i loved dancing out in nature, and i didn't need any drug to come into altered states (i'm just saying that because i did not use drugs, but i am not against drugs either, it's simply a choice).

Look at the video im sending you. It is clear that we are not just "drunk" in this ritual, but there is the combination of pentatonic music, dramatic tunes, drumming, alcohol, dancing, bells on our back, hunger, exhaustion, and connection between the "goats" in order to get into an altered state. Look at the "goat" at the blue shirt, his movements (at the video i send you)!

cool i never heard of this greek fest before!

i like how these things seem the same all over the world, each place and time has their "shamans" who with dance, singing, breathing, drums, sometimes drugs go into an altered state.

i can connect with it and relate to it in the way of dancing all night long, when i used to go to goa parties.

This is truly fascinating, as the original mysteries and their meanings are lost to us. The Elevsinians and Bacchidic and Ursulinaarea were always belonging to a secret society as was the Oracles at Delphi and Elevsis, home of the Hierophante. Someday this will be re-discovered.

its a ritual with roots in ancient hellenic fiestas and mysteries. Through dancing, pentatonic music and alcohol they try to get into an altered state of conciousness... The coal colour of their face makes them loose their real face, it is a mask. They loose their adentity and they are transformed into an ancient "Vakho"...
