  • i use a pump instead of toothpicks...call me unprofessional...

  • which the negative side of the cap? and how do you install it on the board?

  • @Mrinfoone The negative side would be the one that has a white stripe and "-" symbols running down it. Install it the same direction you took the old one out. Some boards have a small white square next to the side the negative pin goes.

  • A little bit of flux goes a long way to desoldering old joints.

  • looks like that iron is not grounded... that's really bad

  • Perfect!

  • Great video, plus that there was no music. Some voice would help, to help guide through... Thanks though got the job done!

  • a good quality fine braid does a better job

  • Thanks for sparing us the music. People really do love their shitty techno and heavy metal.

  • WHERE'S THE SOUND??!!

  • Wonderful Instructions!

  • ye theres this great new product on the market calddesoldering wick

    (sarcasm)

but u should really considering using something that can't cath on fire or smoke

as it could damage heat sensitive componenets

  • @MegaMario202 I reacted on that too. My though was, however, there is a risk of the copper strip to come loose. You can actually pull out the electrolytic capacitor "cold". The pind will pop out of the capacitor and you can much easier use this desoldering method on the two pins alone. Ofcourse this only works with dried and bad capacitors, as the capacitor will be unusable anyway after pulling.

  • Those are actually called axial capacitor leads...radial would be sticking out to the side..

  • easy and clear how to thank you

  • Great video, thanks very much

  • Great video wooooooooooow i hope u can keep posting stuff like that

  • thanks!

  • does it matter which way you put the capacitors go?

  • @edwin81595 on some it does on ceramic capacitors it doesn't matter but on electrolytic capacitors it does matter

  • does it matter which way you put the capicitors go?

  • Great idea the toothpick to remove tin from the hole!!! Tanks for uploading.

  • Thank you!! This may have saved me a LOT of money, Thanks!!!

  • When installing the new capacitor, how do you know which lead goes in which hole if the old capacitor doesn't have a plus and minus on it? I don't know how to read the schematics diagram. Help! Thanks!

  • @cwa57f If they are not marked then look for a stripe, which usually contains a minus sign. Also most will have longer lead for the positive terminal.

  • I plugged the 7” 120 V, 60 W soldering iron on a regular US out let and it started smoking, then I unplugged it, because I was afraid of fire. Is this supposed to be plugged in a regular USA outlet? Or it needs a special converter?

  • @Joenarbe Was it the soldering iron that was smoking, or the outlet? If it was the soldering iron, where was it smoking from? Was it a new soldering iron, or was it used? A soldering iron plugs into a regular electrical outlet in the wall. It's possible to get some smoke from the tip of the iron, especially if the tip isn't "tinned" properly. The soldering iron shouldn't be smoking from the plug, wire, or handle area. If this is the case, you may need to replace it.

  • Good video. I'm about to attempt to fix my vizio tv

  • Hee hee. That was fun to watch!
