I live near 67th and Lee, this lousy thing spun and spun overhead as it moved from your area, but it ran away to the wildlife refuge where it finally touched down I believe moving north before petering out.
Ohh the first time i saw a tornado was last year. But that was in Italy since i had to live there for 3 years cause my stepdad is in the military. Me and my friends were hanging at the skatepark when we saw a funnel cloud forming man it was scary
Storms this year is a little abnormal. Usually there is more storms but for some reason, not many this year. However, just the other night, high winds (might as well been a tornado) swept through marlow (about 35 mins outside of Lawton) and damaged our expensive barn etc. Might have to total it and rebuilt. (not even a year old yet!). But when it does storm, it is a very dramatic light show for sure.
@Shabaka87 Um, well a lot actually especially since TEXAS and Oklahoma have the most tornadoes in the World so you are close by texas and live in Oklahoma. If your not from the Tornado Alley get ready for some ridiculous storms. I'm use to it cuz Ive lived hear 22 years so I always go outside to watch lol.
@BounceRH2 Yeah. Although I've never wittnessed one, I know tornadoes are very scary and do a lot of damage, and when there's a bad storm, I either go outside with my mom and watch it, or if I can't go outside cause my mom won't let me, I'll go over to my window and watch it there. XD
@Shabaka87 I've been here since December 2009 and I've NEVER seen a tornado, or even a storm that scared me. Of course I do have a high threshold for scared by storms, but still. This place is pretty weak when it comes to tornadoes or even decent storms. Damn mountains!!
I moved to Lawton in the early 90's, from Kalifornia. I lived out in the sticks , just before Punkin' center and 'Sterling'. Marcy Brown was the Finest Girl around.
I remember this tonado alomost touchgin down. I belive a tornado actually touched down after that either in elgin , i may be wrong. that lawton for some reason we never reall y get the tornado just the winds of it
bullsht im movin frm Miami 2 there wtfff frm hurricanes to tornadoes oh can some1 plz tell me which lawton oklahoma middle schools have uniform cuz dey dont say on the websites of the schools
@jesrael5 No uniforms.. that I know of.. they do make you tuck shirts in I believe but Ive been out of highschool for 5 years.... Ya Tornadoes are worse than Hurricanes... or atleast they kill more people.. but they both suck.. You'll get use to the bad weather.. it aint nothing.
I lived there for 8 years. Before they closed half of Ft. Sill it was a thriving town. And i worked at Central mall. LOL. It's 30 years old now. And it's Wichita falls.
I basically grew up in Lawton. I was there for the 4/10/79 Red River valley outbreak. I left the town in 82 and I haven't been back since. BUT I truly miss that town and it's people. I will probably go back next summer for a visit.
I was born there and I can't wait to finally go to Lawton!! I love the town and it's people. I'm Comanche and Kiowa. I can"t wait to go see where Geramino is buried. Hold on people. I'm coming this July, baby!!!!!
The days at Cry Baby Bridges and the days before a cerfew we always be a great memory also being able to get a cherry vanila Dr.pepper after an hr wait for it in your car or peaching in for gas. Anywho enjoy the view for me and do good for yourself and the Earth
Joe Henry? Rusty Woodson? Shane Kelly? Tim Kendall? Tripp Cagle? Jason Wells? Brent McCoy? Wonder where you are all these days. Will never forget the good times - drinking beer on the dirt road just past MacArthur Park - it's all developed now. Those were the days.
I miss Lawton and the legendary thunderstorms. I now live in Colorado Springs, and last night our weather forecaster actually said "...crazy weather today...we actually counted as many as three lightning flashes...stay tuned for more on this incredible weather development..." I just miss sitting on the porch during the lightning show with a 12 pack and a few friends.
lol same thing here. i moved to Cheyenne fro OK and the weather they think is dangerous is hilarious. we had a tornado warning right at the end of school and my mom just walks in there and says there's no tornado and grabs us. i get outside and doesn't look like one at all. i guess they're just not use to it
once i waz at school and the tornado was around the whole school and the lights went out and i waz in the bath room and i went out and saw the tornado but it waz cool
what year did this happen because the only tornado i remember is when we had a real torando emergency in elementry school and we all had to sit in the hall way.
that happend to me, my mom said there was a tornado, i went outside and there was a big circle above me spinning real fast, REAL SCARY i was so dizzy, thank heavens is didnt get our house.. like right above me coming down
Just some advice, u should invest in a tri-pod so that ur not holding the camera because you were shaking alot- i dont blame u though because i would be shaking to if a tornado was forming that close to me...lol good video...nice footage
wow, I can never forget that, it was my first year in Lawton. I lived off of Kinyon, and 22nd and supposedly it was what a mile from my house... First tornado I've ever experienced.
It was so crazy outside . I remember standing in my yard and watching clouds form above us and swirling clouds coming down on us!!! (82nd was the one on top of us)
Living in Lawton, weve seen some crazy things happen. Like the F-5 that started near Lawton and basically followed I 44 to OKC and destroyed Moore Oklahoma. Nice video..:)
ok okstatekid i like the name, but this is done by a camera not a video camero so it is very small and also my dog is jumping against my leg.. so dont hate!

Only one starbucks on Cache. The other on Sheriden got shut down. Mall is same old mall according to locals.
