It's nice to see Morrissey letting down his guard. But must it be with such an amateur as this Brand character? Simply, and most importantly. from a professional point of view, when has an interview with a friend been compelling viewing? We don' t ask for more. We deserve more. Challange us.
the last 2 min of this interview are fucking gold. quite possibly my favorite interview ever because it felt nothing like an interview. gotta hand it to russel, not easy to bring out that side of Moz
As Russell seemed to enjoy pointing out to Morrissey throughout: there were clearly no major revelations being made or any completely in-depth comments on the album... but still this has to be one of my favourite Morrissey interviews!
I love them both anyway, and watching them play each other off is hilarious to see. And to keep Morrissey laughing really is something!
just because you can remember some big words and repeat everything and agree with everything someone says......does not make you intelligent russell.........morrissey is a genius! no question....i think he puts up with your shit because your beautiful.
@fromtheisland I think you're not being quite fair to Russell Brand. After all he is talking to his child hero, so certain level of servility can be excused. And also in general, he is an entertainer, his job is to make people feel good, of course that also entails a certain level of superficiality. But I do consider him to be a genius in the respective field, he's amazingly quick witted, articulate and can sometimes, in his seemingly pointless meanderings, be suprisingly poetic.
Well I think everyones aware Morrissey gets on with Russell, saying before they met Russell was one of the few he'd find funny, and the fact Moz is quick to tell him to move on to a different question if he doesnt like it that he's just having everyday conversation, probably enjoying it more because most interviews he's on are so mundane
Even though he would never, I would of loved Morrissey to be on Russells radio show often like Noel Gallagher was
Thats breathtaking - literally, i was laughing so much i couldn't breathe. I've never known Morrissey to laugh in an interview before. Morrissey's and Russell's wit made this such an enjoyable interview, unlike all the hundreds of tedious ones, where interviewers ask the same questions over and over. I almost love Morrissey and Russell in equal measure.
@ScumFreezebag Wow, a year ago. Well, I can say this: this was the best Morrissey interview I've ever seen, and maybe one of the best interviews I've ever witnessed. It's exactly how I would have interviewed him. I would have gone nuts at certain points, and thanks to my very diverse liberal education, I could have followed Morrissey through all of his twist and turns because I was writing lyrics about a stone gray slab of a sky in Aurora, IL. before he was about Manchester.
Great - Russell IS a good comedian and interviewer. He got Morrissey to laugh and open up, how much of it was real? You'll never know with Mozza, but I do think he was genuine in this and Russell's not a bad guy. You can only slate a celebrity when you've met them, I've met some that have been horrible, some that are great.
im pretty sure its genuwine laughter. ive never seen moz laugh like that in any interview ive seen him. most are always licking his behind. russell is genuwinely witty and has a reply for everything.
@HanseMod Bollocks, I'm here watching Brand deal with the most difficult cunt on the planet. His music is shite and he's not half as special as he likes to think he is.
Russell Brand has been famous in the UK for years as he is a truly excellent stand-up comedian and presenter. He is also an actor who has been in many films like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Bedtime stories. And in 2010 a film comes out in the US in which he is the leading role. He has tens of thousands of fans and has worked so hard to get to top. If you haven't heard of him now in the US, you will have soon.
I discovered that russell brand is more interesting than morrissey.

Hardly 'holding the torch in the corner of your room' now is he? Lolling around in LA with the worst kind of celebrity showbiz chums.

I wish when Morrissey was asking Russel to sing a song Russel had just turned around and said 'You just haven't earned it yet, Baby'.

I love how Russell doesn't bullshit Morrissey just to pamper him.
"What's the best piece of work you think you've done?"
"I haven't a clue."
Russell: *rolls eyes* He never answers a serious question.
"But that was an interesting answer.
Russell: o_O ..well it Might be but.. trying to get a straight answer out of you.. it's like PULLING TEETH.
So awesome. =-D

morrissey's ego is quite daunting in this interview. It's a little hard to take in.yet this man is a genius just the same as the rest of The Smiths.
