  • Did they get inspiration from the trout mask replica album though?

  • Soo Dirty, Love it

  • Love Iggy's growl at the end.

  • Lyrics:

OOOOOOOW OOOOOOWWWW WOOOOOW CANNONBALL UPSTUMPUTPA HELLO HELAY OOOOWWWW WOOOOW WOOOW WAAAH AAAAAAAAH WAAAAH JUMP IT UP MAY JAJXBHFBDSBHXBHKEKJFHSUFU WAAAH WAAAH DHFHDFGHEND RAAAPE ME RAAAAAAPE ROOOOOOW RAAAOW

    HUH

    HUH

    myyyy....myyyy...maaaahuuuh

  • @ElDuderino244 Nice work!

  • sends chills down my spine...

  • I'm sure Nirvana used this as an inspiration for Endless, Nameless. Could be wrong though.

  • I bet that this was scary as hell, in the early 70's....

  • @Brollyhero93TOP10 according to my uncle, he played this song to a crowd that was heavily into the beatles at his friend's party while he was on his dj'ing duties back in 1972...needless to say, there was complete silence. Next thing you know, he was immediately replaced. History has proven that anything ahead of its time will either be feared or misunderstood right then but will be appreciated later on. Same thing happened to blue cheer and black sabbath when they first hit the music scene.

  • @Brollyhero93TOP10 Sent the hippies running.

  • Aaaaahhhh fuaaaaack hahahaaaaa!!!

  • like free jazz

  • mmmm....meaty

  • everybody! listen to coltrane, interstellar space! this song could be inspired by that record! not?

  • @honeyflymusic I think the stooges were DEFINITELY inspired by free jazz-era Coltrane. The Velvet Underground were, too.

  • This sounds like musical rape

  • a master piece of demency:)

  • The Stooges: A punishment for your sexual desires that release bliss.

  • AAAHHHHHHOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Can someone give me lyrics to this song?

  • I FUCKING LOVE THIS RAW!!! SHIT MAN!!! YEAHHH!!!

  • Suddenly, free jazz.

  • AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MUCH ANGRY !very avent garde )

  • Check out Sun Ra's "Shadow World" in West Berlin if you want to understand what LA Blues is about.

  • this is jack white(white stripes) and cee lo geen (gnarls barkely) favourite album ever and is one of my favourite personal too

  • @ColdOasisU2 & steve albini

  • Comment removed

  • @ColdOasisU2 is that true about Cee Lo? Did you read that some where?

  • I like the part where Iggy goes "RAAAAGHAGHEGGEHGHAGHGHRGHRGRHGAHGRAHARAHRGH!!!!!"

  • really this is mainly just Iggy Pop screaming... i love it :D

  • I listened to this on pot after not getting high for two years. It was like a 5 minute orgasm.

  • i wanna get the biggest subwoofer the got and blast this song right now

  • I just shit out my eyeballs.

  • now i know where Jonathan Davis from Korn got inspired to scat

  • @egodrive

I doubt the Stooges inspired KoRn.

  • AAAAUGH AAAAAAAUGHH WAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH and then, pure madness.

    Fucking Stooges man.

  • soundtrack for any nightmare

  • Sums up the chaos of the month it was recorded: May 1970.

  • @LaxATivvz LOL! Right!

  • It's free jazz fused with punk rock. No wave before no wave. If you listened to the right music, then this would make a hell of a lot more sense.

  • @Megajosh2 -very true.

  • holy god that song had an orgasm and jizzed all over the mainstream's face.

  • @shoekstra1419

That was the best comment I've ever read.

  • @shoekstra1419 lolz but wtf

  • I like the way it hurts :)

  • The whole point of a track like this is to shock the listener, and this accomplishes that very purpose. This is not Iggy's showcase but rather Ron Asheton's, with his squealing and howling guitar. Playing something like this publicly would certainly provoke a reaction from people. This type of sound would scare little kids. The Stooges recorded a 17-minute version of this too which they simply titled "Freak". and it's even crazier than the official 5-minute version.

  • Pure release. My second-favorite last-track on an album ever.

  • @touchandgod what's your favourite last track on an album then?

  • NIN's "Hurt".

  • It's like a shriek of existential despair and yet life-affirming at the same time. I love the animal roaring. Also, everyone says it's an instrumental but Iggy is clearly saying SOMETHING.

  • amazing record. just gets weirder and more aggressive, till you reach LA blues where it sort of goes off into space. a bit like "european son" at the end of the first velvet underground album. husker du did it too, on "zen arcade", slayer did it on "reign on blood". lots of good albums end that way: just total collapse.

  • If they drop the bomb tomorrow, the only things that left on Earth would be cockroaches and Iggy Pop! The man is INDESTRUCTABLE!!!

  • After hearing this gloriously filthy chaos I just want to say the word "fuck." Not incredulously or in disbelief, it just makes me want to feel that word go past my lips with all the dirt and grit you can tack onto it, and just putting it out there. Fuck.

  • delightful :)

  • This is noise in purest most beautiful form. I absolutely fucking adore the sound of this magic. I love how the Birthday adapted such a similar sound especially in their cover of Funhouse. Im inlove with any creator of loud, distorted, horrid, fedback, scratchy noise. I get a shiver up my spine on the part when it sounds like he's repeating 'rape me' at 2.20. Absolutely brilliant...brilliant!!!

  • Iggy Pop's howling sends shivers down my spine! He sounds like a mad monkey!

  • Fantastic psychedelic heavy hard rock blues jazz rock

  • this song expresses exactly how i feel when im stuck in L.A. traffic on a hot sweaty day with no job. the title is very fitting!

  • this is vicious

  • Iggy really didn't need to write "Raw Power". He already unleashed it here.

  • Grrrande per i post! Solo proto-punk no! They look like proto-brankiosaure.....

  • cosa? Non ho mica capito....

  • that sax just sounds horrible, i fuckin love it

  • I love noise like this.

    Like some Sonic Youth tracks.

    It's like multiple orgasms.

  • VACUUM CLEANER!!

  • it's not a song, it's a howl of rage and despair. I love the bit where he's growling like an animal.

  • this album was supposed to capture what theyre live shows were like. the album was recorded live in the studio in order. at the end of a stooges show the last song wudnt just end they keep jammin keep goin and just loose themselves try to do with their insturments what iggy did with his body and just fuckin let loose go nuts and thered be this huge wall of reverb and distortion and it wud be insane. cant really capture that in a studio but this was the attempt

  • There is this one song by nirvana called endless nameless and its alot like this.

  • @JesusFreak288 endless nameless is the song that became lithium

  • this is not meant to be a song the way it is usually meant to be. This is anger, confusion and energy, and it is so intense. After more than 30 years, It still so fuckin intense

  • Now that's a damn hard song to cover :P

  • with all due respect, but this track ain't 'nothing', 'alienation-wise', compared to Lou's Metal Machine Music-70's-album..

(don't get me wrong..they're both great, Lou and Iggy, as well as Lennon and Bowie: probably 'The Big Four'..)

  • I used to listen to Fun House and skip this last track all the time. One time i was going through depression and anxiety and i listened to this song and i actually like it. Now i don't mind it.

  • They should play this 24/7 @ gitmo for all the nice detainees.

  • ¿Anyone know the lyrics to this song? =S

  • I read in a music mag years ago that this track came about during one of Iggy's "heroin kicks". Maybe that's why it sounds so f#cked up!

  • Thats true,I read about that in an article too, but that was the sound they were trying to accomplish.

  • Where I'm at now, the song has somehow worked for me.

  • dude no ofense.but how dare you to call this a crap and a rip off?i mean .what good acts.could we really get from an unhappy person like you?i think you d have no life to live to make such a great achivment the stooges had back then.you would still be 400 years old not even making a great song like this and fuck you ididnt mean to offend you.

  • This is my 'hangover curing song'.

  • ur taste in music is absolute garbage

  • Don't thumb him down, he's right.

  • @boxwi yoyo is right it's meant to be bad.

  • it took me a while to like it. maybe you should perservere..

  • You miss the point...its garbage yes, but thats the beauty of it. Its ment to make you cringe and say stop! its anger and pain, screaming out and letting your self g because youve got nothing else to do!....thats how i see it.

  • @thebigfatyoyo Speak the truth, amore.

  • @thebigfatyoyo Uh... I don't think that's the intent of the song. If that's the case, then people could say that about most experimental/avant-garde music. They probably do anyways because a lot of music listeners have no clue what they're talking about when it comes to this genre. I certainly wouldn't call this "garbage" either... But I suppose music is up for individual interpretation.

  • @thebigfatyoyo Because thats how the world makes artists feel.

  • @boxwi Yes may sound really crappy, but it releases anger. A lot of people bottle it up and end up getting a heart attack. So scream while you listen to this, turn it up loud and you will fell better when you are angry!

  • @Ew1t

I think is pure metallic and jazzy art. This kind of music i like. I hate pointless noise and macho behavior like many other bands do.

  • @loamsold I know man. It is a mix of free form jazz with real dirty rock n' roll! Iggy Pop and the Stooges all the way brother. I see what you are saying a poser bands, they suck big time. The Stooges were never posers which is great, they were artists. They did not care about they money, they just cared about playing and having fun. Even though Iggy was shirtless the whole time, it was to scare the crap out of everyone. Not for just looking boss. But he does look really boss.

  • I wonder what Robert Johnson would say about this...

  • Ol Rob would probably cum in his pants.

  • Tonight I didn't want to look for this album in my room, there's too much mess all around here, so thank you very much for this whole wonderful sharing!

  • this sounds lik esum mars volta, and the guitarist from that bands side project stuff with the art noise lol

  • Musical History!

  • There is a 17 minute of this on the Fun House sessions. A complete Freak Out and scary as hell.

  • this is more listenable than lou reeds metal machine music.....and some velvet underground noise freakouts

  • RIP Ron Asheton.

This song is the reason the pretenders can't deal with these boys--Satanic head fucks--the way they're supposed to be done.

  • modal jazz meltdown. I love this track.

  • nice

  • a song like this probably had more effect when it came out because now most people could chand the track with a button. thats why live performances are cool because ur gunna hear what the bands gunna be playing and there is no escape.

  • yeah, but who would want to change it?

  • @rocknrollporn unless you find the exit.....

  • @polerbear1000

    hahahahaha ok

but if i paid 2 get in im not gunna leave cuz its too noisy
