  • Was your poor tilly shouldn't have done what he did it's nobodies fault but his.

  • 52Hz-Whale and Tilly could be friends <3

  • you can never take a killer out of an animal :(

  • FOR GOODNESS SAKE PEOPLE! I cant believe how many people are making videos saying "oh Tilikum is so lonely, Oh he is horrible' and all that rubbish! his species are bread to kill and swim far and long, they are not bread for our stupid entertainment and to be kept in a small tank...It's makes me sick. Why can't we just let them be free? We dont need to watch and look after every animal in thwe world! they can look after themselves just like we can! they dont interfier with our life!

  • Even though they use Tilikum for breeding they really should do what is best for him and put him somewhere else and give him a chance of being happy. Whales in captivity need that interaction and if they can't give him that they need to let him go I don't think this is right...he's an animal. It's a shame what happened to Dawn and all but treating this whale like this is wrong!

  • I, I, I, I. Shut up woman!

  • i don'y understand that she said he dosen't know wat he has done well he must know because he never see's his trainer that his done something

  • Poor poor beautiful animal, people should stand up for him and demand a better solution for him to spend his lonely life..........indeed a sea-pen would be so much happier for him to live in, and then maybe in time a release back into the wild?? This is so cruel to let him be like this........my heart goes out for him!!! So sorry Tilly for the hurt and loneliness that we cause you.........

  • Don't know much about this.. BUT would he survive in the ocean ? oh yeah He killed Dawn.. very Sad, after all the training she did with him, RIP Dawn and much love to her family, but what should seaworld do with him ... chuck him back in the ocean and see what happens or keep him at seaworld and him alive and do what they are doing and also keep the trainers safe ....? It's a tough question , with no ideal answer ............ RIP Dawn, Keep Tilikum safe and alive .......

  • @KazzyUW this whale has killed 3 of it's owners. the whale should be REHABILITATED back into the wild.

  • orkas belong in a bassin

  • I'm 15 and I can see how cruel this is! It's so upsetting to see animals treating this way! There should be a law against animals in captivity. Poor Tilly!

  • the trainers where using a hose on him cus OSHA basically told them they are not aloud anywhere near him. As far as I know tilikum is back to getting physical contact from the trainers in the back, but not during shows, probably to decrease the probability of an attack while there are guests in the stadium. And for all of you saying Tilikum killed 3people, its not true. He killed Dawn. he was 'involved' in 1 and the other Tili had nothing to do with. Tilikums a sweetie really.

  • Of course Tilikum knew what he was doing, but he doesn't understand why he was punished. A wild animal is meant to be wild for a reason, he should at least be in a sea pen or something? Just the ole opinion

  • its better if you let him go on the ocean and let him meet other killer whales so he wont be lonely anymore

  • :(

  • Take a look at what happened to Keiko. They thought the best thing for him after he was in captivity for so long was to release him. When animals are in captivity, they slowly get accustomed to human companionship, and their environment. When they released Keiko, he was always heading towards humans for contact, and eventually he died from pneumonia because he wasn't used to bacteria in the ocean. Unfortunately Keiko is the best example to use for captive vs wild animals. RIP Keiko.

  • this is fake tillikum had a partner in there with him they have toys to play with in their tanks they get rubdowns or pets everyday they are never lonely even at night they have a partner with him and if he was releaed in the wild he probably wouldnt even survive a week

  • @bloods2121 that orca was Taima who was generally the only whale who was put with tilikum becuase the other females bully him. Taima died on June 6th 2010 leaving tili alone for the majority of his time, he is now being put with trua and malia but did spent an extended time on his own with no toys and little interaction during park hours for over a year, that was not fair on him. No he could never be returned to the wild but an open sea pen setup would be an option

  • Yeah They should never take a orca out of the wild ever again. Yeah the ones that are there now can not be released back into the wild. Its bad enough there are many orcas already in captivity. They should find him a nice female and hope they can get along..

  • AP ENVIROMENT SCI: Releasing a longtime captive animal screws over the ecosystem.

  • I think it is too late to teach him how to deal with the wild. We can teach a baby, but not an adult. He might not be able to survive they release him to the wild. Poor whale. Just like us, animals need love and padding. He might not know why he is being treated this way. If he keeps being depressed like this, it will affect his health, especially with an very intelligent animal like this, his emotion is very strong.

  • He's not the loneliest anymore :) Trua performs with him all the time and the two are together a ton. Also he is performing in shows and the trainers are working to get closer to him so they can once again give him rub downs and other such things

  • SO LET HIM GO.

Not that I support captivity at all, but if they're not going to use him in shows for our selfish entertainment, LET HIM GO.

Why keep him in that tiny tank in his misery?

Also, I don't like how they're all scared and they're punishing him for killing a human, these are WILD animals, meaning they're WILD and not meant to be domesticated. Why is this a surprise at all?

  • One can tell that he is lonely and very sad. His fin wasnt up one minor second. I dont think it's ok to keep him there. They should let him go back into the ocean or try coming close to him again. If they keep this up, he might not be sad anymore, he might get really mad because they dont "love" him anymore and then, I dunno whats gonna happen. They should really try handling him like the other wales. Just try. :(

  • @beccyyyy But they can't because of OSHA. They're not allowed. Would you want to go in the sea when you knew there was a 12'000 pound, 22 foot long orca that killed 3 people swimming about? Tilikum does not have long left in him, I guarantee you that, so do you want yo spend millions of dollars the counry doesn't have, just so he can die half way there?

  • Dont know why everyones bitchin the whale killed a human? and all the humans are doing is well sittin it out like it should be its dangerous to go back in with the other trainers its not like the humans are gonna kill it it still gets fed would you rather it go back in the ocean where shit like shark finning goes on for those who dont know what that is its well in short words couple of guys catch a shark cut its fins out throw it back in the sea alive and the fins get sold or made into fin soup

  • This is why I don't take my kids to sea world, I've never supported the idea of having such huge beautiful animals ripped away from their natural habitat. So sad wish I could do something.

  • Why don't let the whale go.....

  • @riemertje because they would need to his pod and train him and i guess it's to much work for these people to help him....

  • He is the Charles Manson of killer whales.

  • this is really depressing!

  • Tilikum is not the only lonely whale in the world. There is a whale that the U.S has been tracking for a while, the whale's frequency is much higher then normal whales therefore other whales cannot here him. He has been swimming the ocean alone having no one able to hear him. Go on google and search up the loneliest whale in the world and you'll read about him, its quite heart breaking as much as this is.

  • @tubervan yes I saw that in a newspaper, it's very sad =(

  • If they let him go, he won't make it... But, he's really dangerous. I'm glad they're keepinghim away from people tbh. It really isn't safe. Didn't someone recently die from him the other day? But although, I do think he should have company.

  • this is so sad. I understand bc of the situation, however, its so sad that he lives that life now. Its almost like he's in jail and never is to be let out. I wish they would let him lose in the ocean, or help him find a pod, however, most animals that are brought up in captivity do not survive that well in the wild after being release. This is because they are unsure how to conduct their very lives in this new environment they never knew of. It's a very saddening thing. I feel so sad for him.

  • i think they should let him go , they seem selfish enough to be keeping him away from the others , i mean ... why can't they change the way things are now? calling him the lonliest whale in the world , why can't they just make a difference and actually let him out in the waters so he can make some friends -_- common sense?

  • IF THEY CANT USE HIM WHY CANT THEY JUST LET HIM GO?!

  • Why can't they just release him back with his pod? or will they no longer accept him? It makes me sick to know he's so depressed.

  • @kikiiimarieexx There is a good chance they won't and he wouldn't be able to survive. He has been in captivity for a long time as well so he won't function normally. They are trying to keep a safe distance before they start interacting with him. Safety Precautions. I'm sure they will soon as possible.

  • Seaworlds animals are never NEVER punished, Tilly will be back in the shows and the trainers are still interacting with him at a safe distance and hopefully when they can trust him more they can continue what they did before. What do you expect them to do release him? That would be a good idea if he wouldent DIE. You got this one shot of him in a sad mood but that does NOT prove he is depressed, punished, and unloved. He also hasother tank mates that are always with him exept for some short time

  • @DolphinTrainer101 For one, SW should've never taken him from his pod. They should've left him where he was, FREE. This Killer Whale will never be tamed. U might think they can, but there's enough evidence that you can not take the wild and natural behaviour away from any animal that is taken in the wild. Even young Lion cubs born in captivity will act upon their natural behaviour. Get real, his attack towards Dawn was a reaction of the way he's treated. Inhumane. He belongs in an ocean !!!!

  • @DolphinTrainer101 I have seen another video shot taken by another group taken over two days and he looked worse!!!!!! He is now just bobiing up and down in his barbaric cement torture chanber! Who on earh are you trying to fool?

Do you think this kind of treatment will make him TRUST them? Do people who have been put in isolation for years come out trusing or sociopathic?

Don't be pathetic. Whales are highly evolved and intelligent creatures.

  • While I do love animals more than anything, I do not support the Humane Society. I might as well express an opinion. I think it's awful that the Humane Society gave up on further helping animals, and instead made a deal in Ohio to ban the ownership of some exotic animals. While there are bad owners, they should have people inspect the homes of exotic animal owners monthly or something, not ban responsible owners from breeding them or getting new animals when their beloved pets die of old age.

  • He was the lonliest whale in the world and it was a mistake from seaworld keeping him this way. but things changed and hes gonna be in the new show and they're now interacting with him again

  • What do you expect. They are Americans who do not know how to treat other humans unless they adopt the American way of life. Its a wonder that they have not released this poor creature into the waters off Florida so that their trigger happy US Airforce pilots can use it for target practice.

  • That and just because an orca isnt moving doesnt mean he's depressed and praying for death. Ever heard of logging? Resting at the surface? Seen in both wild and captive orcas.

  • @flargmuffin92

wild orcas dont 'rest' for most of the day. They can swim for over 100 miles on one day, the rest very little. tilli is often seen laying in one place for hours and even most of the day. it is NOT natural behaviour.

  • I don't know if I should click like or don't like....

I like that this vid was posted but I hate the content...

  • they have to use tilly in the shows again!

  • These highly intelligent, social beings experience extreme stress and suffering when put on display in small tanks, with some being forced to perform in shows for the public's amusement.

  • Have you watch Anly and Angela it's a video at you tube if you go ther could you wright commets please.

  • This almost made me cry

  • Is this person serious? What does she think should be done? The whale has killed three people, and she thinks it wants us to pet it, and that we should pet it, because its depressed? I'm not a whale psychiatrist, so I don't know if she's right, but I do know it's wrong to put people in danger every day by putting them in close contact with an animal that has repeatedly, in separate incidents, killed people. So, the question stands, if he's depressed, what needs to be done?

  • @rwilli94 He shouldnt be there in the first place. What needs to be done is this industry needs to be shut down. If Sea World or any park like it dosent exist then there wouldnt be three people dead.

  • @rwilli94

what needs to be done, is he should go to a sea pen.

hed have the sights and sounds that were different everyday, keepers looking after him, and perhaps contact with wild whales, he would be able to hunt live fish and be mentally stimulated.

but sadly seaworld will never let him go as 1) he makes tham too much money from breeding

and 2) it would make them look like they are admitting that its cruel to keep them in captivity, and seaworld would never admit that.

  • @rwilli94 the people aren't in close contact with the whale, it's the other way round. he was the one taken out of his natural habitat and stuck in a fish tank with nowhere to run, he's only a danger because he's a KILLER whale who is now forced to spend all his time in close proximity with humans. seaworld is completely and utterly to blame for what happened, if you don't want killer whales to attack human beings, then for heavens sake leave them be!

  • give tillikum more attention then he wi be happier!!

  • Thats is so very sad

  • This is very upsetting and true but you were only there for 2 days which tbh is not enough evidence to be reliable. If you got more evidence which is more recent then it would be. Thankyou.

  • thats so sad...why they dont understand that what they do for many years was wrong..:-/ i hate that that they catched them from the wild..poor tillikum hope they never breed any wale in captivity...no wale should be in captivity!!

  • i dont think they will release him into the wild cuase it will be like jaws hunting people for revenge

  • Im sure this is only temporary

  • Poor tilly. He looks so life less. Now that Taima died back in June he feels more sad. Not petting him is ridiculous. I'm sure Dawn would not like this.

  • I posted here some coments and see how anti-captive people just don't care about differents opinion. You just think you always have reason...

  • Whether or not people agree on captivity, I think we can all agree he is depressed. Poor Tillikum :(

  • they should let him back in coz it wasnt his fault! he was probably depressed or thinking it was a game or something

  • I Barley know anything about Tilikum and havn't known him long but I have grown found of him and the first time my friend showed a video of him to me I knew he wasn't happy, seaworld should be shut down for Tilikum's sake and for his family's sake

  • Tillikum will die alone in the ocean if we set him free. He's now back to normal life, and his trainers still taking care of him as always. And about stay alone... You really believe it? Can't you see the dorsal fin of other orca at 0:58? And if you think he's depressed because he's not moving, I'll answer you it looks like he's taking a rest.

  • thnx 4 sharing this!

i really wondered how Tilikum was

    but he looks sad!

i really feel sorry for him

  • I know I'm kind of late posting on these videos, but I just wanted to point out something. Everyone is saying that the orca is just an innocent animal, and yet they are atributing human emotions to it. This is a logical falicy. You can't be animal and human at the same time. Just saying....

  • @RegisSorbin Humans are really just another animal..

    So.. YES you can.. :)

  • i found this so cruel and sad but can tilikum be released i mean will he survive?

  • You don't see Lolita or Kshamenk..

  • you do know when they are just lying like that, they are sleeping. they shut down half of their brain at a time, so they usually just swim around slowly.

  • any place where animals are held captive for people's enjoyment make me sick!! I think they are very cruel.

  • The loneliest Whale Is Lolita and Kshamenk!

  • Along with Lolita, who has been kept alone for over 30yrs! In a tank which is legally to small for her. Sea World, MSQ, & all other businesses keeping marine mammals in captivity NEED TO BE SHUT DOWN PERMANENTLY...

  • i love seaworld but i hate that they keep these giant animals, that used to have the whole world to roam,

  • No physical contact with his trainers anymore. He won't live for long like this.Depression sets in. Sad !!! These marine parks should be closed and banned

  • i feel bad for him....

  • He'll be even lonlier now that Taima has died, she was one of the only females that tolerates him.

  • Oh, wow...I did not know that. That's not right to shun him like that. If they're that scared of him, they should reintroduce him to the wild or let him continue doing the shows until he messes up again. And if that happens, then they shouldn't have any other option but to euthanize him. I thought Sea World exec's said that they were going to try to treat him like the rest of the other whales and be more hands-on. I guess they lied to save their own skins, huh?

  • Its very hard to form an opinion about something like this, for me anyway. Yes, I agree that animals should not be kept in captivity, especially animals of this sheer size. But the Sea World in Florida's manatee habitat rescues manitees. Sea World does use its resources to teach people about the importance of conservation, which is a good thing. ALSO anyone that works that closely with a wild animal knows the risks of injury or death. It happens. Often.

  • i love tilly but if u think he should be in the wild SO BE IT you cant tell his feelings if he i lonely or not..... im only TEN but Alot of people are beginnig a war betwwen captivity and the wild. What do u think?

  • This so cruel it should allowed tonot gone on!!!

  • Whilst visiting Dolphin Adventure in Puerto Vallarta, animal communicator Suzy Ward received the following message from one of the dolphins she swam with:

"We have been waiting for you. Matthew told us you were coming." Then whilst talking to him & telling him how she so wished that he was free in the ocean, he said that they don't feel like prisoners & are happy where there are; they're treated well & the excitement of the people in the pool is very good energy for them.

    matthewbooks . com

  • Tilikum definitely deserves a visit from an animal communicator, so that he can convey to his carers, trainers & all interested in his wellbeing, precisely what is on his mind. Who knows, he may be 'dying' to convey his apologies & explain his side of the story / accident, & if so, shouldn't be denied such. Then, if he chooses to be set FREE in the ocean ~ SO BE IT!

Love, LIGHT & healing energies dearest Tilikum.

    ~South Africa~

  • Wild Animals should stay wild

  • animals do not belong in captivty

  • they need the Animal Whisperer lady to communicate with him to make him understand whats going on

  • Legal ownership of orcas, and other wild animals, should be a crime.

Is there a CALL TO ACTION, or valid outlet, where people can voice themselves, or organize? And as it stands, Sea World continues to profit, at other creatures' expenses, and this is unethical.

If anything: DO NOT SUPPORT SEA WORLD, and their endeavor to breed wild animals, or hold them captive. Capturing wild creatures, and keeping them in small environments, for human entertainment, and for profit, is wrong.

  • Thank you. This is the most rational opinion I've heard on the matter.

The whale must be horribly depressed; and suggestions to "release him back into the wild!" are unfit, as this would almost certainly result in his death.

Possessing these animals (among others) should be illegal. Sea World is making very selfish, profiteering decisions to breed and raise these animals.

  • LStrode7- Yes you can tell he is very depressed but his fin is curled over because that happens to all whales in captivity which is very sad and terrible it makes me sad every time I see it. We should not use animals like these for entertainment!!! They are meant to be swimming freely and living life in the humongous ocean that is THEIR HOME!! :'( :'( :'(

  • THis is terrible!!! Why wont they touch him?? Just because he accidentally killed someone, doesn't mean that he did it purposefully and that he should be shunned! They should atleast pet him when washing him! That is just cruel and inhumane behavior towards an innocent animal.

  • That's funny how you say he's alone, but yet you see another orca's dorsal fin at 0:57 in the lower left hand corner... get your facts straight before you bash SeaWorld.

  • I'm sure he's not happy with not being able to have trainers touch him, but I'm sure that this won't last forever. He's kept with Taima, obviously the female in the tank with him. Logging like that....staying at the surface is something he always used to do even before this attack. I'm sure he knows he did something wrong. He did that when I've seen him, he can be very lazy and just laid back. Touching video though.

  • Tilikum needs to move in North Atlantic where Keiko lived.

  • The really sad part about this whole incident was Tilikum was just playing. When he plays, he's going to play like a 12k lb animal! Tilikum is known for being possessive of his things, and he wouldn't let them take Dawn away from him. They had to pry his mouth open and threw nets all over him. Just because he was playing! Dawn got careless and she lost her life, but I believe Tilikum lost a lot more.

  • He has Taima with him most of the time, but I get where you're coming from. Splashing at the end of the show and collecting semen from him are all he's really good for. Sea World won't give him up. Where else would they get calves? That's why they wouldn't put him down. He's nothing but money to them. Sorry, but I don't think a hose or broom is an extension of their arm. "Oh, we still love you, but we're going to distance ourselves from you." You wouldn't do that to a child!

  • so why doesn't she get in there with him and help him get less depressed?

  • AWW! the thing is if you let him out he would die because he wouldnt know how to survive. this is sooo sad, they should let him interract with other whales.

  • :'(

  • Why is he dangerous. Was he the cause of the the trainers death?

  • It's a shame that they can't release him back into the wild. But, that may not be practical since he's been in captivity for so long. Such a sad situation.

  • This is absolutely sickening. Boycott SeaWorld until they do something to rectify this situation!!

  • that is why i won't ever go to another whale/dolphine show like this one ever again. if people stopped going to these type of places, they won't have to live in captivity reduced to entertaining people. it is all about supply and demand. they make alot of money from theme parks like this one and so these poor intelligent creatures have to continue living in a cramp space. imagine going from ocean to a large swimming pool. it's like us having to live in a bathroom space.

  • what is HSUS or AHS doing about this ?

  • Poor thing, I've never seen an animal look so miserable. Isn't there anything HSUS can do for him?

  • Free Tilikum so He can be as free as Keiko.I have formed a group called "Free Tilikum"on Faceboook please join and try to make a difference to this poor whale.

  • SHUT DOWN THE pLACE!! AND FREE THE WHALE!!!!!!!!

  • So they seaprate him from the other animals? He could seek comfort from the dolphins, other whales, anything. Let him out! He's a whale, and was doing what was natural to him.

  • how can we help? this is so sad and wrong they should do somthing about it and fast

  • I feel bad for him. :( Ok maybe he made a mistake but they can't keep treating him like this. Its not fair. How would they like it if they made a mistake and they kep them like this? They need to think bout the animals than themsleves!

  • Tillikum is going to die of lonliness in there

  • That is so sad..hes obviously depressed as you can see by the way his fin has curled over.He needs to be taught how to live on his own so he can be released to the wild if hes so dangerous.Or he needs to be in some type of sanctuary. Its not fair the way hes being treated,He a wild animal what do they expect from him!

  • @LStrode7 Wild killer whales are active, constantly in motion, highly social and spend most of their time underwater. In captivity, the whales spend 80% of their time at the surface, and most of it is spent just bobbing up and down or swimming in circles. Whales of totally different dialects and areas are bred via artificial insemiation, which wouldnt ever happen in the wild. They are then sold as commodities- breaking up their family groups.

  • Very sad!

    Thanks for sharing

  • How awful! I cant belive how bad they are treating him.

  • @sandyambersalem you do know he killed 3 trainers, right?

  • Places like this shouldnt even exist. They should be Shut Down.

Poor T, he will likely die of a broken heart, being so depressed.

Those ppl should be ashamed of themselves !

Let him back into the wild so he can join a pod !

  • @AnimalHolocaust omg! u people r so hardheaded if he goes back to the ocean he will die

  • @AnimalHolocaust Call Sigmund Freud. For crying out loud thats ridiculous. Give him some Prozac and while your at it get yourself checked out.

  • this is just heartbreaking ):

  • This is very sad, it is not right for us to do this to another living creature. Animals are not meant to be kept in captivity anymore than humans are, it drives them...crazy.

  • thats sooo sad.

  • i'm sure tilikum is very depressed, and this is so sad. its not fair to make him suffer a lonely life

  • Great. Take a magnificent animal that is meant to be free and happy with others of its own kind, hold it in captivity and make it do idiotic circus tricks. Then isolate the poor animal when it simply acts in accordance with its instincts and one of the assholes who forces the animal to do the tricks dies. I visited Sea World when I was a small child. Even before I could understand the situation I knew the whole thing was wrong.

  • I hope that he can follow keiko from free willy's trail... this sucks for him...

  • this makes me cry :'( poor tillikum! these people MUST release him to the wild again! HSUS PLEASE HELP HIM GET HOME!!!

  • but it is always a possibility. he is a wild animal. and now because of something he did that is only to be expected from wild animals, he is being punished. if he is a threat to humans, release him! he is making seaworld no money and he is hurting their reputation. he should at least be moved to a sanctuary. they are social, intelligent creatures, and don't deserve to suffer at the hands of humans.

  • This is so heart breaking. Yes, it is sad that this trainer died. But it is our fault, humans fault, seaworld's fault. Whales are meant to live in the wild. They are not meant to form bonds with humans and to live in small tanks. its just not natural and it's cruel. and when a whale that was captured causes harm to a human, we act like it wasn't expected.

  • This is so sad. Why don't they try to re-introduce him to the wild or come up with a way where he can get along fine without human interaction. I feel so bad for him. They need to do something about it. I used to love seaworld but now I see it in a different light.

  • Soooooo Sad!

  • Pore thing. Tilikum doesn't deserve this, he should be with other orcas.

  • this is animal cruelty!!!!

  • they need to release them. all of them.

  • Thats sad, I heard that on the news there was 3 people dead because of this whale...is that true?

What makes these trainers think if one killer whale is dangerous its because the whale is a murderer? lol

They all should just leave the whales alone and let them their lives the way nature intended them too!

  • this is slavery, plan and simple... Greenpeace, The Humane Society of the United States, and Sea Shepherd need to do more in prevent more whales, and dolphins from being put into this slavery and to do more in getting the ones already in, out to put into preserves... I understand this will shut Sea World down, but shutting down Sea World would also help shut down the saluter of dolphins in Japan which is funded by a non profit arm of Sea World... :-(

  • This is a perfect example of why we don't need to be keeping these animals in captivity.

  • aww.. i don't understand why they can't just set him free?

  • This is terribly sad!

  • Um, may I ask how you know everything about marine parks Naomi? When did you work at SeaWorld? How long? What position? -Thanks!

Oh, and how can Tilikum be the loneliest whale in the world when there are other cetaceans out in marine parks that live without any companions? Like, Nami.

  • Poor Tilikum. :(

  • Aww... =( I'm sure he didn't mean to kill his trainer, and animals don't know why they're being punished, so he must be very sad and lonely.

  • this is just sad...Its like solitary confinement..

  • this is so sad they should at least try to interact with him again

  • this is so sad, this made me wan't to cry. they should at least try to interact with him again

  • so sad and heartbreaking, wild animals are not meant to be in captivity!

  • poor whale, they should let him free :(

  • Sad.

  • Oh wow

  • :[ ide keep em company

  • free tilikum
