I just bought a used Champion Juicer off Ebay. This was such a helpful video. I couldn't figure out how to put the screen on. I also understand the negatives of the juicer so I can try and work around them.
After seeing the other videos. It's pretty obvious that you have some sort of negative bias towards Champion juicers. You're like pissed off "It comes with this, It comes with this" Yet you had nothing but praise for the cheap plastic Breville you loved so much! inherited my grandfathers Champion working strong for 40 years not one broken part. You keep on saying it's clogged, yet you keep putting veggies in, I guess they are absorbed by the universe.
First of all, I do not sell this juicer. I have had my juicer now for about 10 years. It's the best I've ever had. This video is a joke!! It's so obvious that you are trying to make it look hard.
what juicer has a good screen system..I have issues with having pulp go through on my juicer and then having to rinse when it gets clogged. I have a Jack Lalanne and hate it..I'm thinking the Breville Fountain Elite, but not quite sure.
@anurre5 The Jack Lalane is pretty bad in my opinion. Crappy motor. Crappy quality of parts compared to the Breville machines. The screens on all the Brevilles are vastly superior. Certain produce will clog those screens too. Pineapple clogs everything I've seen so far. Just happens. The Breville Elite is a really nice machine. I have the Breville 95xl which is one below the Elite and it is such a better machine than the Jack on so many levels. EZ to clean. Powerful. Nicely made.
@dieselmac The Omega 8004 is an updated version of the Omega 8003. Stronger motor and more robust auger. I don't care for the handle as much but that's just my take. Most people won't care. Handle on the 8004 is easier to clean. The folding handle on the 8003 has grooves that are hard to clean.
I've seen the Juice Fountain by Breville and they should be embarrassed at the noise level of their juicer. Granted it apparently operates much faster. Im torn between them. I certainly want the most extracted from the content but I also don't want one that is painfully loud. The Champion also seem a bit smaller. They do seem to need to reengineer their pulp extraction though. it shouldn't clog quite like that.
@williaminmd Centrifugal juicers sound like jet planes. I have 3. I have to do a video to show that sound level. It's pretty funny. But lots of people love them. I like the Breville. I can't believe how many people love Jack Lalanne juicers. I don't get it. I have to redo my Champion videos to better show what I mean about the clogging. And compare it to a single auger or twin gear juicer just to show why I think it is odd they clog. I still think the Champion is good machine though.
Just wanted to say i have had 4 juicers in the past 10 years. The problems you encountet with the champion do occur on ocasion. However once you learn the correct order of the produce it works wonderful. It is also a breeze to clean. It is kind of middle ground between the speed of the juice fountain and the yield of the omegas. I use my champion every day for one main reason, for some reason the juice tastes much better. Anyone else experience this taste difference?
Can you give an example of proper produce order you use? I would really like to try it. Also, can you give an example of say a juice you make in the Juice Fountain and then in the Champion. I'm into experimenting with juicers and always open to things. Thanks.
i have the champion and it's a good juicer (made by a company right by me in sacto, ca). i've dealt with their customer service and they were very nice to deal with and helpful. but i got a breville juice fountain elite, which addresses a couple minor issues i had with the champion (i had issues with celery too and also didn't like how juice was dispensed). but it's a good juicer and a good company
I'm in the process of remaking my Champion juicer reviews because I've caught a lot of flak. My fault for not being clear enough, overacting and appearing bias. So I'm going to be clear in my next attempts and compare the Champion with other juicers on video.
I just read the manaul online and it says you should cut the celery into 3-4 inch pieces for juicing. I notice you put in the celery whole so perhaps thats why you have the problem with the fibres getting wrapped around the cutter blades. Too long I reckon, thus making it hard to be discarded without the tanglig occuring. If the problem still persists I guess one could cut into even smaller pieces so the fibres are very short.
Excellent point. I'm going to cut the celery up and try it. I guess I just figured that for such a fast spinning blade the machine should have ground the celery up in a flash. However, each juicer demands some type of prep and this may be what's right for the Champion.
The Champion is actually great and quiet juicer. I don't care which juicer people buy, but I saw a bit of "performance" (acted) bias in this video. For ex: connecting the filter / extractor portion is so easy a 1st grader could do it . Its not at all the "hassle" the actor claims it is. In part 2, there are issues created that I simply have never experienced with this juicer. It seems less that honest to me. Maybe not "the best" juicer. But a darn good one.
I might have "hammed" it up too much for this video. Sorry for that. But I did find the thing frustrating. I wanted it to be awesome but I just didn't think it was when compared to other juicers. I'm in the process of redoing this video to be less "acted" and more clear in my issues with the machine. I'd still buy the machine but probably not buy new because there are other machines I feel are better in that $200 range.
I've had The Champion Juicer for 25 years.. still works great ! I once checked to see if the screen was in while the machine was running and ground off the tip of a finger, which does prove how quiet it is ! I was considering a Jack Lalane Juicer now, but have seen some real horrid reviews on it!
I know they are cheap and I'm sure some people love them. And on top of that Jack Lalanne rules as a person. However, please look at L'equip, Breville, Omega first. I have a Jack Lalanne that I'm going to review soon. As soon as I took it out of the box I knew it wasn't good. I have a Breville JE95 that for just a few bucks more is awesome. This machine will last for many years and is very well made. You'll be bummed if you cut corners & your Jack juicer dies in 3 months. Just a thought.
you fail to mention that the champion will take frozen bananas and turn them into the greatest frozen treat ever. you can add chocolate, strawberry, and pineapple and SWEAR you are eating a real banana split. I have worked a champion hard and never jammed the feed tube. are you selling omegas or what?? Plus, the "fast spinning blade tip" you warn about is just the plastic ejector end. you can't stick your finger in far enough to hit "blade"
Your right. I didn't discuss the food processing part of this juicer. I decided to focus on more the juicing process because from my research more people were interested in that aspect. The "spinning blade" is more a concern for children who seem to want to stick their tiny fingers in everything. I didn't feel this machine was kid safe.
This is such a crap review. I've owned a Champion and an Omega...and I assure you this review is just biased against the Champion. Anybody can see the reviewer is working the machine like an Italian soccer player falls to draw a penalty kick. I have never once in two years had a "tube clog" while juicing, but thats because I know how to use it. That's like saying a Ferrari sucks because I pushed down on the gas pedal and it slammed into a wall...learn to drive, dude. Really bad review.
Why is this a crap review if this was my experience with the machine? I assure you I don't care if the Champion is better or worse than the Omega. I'm just interested in the best juicer for the buck. I didn't push produce in faster than I thought the machine could handle. Look at the video. That thing should shred a carrot up good but it plugs up. That's all I'm showing. Maybe I have a bad one but I don't see how. The blade is sharp and it spins fast. Anyone with a similar experience?
i didnt think it was a bad review or biased, but you did perhaps make things seem a bit harder than i found them to be with the champion (like putting the screen on; you don't really need to put the assembly on first upside down to do it)
This is a bit late but.... The Champion is not good for wheat grass or leafy vegetables. However, I'd buy one for $20 for sure. Parts are easy to get and you can always sell it on Ebay for triple that price. However, if you really want a good machine, spend the $230 and get the Omega 8003 juicer or the 8005. For the price I don't think you'll find a better machine that can do at least a good job on every type of produce.
Wow! I'd always heard that Champion was THE best. And I was considering getting one (which is why I stopped by). There's both a Champion and a Breville available on Craigslist in my area (also Jack Lalaine) and I wondered about how they'd work. After seeing this -- I don't think I want to Champion!
Thanks for showing this. I'll keep looking around, but this does make me stop for a second and rethink the Chamion . . .
saltandsavor...by now you probably have bought a juicer...but I can share with you that I have a Champion, and it can clog if you are not alternating your hard/tough vegs with apple slices now and then...there is an order to putting in your vegs...and also, I have a Jack Lalanne (that I gave to my mother for Christmas last year-she gave it back to me after she got an Omega 8006). It is just gross to clean out, the first time I lifted the lid I thought, ugh!! Next juicer is an Omega Vert...
How odd! This is the first time I've visited You Tube in a while, and here's your note to me! Thanks for thinking of me. I got a Jack Lalanne for dirt cheap ($15), from someone upgrading, just to try. You're right; gross to clean. Needing both nutrition and fiber, I opted for a Vita-Mix. It uses the whole fruit/veg and, being budget conscious, requires less of it to fill a glass. I use nut milk bags if I want just the thinner liquid. I'm a happy camper.
Thanks so much for a GREAT video! Just started juicing again after quitting 12+ years ago with a horrible old juicer. Got the Breville BJE200XL 700-Watt Compact Juice Fountain for $100.00 new at Amazon and just can't believe how efficient these new models are! Easy to clean AND operate but have not yet tried anything leafy or NOT dense so looking for reviews on this "type" of juicer in case it turns out I need a 2nd type I stumbled upon this review. New juicers taste so much BETTER than before.
I just bought the Champion 2000 juicer and it works great! The pulp comes out great and the juice is wonderful! Maybe the juicer you got is messed up or something because mine works wonderfully unlike the one in this video.
I wondered if it was messed up at first too. But the machine is pretty simple and even if say the motor was running in the opposite direction, which would be weird and not say much for quality control, it should still work. The blades were super sharp too. This juicer should make mincemeat out of parsley but didn't really. I didn't even show how I tried to grind ice up to make a snowcone. That totally didn't work at all. The ice froze to the blank screen and stayed there.
I just bought a used Champion Juicer off Ebay. This was such a helpful video. I couldn't figure out how to put the screen on. I also understand the negatives of the juicer so I can try and work around them.
