  • Its sad because Pompei and Caesar were friends. They didnt want to fight each other, but the senate turned them against each other.

  • Caesar! Caesar! Poor Pompey, he was awesome too, but..... Caesar!

  • Please stop with the baseless conspiracy theories? Although I would not be surprised if the American government allowed it to happen to gain support for its oil wars. Unfortunately this hardly worked as only americas closest allies even cared about 9/11 and America's selective morality. 3000 Americans die omg! 35000 Iraqis die 5 seconds on CNN.

  • Sooo, does that mean that 9-11 was an inside job?? or what?

  • so what movie is this?

  • @TheDavid2222

    Julius Caesar (2002).

  • and in his honor americans created Little Ceasars Pizza......... lol "pizza pizza"

  • pompey was killed by a centurion whom used to serve him,

  • Pompey was horribly overrated as a general. He took years to put down an insurgency in Spain led by Sertirious. And he only succeded because Sertirious was killed by his own men. Then he took credit for putting down Spartacus' rebellion when it was really Crassus. The pirates he took on were actually paid off so there was no serious fighting ( a la General Petreaus). He bribed, lied, cheated his way into Counsulship and was eventually defeated by a real general - Caesar.

  • dont you never forget guys that the history is not always the truth of what happened in those days.....

people wrote down in those days more for gods and when they did write down what happened in everyday life they did it because of interest they had and how do we know that, that was the whole truth of the story.....

we are in the 21st century and we still dont know what really happens when its a war going on and WHY,despite of the tecnology we have..

history is good but dont always believe...

  • @mariglen1 You're absolutely correct, mariglen1, thanks for your post, because it makes a very important point. Nothing we read or hear in todays media is usually truly and fully accurate. What sense does it make to assume it any other way in the days of yore? Humans haven't changed one bit.

  • What kind of lame music is this ? Can't you do better for the Roman Empire ? ? ?

  • Republic to Empire? Sounds like America.

  • ITALIAN PRIDE!!!!

  • this civilian war was a great tragedy to Empire...

  • What character does Christopher Walken Play

  • @huizewolters

    Cato Minor.

  • After watching movies like this, like spartacus, i really despise hand guns then i dont. lol I would like fighting in a arena.

  • Era - Infanati

  • Very well done condensation of the story with both the simple facts and action scenes from the movie. I very much enjoyed this. Thank you.

  • The glory that was Rome

  • It's funny people never mention policy differences when they talk about Roman politics, just a load of guff about so and so's "power". Caesar brought many positive reforms, that's why the people loved him. Ironically, while using Caesar's name to bolster himself, Augustus undid many of those reforms.

Why was one murdered and the other free to reign as Dictator for life? It's something to do with the Patricians, I'll tell you.

  • @DerBlitzStag incorrect caesar did not bring positive reforms jsut more vicious centralized statist terror and alloofness the age of rome even giving the pretence of reservations and honor and integrity gave way to mass murdering madness out the ass. All Caesar did was further destroy the economy cause more slaverty and more unemplyment states dont create jobs or productive ones for that matter only poverty and debt alogn with tazationa nd inflation

  • @deltapunk21 This is a load of politically inspired bullshit.

    1) By allowing Gauls and other non-Roman citizens to have seats in the Senate, Caesar was making the Empire more inclusive and less of a centralised rich-Roman club 2) Sulla, the traditionalist who served patrician interests, was a mass murderer. Caesar on the other hand was famous for his clemency, that's why he was assassinated and Sulla wasn't, Caesar still had a Senate full of very much alive Pompeians whom he had pardoned.

  • @deltapunk21 3) Caesar enacted the cancellation of the common peoples debts, and sought to prevent the Particans illegally seizing land from the Plebs, freemen and Proletarians, a practice rampant under the so-called "Republic" 4) Caesar was the first Roman to fully respect the religious rights of Jews

    What an awful man!

  • Pompey was killed as he landed in egypt but one of tyhe men who killed him who was in the service of the ptolemaios had actually served with pompey in spain 25 years before as a centurion . The egyptian army of the day was formed into copy legions and actively recruited roman centurions to run them . The egyptians hoped to gain favor with ceaser for this dark deed .

  • great video!

  • This makes me play Grand Ages: Rome.

  • The name of the first song;

  • what the song you use for your movie

  • power and violent death - they are always been hand to hand.

  • I liked both Pompey and Julius Caesar- funny, though because Pompey shares my birthday- September 29

  • Pompey was killed by both. Lucius Septimius was the leader of the Roman guard of the Egyptian Army, and Achillas was the Egyptian army's general. Ptolemy's Eunuch, Pothinus, convinced the boy king he would win Caesar's favor by dispatching Caesar's enemy... obviously that backfired for the little boy... and Pothinus. Septimius was also executed. Achillas was murdered by Cleopatra's sister, Arsinoe.

  • Pompey was killed by his own men because of Caesar; so as a poetic justice, Caesar met with the same fate. Infact its intresting that he died at the feet of Pompey's statue!!

  • That is not correct. Pompey wasn´t killed by his own men but by the men of the egyptian king Ptolemaios. Futhermore Caesar didn´t want him to die. In fact he wanted to show his clementia even against him.

  • @Princepsmaximus Achillas, Septimius and Salvius were the three assasins who were Romans and Pompeys betrayers.

  • @Princepsmaximus

You're partly right he was killed by one of his ex-centurions who was on Ptolemeus service; his death although not ordered by Ceasar was handy.

  • @Princepsmaximus

yup yup, ceasar wept at the sight of pompey's head, and though the hatred he now had for the Egyptian king, sided with Cleopatra in the civil war... thats how she became queen

  • @Princepsmaximus Good correction.

  • @Princepsmaximus tell that to my history teacher

  • @Princepsmaximus its said that the man who slew Pompey was one of his old veterens. he was in the employ of the pharoh.

  • @Princepsmaximus A bit late, but Caesar is said to have wept at the sight of Pompei's head. However, that could be Caesar's propaganda machine.

  • @SV2609 and caesar kidnap the young king or egyptian, and the young king was kill by a javlen from a roman solider

  • @SV2609 Pompey fled to Egypt but was slain there by Ceasers allies

  • Julius Caesar (2002)

  • @Warisntwar

No, Alexander the Great was greater then all of them. Within 10 years he created the biggest empire on earth. Never in history conquered one man so much and never will be in future.

  • @lucius1976 An empire which collapsed when he died. Rome lasted 500 years and still lives with us today

  • @bulked it didnt collapse as it just became multiple different empire, and Greek culture greatly influenced Roman culture. The Greek diadochi kingdoms tht formed in Alexanders place lasted a long time the last one tto fall being the Ptolemaic empire if Im not mistaken. Also Alexander died before he could set up a proper heir to the thrown and if he was alive long enough i think his empire woldve remained one

  • @lucius1976 nobody can tell the future. and lets be realistic Macodon VS the persians was kind of like the usa vs iraq the macodons had better training better equipment better coordination and better leadership its not that hard to see how alexander defeated the persians

  • @Quentin0000000000 the macedonians were also greatly outnumbered inevery single battle

  • @lucius1976 alexander the great definately number 1 caesar 2 and pompey 3

  • was the name of the song in the begining

  • Pompey was not considered a good leader and bullied his way to his positions.

77BC: Became propraetor against Lepidus. To be propraetor 1 had to hold the postion of praetor. Not here. He bullied the Senate and used his army.

70BC:Pompey's 1st consulship after intimidating the Senate. He didnt hold any of the offices b4 1st consul so he broke the rules.

    80-72BC: War against Sertorius

After being defeated at Lauro and Sucro Pompey got lucky bcos Sertorius was murdered by his 1st officer

  • He was a simple guy, he was not inteligent, he was not rich, he had not a good family...

  • 3:10 ......such a horrible Marc Antony.

  • Yeah, he looks like an mexican xD

  • romans are decended from mexicans? are you RETARD? Romans were LATINS - WHITE, today mexicans are decendets from mix between White Spaniards and Indians = Mestiks... ofcourse Spaniards from spain are decendets of Romans in their spanish language.

  • it's called sarcasm, and absurdity, Mr Cannotakeajoke

  • well ok, how could I knew you was joking... this was pretty serious statement lol thought that I can learn you if you dont know :) greetings

  • Very good, and very interesting!

  • I as a young sailor I had the privilege of visiting the ruins of Pompey. It's strange how the eruption perserved such much there.
