The auto-aiming is what makes this and 007 Goldeneye super fun (well, opne thing anyway 8P). It's so freakishly smooth. Nowadays we have to maneuver an often not-optimized-for-shooters cross hair...it's just so much more fun THIS way. It's not how fast you aim, it's how fast you think.

black? you mean the hair color? in the n64 version the hair wasn't really red, it was more dark brown.

in Perfect dark zero joanna had really red hair (looked very colored btw)

in a direct comparison from n64 and an old TV and XBLA on HDtv then everybody would see what they have done. even when you play on an n64 emulator, the textures of the characters are bad vs XBLA version.

looks like everybody complaining here doesn't want to buy an XBOX360 or didn't play the game.

Ahh got this when it appeared for xbox, I would vote this one over any Halo, Half-Life, Bioshock, CoD any day because it still has features Activision or Bungie has never even dreamed about, damn lazy bastards.

1. In perfect dark enemies DO react when you shoot them

2. They will get friends for help

3. guns are alot more interesting and isnt nailed in the screen like in other fps games.

4. you can freely target without moving whole character !

just download a PD rom, and get mupen 64. project 64 is recommended, but you don't have to install mupen 64. get the Emulator at Goldeneyeonline

@mirikam8 i grew up with the orignal and goldeneye as well and this game was so cool when it came out i got it for christmas and didnt relise you needed the expansion pack to play the storey! i searched everywere for it! at that stage the 64 was no longer in the shops and it was neerly impossible to get anything for the consol!

but your right there is something about the orignal's which are queit special!

My only complaint is that they should have updated the animations along with the models. I would have preferred movable hands and at animated mouths in comparison to the "oven mitts" and static faces. Other than that I'm just happy to see it on XBLA.

Does anyone know if you can speedstrafe on this like you could with the N64 C-buttons while running in the opposite direction? Also, on the N64 you couldn't win all 4 Combat Simulator awards without at least 1 other human player; did they fix that so you can do it alone versus simulants?

I think I still like the N64 controller, even though the hard plastic control stick destroys thumbs worldwide. It just feels right using the Z-trigger and C-buttons.

(and I think you cant do it in combatsimulator any more)

and they fixed the character creation a little bit, so you are not able to make human with alien heads ore vice versa. but anyway the game is more than worth the money!

My character since the year 2000 whenit was released just today reached the time played requirement, but my distance is only 3,000km, and I've figured out that the controller trick as Mr. Blonde with fast movement registers only 200km per 6 hours, and you need 9,000!? 10 years later I am still just Near Perfect because of those damn kilometers.

with the trick on n64 its easy, but on xbox there is no trick or you have to fix your joystick with tape. im rank 12 now and thats the time to start farming stars and so on. on n64 i have a playtime of 23+ Days (500 hours) just because of the walking distance...

I'm Elite 4, I think there are some missions I haven't completed, and I know there are some cheats I don't have, and prolly 1 or 2 challenges not completed. I've been playing at least 10 years, worn out 3 controllers, I still have it hooked up right now.

Having actually played and beaten the game-

1- AWESOME. ALL GUNS CHEAT IS UNLOCKED FROM THE BEGINNING! Getting that cheat always screwed me so hard....

2- GUNS LOOK , SORT OF LIKE HOW THEY DO IN PDZ. If there is any tiny thing I like about PDZ, it's how the weapons looked. Not how they acted- how they looked.

Neo Perfect Dark (XBLA) pwns, but you have to give props to Retro Perfect Dark for going so far for it's day.

It does something even the so-called "almighty" Halo series has yet to pull off- simulants. Smart ones too.

I played the arcade version all the way through. Rare did a great job making the original game even better. Even without the top of the line graphics, etc, this is one of my favorite games!! I was a little confused though with multiplayer. Weren't you able to switch female/males heads with male/female bodys in N64, becuase on the arcade version you can't. - I guess gender discrimination isn't allowed anymore, lol.

yeah the new looks better a lot but in the Combat simulator you can't put 8 simulants anymore. is the only bad thing of the new game and in somethings the High definition doesn't work. BUT in Generals Lines the two games are goods and the more innovator is the old because was very advanced to his age.
