you can't compare metal to regular rock music....so u cant compare rap to hiphop (2 diff types of music) metal=devil worship killer music / rap= money hunger killer music. Rock=conscience knowledgeable lyrics / hiphop = conscience knowledgeable lyrics so stfu!

@Sazaho Because they are brainwashed zombies that cannot rap. I wouldn't want any of the modern 'rappers' attempting to destroy this classic style of rap. It would be like a dreadful remake. Best to leave oldskool as we remember it, classic.
I read about the last 40 posts, people are reading a little too deep into this with some of the negetivity ive seen . This is some dope rap considering the era. It started here. And those people in the audiance if u listening they are having a great party with what they thought was some new shit. As far as complaints about steeling samples from other songs, well thats the whole point, taken samples, adding cuts, and as time goes on, thrown down some mutha fukin bass in there! Crazy beats with
This was the second rap record ever, I saw it on Top of the Pops in 1979, rap(yes rap) was still a novelty, still that strange talking thing people did over other people's music. Who would have thought years later youth culture would be overrun with the progeny of this interloper of the music biz.
@yallop9 Yet all White musicians from all genres steal from all Black musicians and given praise, money and attenion for their lack of originality...and mysteriously, not a word is said from those same people objecting to rap. Irony much????
@MyJunior1975 whites stole blacks music? I been down with rap before BLACKS could buy the shit in stores and all I ever heard was the WHITE MUSIC of the 60's and 70's being samples buy the no talent rappers.
@MyJunior1975 You might not be a racist, but you write like an angry black man. True, there were situations where black artists weren't given credit by the corporate music industry, but all of that has come to light. You aren't telling anybody anything new. As a matter of fact in a lot of cases it was white artists and agents who got pissed and made sure that the original, black artists were given credit. Chess Records, Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones are just a few who stood up.
@BluesElement Angry black man? Hardly. In fact, I am far from it. I just saw a couple of people who made innoucuous- and very false- statements, and all I did was correct them in their mistakes.
@MyJunior1975 Ok, maybe you aren't an angry black man. You are however, reaching a little bit with your vocabulary as if you are trying to come across as smart, too. Maybe you feel the need to prove yourself. Instead you misspelled the word, innocuous, by adding a "u" before the "c" and over stated the idea of false when you used the word, very, in front of it. Something can't be more false than false. Statements are either false or not. LOL!!! Just having fun.
@BluesElement Sorry about that, I was in a hurry to type because I was about to got to work. What does get my goat is the flagrant ignorance towards music and the complete lack of knowledge of the history of music. I am very disappointed over the revisionist history that takes place over the internet. This is very prevalent on YouTube, as I have gotten into numerous arguments over music- some of it with youngsters, and some of it with adults.
I didn't see your comment as your being an "angry black man" it seemed collected to me.
You shouldn't have apologized to BluesElement (certainly you know his ilk by now.) b/c you definitely didn't owe him that. You should of told him in no uncertain terms to go fuck himself as soon as he started in on patronizing you with BS like "you are trying to come across as smart" & berating your typos.
I suppose he'd rather you fit his stereotype of being anything but "smart"?
@MyJunior1975 In all sincerity I understand the arguments that you are speaking of. I corrected my grandfather on the origins of Jazz once and he almost belted me in the mouth. He was pissed at me for suggesting that black folks or the Creole culture had anything to do with the creation of Jazz/Swing music. He's from Baton Rouge, LA and he was born in 1922. I thought that he knew, but he wasn't a musician or interested in history. He was, unfortunately, an angry white man.
Indeed "Eric Clapton,The Beatles,The Rolling Stones" were out spoken but that was later when it was PC to do so. Some even came out & said how they're music was solely influenced on the "black sound" (if U will).
Can U direct me to a vid that shows any of those white artist taking a hard stance back when it would of counted the most?
I'm convinced that what U seem to think is now in "the light" that the masses of whites (& many blacks) sadly don't know that history.
@farronx It always counts the most. You don't know the ilk of which I am. I don't believe that black people are monolithic in their attitudes, ability or beliefs, nor are whites. Therefore, I don't subscribe to stereotypes. The Beatles, RS, Allman Bros and Clapton were all instrumental in the education of where The Blues and Rock music came from. That happened in the 60's when they were first on the scene, before PC. They never hid their views. They even toured with each other. Look it up.
It does my heart well to reserve hope w/ your Marley quote.
I meant no absolute judgement/disrespect of your ilk;I simply took notice to your condescending tones which happens to be the 1 something that send me into a vendetta kinda mood.
I don't dispute that they & all others full well knew the history of the music in which they & theirs fed off,I stand w/ the facts that the authors weren't given full due of their seeded oats instead they received a pat & table scraps.
@farronx Me only have one ambition, y'know. I only have one thing I really like to see happen. I like to see mankind live together - black, white, Chinese, everyone - that's all.
@MyJunior1975 Not all music was stolen. Music is also a natural given for humans. Some was stolen, and some was inspired. And some originated from different ethnic groups. Although, one could also say a lot happened side by side.
"It's a well known fact that all forms of music originated with people of African descent"
Err, all ethnic groups ancestors were black in the beginning, so we all are the descendents of the originators;
I gotta hear K-Blows Christmas rappin each year or it just ain't Christmas!!! That's Old Skool! Nice beat, basslines, makes you dance without cursing, talking about Fing, drug selling, or calling another Brotha N!gga in every other sentence.... Dig? Anyway,Merry Christmas Yall !!!

@Whadzup100 You maybe mean the bassline from "Another One Bites The Dust", from Queen... Don't you ? Actually, the line is a bit different here, but I felt like it was the same the first time too.
I remember hearing this Xmas 79 on the way to my grandmothers house, it changed my life! I memorized the lyrics by the time xmas vacation was over and everyone at school thought I was the shit.
Yes this is truly the best RAP there was/is. It all went down when rappers started rap battling because thats when it got nasty and started talking about B's and H's and money. Back then rappers didnt care to mention money in their raps they kept it clean and smooth. This sh!t goes hard.
Man... there is Nothing like the classic OLD School rap to bring you back....Theirs so much feeling attached to this music...Makes me miss the 80's sooo much, who knew we would look back and think it was such a simpler time??? Blows my mind when kids now a days consider tupac and Bone as old school
Kanye West is under fire because of February's Rolling Stone cover.
Wearing a crown of thorns with blood running down his face, the rapper posed as Jesus Christ for the cover shot.. Inside the publication, Ray West, a sociology professor and former Black Panther, takes his son to task. Evidently Kanye's father disapproves of the degrading lyrics in his son's songs...Newsmax, google it.

@oldschoolhunter There are a few things you need to know before you start running off at the mouth:
One: I'm not a racist, nor a muslim
Two:That music of those White artists you love and cherish so dearly had music that was largely influenced and stolen from Black performers
Three: It's a well known fact that all forms of music originated with people of African descent
Again, think before you speak- otherwise you're just making yourself look infantile
