I'd much rather check out bands signed to Seasons Of Mist or Profound Lore than Century Media or Nuclear Blast, which run on standard profit and efficiency based business models

It's when people spend more time arguing every little nuance of a groups style than it takes to listen to the whole CD that it's clearly gotten out of hand. Saying, "This song is melodic black metal so I would like other groups of this style" is one thing, raging for twenty pages because "this one riff showcases thrash stylings in this 2-second clip" and bitching when someone disagrees is another.
