Im from canada and we brought in gun control laws in 2001 and it didnt do anything in fact in 1997 we had 33 firearm deaths a year this year we had 32 whew big difference there for the cost of 2 billion dollers. However licensing individuals did bring our crime rate down in 1990. All licensing is is taking a 2 day firearms safty couse and then after you pass the test at the end you send in the paper work and the government sends you your firarms license. but don't let obama do gun registration

The more important question is what are the effects of gun control in countries that instituted them in the late 20th century towards the present? I'm thinking a much lower murder rate than in countries without them. The world will never have a massacre kept secret due to the overwhelming amount of inter-connectivity. Even recently in Burma where the government controls the internet and most communication networks, the word got out immediately when the government started murdering and abusing its citizens.
I am not pro-gun control at ALL, but you really do have to use some common sense on this topic.

I might add that Canada has wasted 2 billion trying to register long guns and still hasn't got it right. Most gun control measures are money pits which often funnel the money into the people that proposes them.

On that basis I agree, so then why are illicit drugs illegal in the United States? Gun laws are in place simply because of conservative white people who hunt with them and start the occasional pseudo-military force. Granted its a large minority of our nation that are "rednecks". If guns remain legal then so should medical cannabis. Or same sex marriage for that matter? Gun owners are seemingly very hypocritical in their "fight for rights".

Obama was born in Hawaii, and he HAS shown his real birth certificate. Even though naval bases are American territory, the Constitution calls for you to be "a natural-born citizen of the United States".
