Interesting session. Was the little doe maiden? Notice he hit the her first and then seemed to have difficulty consummating the act with the larger one. Any comments or insight?
Yep, both were first fresheners. The breed target for Mini-Oberhaslis is 50% Nigerian Dwarf, 50% Oberhasli, with Ober coloring, and the buck and smaller doe were about that. The bigger one was 75% Oberhasli, and a little tall for him - but it worked!
These girls were about 18 months old at the time. The babies that resulted (3 does, 1 boy) still seemed a little small to breed this year; hard to tell how big they'll get when you're establishing a new cross between full-size and dwarf goats
The buck and the two red does are Mini-Oberhaslis, a mix of Nigerian Dwarf and Oberhasli (Swiss dairy) goat. The breeding resulted in three girls and a boy =)
