamor21 que bonito nick, muy amoroso

  • @jabberwock2006 Thanks

  • Love the guitar too. Nice texture..all time

  • when sun house sang it he came off sounding like a regretful womanizer. I'm a big "big" fan of this song.its cool as hell to hear her own this song.

  • @rockgod420z No he didn't, nonsense.

On the contrary, he was singing sadly about having loved her and not got love in return.

  • hey pelmazos....does anyone have any info about this song i saw on pbs (come on into my kitchen with Diane Reeves and Romero Lubambo?

This would be the equivalent of this jazz lady

  • I'm guessing you may be talking about "Come On In My Kitchen" ?

I think it was first recorded by Robert Johnson, but many have covered it.

If it's the same song, Keb Mo has a pretty cool moder version of it.

  • Wow. This lady has soul! Great voice, and it's cool to see this classic song brought to us from a new perspective.

    Great post. Thanks

  • Thank you so much for comment.

  • Great version, great voice, and music

  • Comment removed
