Our intention with this piece was not to parody but rather use Burger's text as a jumping off point. From the original video I (the playwright) transcribed the dialogue, word for word, scream for scream into a half page script. That script was then handed off to my colleague Jason Ballweber(the director), who used it to audition the players. After three rounds of callbacks, we finally found our Burger, Sir Brant Miller.

However, it was during the week long rehearsal process that all the tremendous discoveries were made and the piece became its own. We looked at the original script not as a blueprint to imitate, but rather a foundation to build upon. Through a series of improvisations, Mr. Miller began to craft his character. Who was this burger? Was he a cat who thought he was human? Was he a human that thought he was a cat? We attempted hundreds of iterations before we settled upon what you just witnessed.

So yes, while Brant Miller's Burger is a different Burger from the original Burger, rest assured each pause was deliberate, the sadness was a choice, all that was random and chaotic was constructed deliberately and with the utmost care, and the lack of affront was meant to suggest the characters resignation to his couch prison. Personally, I feel Brant Miller's Burger is a welcome addition to artistic zeitgeist of the Youtube community.
