That Coating will do absolutlety nothing. The ramp will be rotten in 6 months. You should have used all ACQ PT lumber and plys (only a few bux more) with a Skatelite riding surface. All that work- Man what a waste !!!!
That ramp is beautiful! Looks like a perfect setting for it. If you truly know what you're doing it is possible to make something like that in 2 days. The hardest part is getting it level and finding a good transition, but other than that it's basically just cutting a bunch of 2x4s and sticking them together, then topping it off with plywood.
haha guys i beleive him aye he cld have done it easy like he just has to get the stuff then in one day cut all the wood to size an put it together like a jigsaw
agreed 2 full days would have been impossible even for a single experienced carpenter using a nail gun. speaking of nails, i fear for your hands, knees and shins when those nails work themselves loose.
can you please make a list of the tools and a list of the materials you used please? i would really appreciate it because I will make a half pipe in the summer and i just want some guidelines to help me
Hi dude very nice ramp and ofcourse its doable in 2 days especially when you have that much of experience and the cutting is nothing i built a ramp myself and the cutting of 80 bars took me a half hour and the cutting of the thick plywood took about 10 minutes a piece but not saying its not hard though but i have one question , how many layers of plywood did u use cuz i used one layer of bendable 0.4'' plywood but im not sure if it will hold the ramp is just finished today
Hey man, I love the ramp and was wanting to build a 6ft halfpipe myself. Do you have ramp plans for this that you would be willing to share? I have built a few ramps, but i am definitely not a professional. Let me know and thanks.
dude, I don't mean to be the one but, there is no way that you built that in one day. Not possible for one person to finish by oneself in one day, nor a weekend. Just thinking about your cut list is crazy. Even if you built ramps for a living I don't think one person could finish a ramp of this size. Just saying. Oh and I am building one solo myself and I have about one full day in it and I haven't even got the flat or the deck done.
Say what you want. That was a two day project without the paint job. I was 39 yrs old with 27 yrs experience working with wood. Its a straight forward project with the right tools; laser levels, chopsaw station, cordless everything. So yes I did it alone in two days plus three trips to Home Depot. Believe it.
hey were did you get your plans? cus i was thinkin bout gettin my freinds together and start buildin one i just dont know how and thts probably the sickest ramp ever.
you really built this by yourself with no help? thats the shit that i do cuz my friends dont know how to do shit...lol but they love to skate it and drink beer while i build it
dosent it hurt if you fall? wouldnt you get a million splinters? is it easy to make because i want to make one. sorry for all the questions i just have no clue how to.
Red, Looks great. Would you change anything if you did it again? Do you like the 7'6" radius and 6' height for a skate ramp? thanks Have a Great Day! --4est
What rots is the deck. I used Waterlox Marine finish at the start and it lasted two years. Then the deck became very slick during wet conditions. It was like an algae coating. Only the 4wd dog could walk on it when wet.
hey man i was thinking on building a halfpipe ... 6 foot high and 10 wide ... its for bikes... do u think that will be big enough and how do u like draw out correct the side thing out of ply wood some 1 sed something about string or sumfing....? plz reply
Hey, awesome video...planning to build one same size for my sons 10th birthday..I have a few weeks. Question for you, if you don't mind, could you give me some info..as much as possible. First, how far apart are the joists spaced, and anthing else you can let me know that you think I should know to help! Much appreciated, Cory
Because it was easier and quicker to build it up off the ground. It didn't cost any extra to take some leftover pressure treated 6 by 6's to level the structure. Who said it was unstable? This ramp was solid with no racking at all. Plus wood doesn't like to be in contact with the ground.
thats a waste of money on the wood for the platform, u would have spend the same amount of time digging out the dirt and leveling the land as u did building that.
The blueprints are this video. What you need is to have the radius supported with 2 by at 6 inches on center. This gives it the rigidity so that your energy is not lost in the otherwise flexing wood. I have 11 feet of flat and 7.5 foot radius at 6 feet high.
i could easily build the frame in 1 day, and possibly put the plywood down

This is 16 feet wide. It was a nice comfortable ride just pumping back and forth. BMX would be nicer if it were 24 feet wide. Bigger is better.

Plywood was coated with Waterlox UV Marine finish. It lasted a good 3 years. Then it started to fail. Could only ride BMX on it. Too soft to skate.

hey. i'm plaing on building a half pipe,
6' on one side 4' on the other
8' wide
a 2 foot drop from the 6' side
now what my big question is,
the coping some ppl are saying 3in, 2 in, 1.5 in??? what should i do?
and how does the plywood skate?
please respond
Snowboarder9415 3 years ago
Plywood skated nice. will have to replace every 3 years.
