And Malicious Raindog, if you haven't already, get an external hard drive. That's what I did to try and avoid losing all my music. Before that I burned a copy of every damn cd I have...and I don't want to talk about how much time that took, lotta stuff. So with that and the hard drive, which I store in a fireproof safe, I should be alright. Good luck getting all your great music back someday.

Strange how a great song affects so many people in the same way. I've been reading thru the comments while thinking of all the things in my past this song reminds me of...an ex I'll admit. No, she wasn't named Martha, doesn't have to be...she's my Martha I suppose and this song we used to listen to. Makes me cry like a fuckin' girl everytime I hear this. I love it though...and Tom Waits is the man!! He thought it mattered then, and he doesn't have to worry, he's not just a man, THE MAN!!

This man's career is nothing less than epic. His development since Closing Time is monumental. I've never heard anybody sing tom's songs better than he does. If you can hear Midnight Lullaby from a live version, it's development from the album is so extraordinary...turning a fine song into something classic out of Hoagy Carmichael.

Ah, one of my favorites! I had this on compact disc, my last computer crashed and I lost the album, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Simon & Garfunkel, Jefferson Airplane, and of course the rest of my Tom Waits collection.
