They're more of a hard rock/alternative band. The same could be said about the Smashing Pumpkins. Grunge is probably my favorite rock genre. But, i'm a huge fan of metal also. Metallica is my favorite band. Their first 5 albums were great. And in my opinion Pantera saved metal in the 90's

I have heard Eddie is a chill dude. I worked with a guy at a nightclub on a ski resort and he was in the parking lot somewhere one time smoking the cheeb and eddie came up to him on a bike and smoked with him. The guy I worked was a huge fan of Eddie since. Then a few years later he was front row at a Pearl Jam concert and he got Eddie's attention. Eddie remembered him and he asked Eddie between songs to announce for him for his wife to marry him, to propose. Pretty damn cool.
