Listen to the vid, it's a training session. The holder stands loose 50/50 to lessen the concussion to the body allowing the energy to propel him backwards. During these sessions they both take dozens of hits so you need to dissipate the energy or you'll feel the hurt or throw up. They're working on timing and proper alignment among other nuances. The 50/50 stance allows a neutral constant so the guy holding gives accurate feedback on the energy output he feels. Obviously he liked the last one.
Yeah or you could punch with correct form and knock someone out cold. But sure, push someone with your fist and have them run backwards for a demo. That's cool. That's fine.
While I am not sure if anyone has ever been hurt during a demonstration of this punch I do know that in the past when Sibok Ambrose was hit by Sijo Demile during a demo he threw up. While this technique has great power it also carries the ability of great control, You do not need to hit with full strength to demonstrate the abilities of the punch therefore allowing for demonstrations with no injuries. I have personally felt Sijo hit with just a tap and felt the sinking 1" punch. Hope that helps
he is bending his rear leg and twisting his hips. this is more of an abbreviated uppercut than a one inch punch.
watch bruce's one inch punch and you will see his power originates from the simultaneous extension (not contraction) of his ankles, knees, hips, shoulders, elbow, and wrist through the target. this principle applies at any distance, including zero inches.
It cracks me up all the comments you can read on youtube from people who have no idea what they are talking about. This man is the inheritor of the WCD system, do you really think James Demile would pass only part of the system to Rocco? This man's floating punch is the closest you will feel to James Demile, guaranteed!
I trained under this man for many years. For most of those years I was in an instructor program with him. Believe me, this punch is not only very real and effective, but he is doing very well. He is the inheritor to the WCD system and James Demile spends a lot of time with him.. Not a believer yet? Schedule some personal time with a head instructor in WCD and you'll believe!
there are different ways and techniques within kung fu of executing the one inch punch, stances are different, extention of arm is different, posture is different and some pepz use the last two knuckles insted of the 1st n the middle. I use the last two knuckles and have been conditioning them for years and i believe they help provide more inch and gen power!
Actually, I have heard of a few guys being hurt practicing or demonstrating this type of punch; mostly as a result of insufficient protection, or bad technique (which can hurt the wrist). I've heard of guys being hit and dropping straight to the ground, and even vomiting - t's pretty bad. If that's not enough, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to find someone to show you how much it can hurt.
The demos do the "Push" version of the technique, rather than stopping the energy inside the target. Also, many people do not hone the technique to lethal levels... only average at best. (like a dull knife)
Also WCD punch isnt supposed to blow you across a room into a wall, it scrambles your guts up with a shock wave instead. If you got hit with that without the phone books you'd be losing your lunch at least, more likely have internal injuries
The guy is running backward because in WCD they train you to not let yourself get knocked on your ass! If I knew a 1 inch punch was coming I would run backwards too!
you know you have two bones in your hand. The power from the two middle knockles are gonna go through your hand(wich is straight and the bones are parallell), through your body and down to the ground.
Or really, it comes from the ground and goes up that way and through the knokles ;)
So not your pinky finger knockle, the bones at the pinky knocle are very weak.
No, this is fake, dont get me wrong, Wing Chun punches are strong, but this is NOT a one-inch punch. One-inch punches make you FLY back, not walk backwards. Its not even the right way to do it.
wow, this guy can't let his magic technique get out or all the mma, boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, pradal serey, lethwei, sambo, bjj, judo, wrestling etc... would be out of a job. If it was really that effective, everyone would do it.
that is ridiculous. If everyone knew the simplest way to do everything then there would be no room for improvement. This punch and Wing Chun Do are a perfect example of how truly breaking something down and analyzing it can lead to MAJOR improvements.
Actually, this isn't intended to be a "magic technique". It is a very powerful technique, and ALL of its components are practical in almost any fighting situation. However, the "one-inch-punch" itself would hardly be used in a real fight. Its real value is in its demonstration of the body's ability to tap into, focus, and transfer all of one's many sources of power through the fist. This is more of a tool for learning about one's self, rather than making the other guy fly across the room.
I know for a fact that the punch is real. Its been demonstrated on me with a bunch of friends bracing me. James DeMile and his Wing Chun Do is the answer to that.
almost looks fake, i know one inch punch gets power from the whole body moving as a unit into the strike but it looks like the guy getting hit is walking back to make it look more powerful than it realy is. dont know just what i think.
This video has 507 views but no one has shared their oppinion on it. I think it is a great punch but I am really curious about what other people see in it. Somebody please share some ideas.
I just met an assistant teacher of Jeet Kune Do today and he demonstrated the one inch punch on me three or four times.
He has only been studying the art for 3.5 years and is smaller than me, yet every time he struck my 5' 11", 155 lb. body I was forced to take 2 steps back. It feels as though you are being punched, yet doesn't hurt much and knocks your breath out only slightly.
I know that these things take years, even decades to perfect however and you can guess where this is going.
I had a JKD guy 1"strike me, my chest burned on fire for 4hrs long. I almost went to the hospital. Ive took full power TKD kicks that lifted me off the ground, which were Nothing compared to the short range strike. Also, remember, he hit your chest.. if he hit your forehead, you would have probably been K.O.
It shoudnt take a decade to perfect. He just was not training correctly / seriously. Or, he was not trying to hurt you, and lessened the forces on purpose.

I have heard so much talk about how this is an internal punch designed to damage organs. If so why has no one suffered any injury from demos? Thanks

the thing the guy is holding is a pad to take most of the impact... think before you ask stuff

Because generally, the videos you see have someone holding up something in front of them. For example, in this video, the instructor holds up a pad.
