Shankar was a great musician I can't believe film industry neglected him when he died. So cruel where all these actors who imitate western actors and musicians from Charlie Chaplin to the Beatles. So much for Bollywood crap.
I remember having attended this Gala program and it is in my mind like it happened yesterday! Raj Saab is superb and he even had danced on the Song "Bol Radha Bol"
so far I remember, the great showman Raj Kapoor sung this song at brabourne stadium, Bombay before release of MERA NAAM JOKER. I donot remember the exact year but it was NAVal NIGHT organised by Navy. I was surprised but when he was singing and dancing whole stadium was thrilled.
wht a golden time was tht . so many exceptional god sent talents . list is on & on & on & on. Raj Kapoor Saab u were n always be the real showman . I didnt know u can sing so well. almosr perfect. & this is also true tht so many of the gr8 SJ tunes have been made possible with ur contributions too. hats off
His personal quarrels and problems did not affect the fine art of film making .Yes! he may have been shelfish and tight fisted do not disrespect great work of dream making
Raj Kapoor might have been a great filmmaker but he was a very selfish man in real life. He abandoned Shankar after Jaikishen's death. So much so that he did not even attend Shankar's funeral when the immensely talented musician died in 1987.
@sunnyscs no sunny u have very poor info do u know that R K was not in very good heath in that period and how u can expect him not to be with the people in their last time with whom he he started his journey i m a hindu and ram is my lord and raj kapoor was lord of Bombay the indian film industry u can ask the living legends like Lata Manna dey Ravindra jain Suresh wadkar And many More he is Lord Ram of Indian film Industry U meet me i will tell u +919911259696
After "Aag",Raj Kapoor again hired Ram Ganguly for his next film "Barsaat".But during its making he had a big argument with Ram Ganguly.Very angry,RK immidiately went to Prithvi Studios and picked out Shankar-Jaikisan from the orchestra and Shailendra-Hasrat Jaipuri for lyrics.Mukesh he already had used in "Aag".

The composers are SHANKAR JAIKISHAN they gave music from 1949 to 1971 when Jaikishan met an untimely death. The had the most musical hits than any other composers in bollywood. 90% or more of their compositions were hits. Their consistency is even now unmatched! They were responsible for changing music in bollywood during this period. They were the best!
Raj Kapoor was indeed a good singer as I can see from this old clip.He may not have created those everlasting tunes with his discovery & favourite music directors Shanker-Jaikishen,but definately he must have induced them to creat such memorable songs.Raj Kapoor's knowledge of music is evidently seen from the way he sang this song. No wonder he personaly hand picked Shailendra,Shanker-Jaikishen,Hasrat Jaipuri & Mukesh who themselves went on to become cult figures in the hindi film industry.

Raj Kapoor was actually a joker, not an actor, he was a die-hard fan of Charlie-Chaplan whom he immitated in all his movies.
