great job! one of the memorable songs and visuals from the monkees i watched in syndication as a kid. with them trying to get frodus back to his ship up a hill. and mickey fell down.

I think I am able to post a higher quality version now that I have a competent video and audio converter.

I had this up in deviant art and sheezy cuz I never thought it would survive newgrounds XD

The converter says XVID HD avi so I will give that a go :D

Oh man, this is one of my absolute favorite videos! I love the song itself, and your graphic anime works wondefully with it! It really tells the story. I love how at the end the two kings and the battlefield disolve into a giant chessboard with the fallen kings. That's just how I envision it too. Only difference is I like to envision two of my favorite cartoon characters, The Black Spy and The White Spy from MAD's "Spy vs Spy" , as Zor and Zam. Thanks for posting this great video!

The Monkees are part of my childhood when the TV show was current back in 1967. I loved their music when I was a kid, and now appreciate songs like this as an adult looking back on it. This is a great song...

This is one of my favorite songs - one that, unfortunately, is not very well known.

I'm glad you did 'The Birds, The Bees, and The Monkees' version, which I think is musically superior to the version that was aired on the show in 'The Frodis Caper'.

featuring the ones I think are most haunting or fun, I like the Buy me a dog joke version where Mikey is interrupted by Davey, or Door into Summer wich is in my opinion better than circle ssky and at par with Do I have to do this all over again.

They DID play their own instruments, and they were good musicians.

David had already put out a record before he was a Monkee, Mike and Peter were making a living as musicians, and Mickey was in a band before the Monkees.

After the first two records (when they weren't allowed to do more than sing), they started playing on the records and writing some of the songs.

And this is a great song. One of my favorites.
