  • He's alright. Kinda boring with his guitar and his songs suck. He needs to dive into the melodic side of the guitar and not just rape scales all the time. If you play melodically during solos then you won't repeat meaningless licks over and over. I know alot of kids who are much more sophisticated on their axe than this kid. Here in Texas this is how you play the guitar when you are 17 or 18 years old. He's not a prodigy here in Texas. Thats why he moved to Nashville instead of Austin.

  • not a fan of the lyrics/ song at alll, but some bad ass riffs and he's got some mad chops.

  • Cool guitar playing. Tyler really ortta just "Shut up and play guitar" as Frank said.

His voice and the teenage subject matter really blow it for me. Go instrumental dude, trust me! :) Just ask Jeff beck, you'll come off looking and sounding way cooler! :)

  • @Frinkstobat yeah man. his lyrics are kind of juvenile...but then again he's like how old? i'm saying give him a few years to get some real depth to his voice and maybe a little more experience with the blues and he'll get it at least a little better.

  • just saw this guy play at my university on acoustic. I wasn't sure about him till I saw this video. Great stuff.

  • i think most players try not to use there pinky. if it wasnt there at least for me, it wouldnt affect me much but yet i think you have to learn to use it often if u want to become a great guitar player

  • I'm trying to comprehend why every guitarist popular on youtube avoids using their pinky as much as possible. Besides that he is damn good.

  • well, if it doesn't make the riff easier then why use it .. I dont think they avoid, i think they use it only when they need, but yeah the pinky is also a finger so it should be used more often, but it depends on the song and on the guitar player.. =)

  • @tugaJP112 It's just kind of bad technique but with the skills of this guy I couldn't say "DO IT WITH PINKY" cuz he's better than me... haha

  • hard to bend/use vibrato with the pinky. other than that and the fact that (in my case at least) pinky is just awkward...can't think of any other reason.

  • @samjad1 It's only hard at the beginning and yeah for some players it's awkward for a long time. My guitar teacher gave me a lot of shit for not using it and I can't play without it now.

  • @Zmcluvin yeah my teacher gave me a lot of shit too. made me play pentatonics through the entire lesson with only my pinky. It works for some...not so much for me though. I use it for the occasional reach or chords, but that's really about it.

  • I'm jealous, wish I was 18 again and kickin' ass like TB. He's got some Mojo going on fo-sho'!

  • I don't see why everything has to turn into a competition of who is better but for the record Davy is 4 years older than Tyler.

  • Davy Knowles would blow him out of the water

  • how old is he???

  • Hmm he's good, but i think Davy Knowles is probably better.

they both look the same age, but i think Knowles is miles ahead in terms of maturity and what direction he's taking his music.

but this kid has skill! He just needs to work on a few things.

  • @Airicology idk brother.. i met this guy he knows his shit... hes very mature.. but honestly i like tx music more.. i like this guys voice more aswell. and he is like 3 yrs younger

  • @benrockson

to each their own i guess haha

i've always been a big fan of the whole british blues/rock, so thats probably why Knowles appeals to me more than Bryant.

Either way they're still both brilliant :)

  • he's fucking great.

  • The guy stole everything Hendrix ever did. Not a bad way to go, actually.

  • Saw him before he was really big.. in ardmore oklahoma about a year or 2 ago

  • its too early for him, he needs to get back in his room and woodshed for a few years....see ya then tyler.

  • whatever hes awesome

  • that bassist looks kinda like Andy Timmons

  • I saw him open for Etta James at Dallas House of Blues in April 08.

    He is absolutely Sensational!!!!!!

  • Saw Tyler last month in Monterey and sent this cllp to some seasoned pros. I love this guy. He's got a vision - and a future. This is what I'm craving - and, ironically, it ends up coming from a younger generation. Whatever it takes. Go for it, Tyler! You've got it.

  • Went to see the documentary screening of "Rock Prophecies", which was about a rock photographer and a guitarist he thought was going to be the next star, which is Tyler Bryant.

This kid is impeccable, especially if you hear the whole story behind him.

  • great player but he should cut his emo hair haha

  • This guy is great. Does he have an album out?

  • @zeppelin1996 He's from my home town Honey Grove, TX. I haven't seen his album in stores, other than the convenience store there. I'm sure it is by now, but I'm overseas. It's called Born In Texas.

  • this is amazing, Tyler Bryant is not afraid to go where few people ever have using the guitar. it feels like he is bringing back that classic rock feel and people will love it.

  • so yesterday im walking into the seattle music and art festival bumbershoot to go watch the rockstar vert ramp and I get sidetracked by a rock riff in the distance. I investigate and I see tyler bryant starting their show. Never heard of him before but now im a fan. He can flat out PLAY. his solos were great. Great stage presence and a good showman too. Cant wait to see what this guy does in the future

  • idk if im blind or what but it looks like hes using his pinky to me jclev99 and your fucking dumb anyways you prob never even picked up a guitar and your telling someone thats 18 that is sponsored by fender that opens for a heart concert go fuck your self fucking hater

  • No pinky man, he's got the blues claw goin' on!

  • 1:10

*bass player takes off the backstage pass*

Watch out! Its time to get serious!!

  • lmfaoooo

  • this kid is amazing and only 18. my son started

playing guitar (road worn) after seeing tyler play

in nashville. cant wait to see how is talent evolves!!!

  • Check out Philip Sayce he is the real deal.

  • freaking awesome guy. saw him as a opening of a heart concert on Aug. 14 at a missouri state fair.

  • he is god. bud have he some song witch is to remember..or some melody from him. not.

maybe in future in some couple of years..

  • Wanna be great?

    Start using that pinky

  • Wanna be great?

practice instead of telling the kid who's already sponsored by Fender to change his playing.

  • Good one.

  • super cool band. nothing like this out there. forget slash. this is the next young guitar hero!!!

  • Tyler's band is S0 good.

one of my top 3 def.

watching them on this video does not give them justice enough.

and Tyler is an amazing musician, but he is an even better stage performer.

not to mention that Tyler and Calvin are some of the nicest guys ive ever met from any band so far.

<3 to The Tyler Bryant band.

    Raleigh, NC

  • This kid is sick. Saw him play at The Mint in LA.

Rocked the place. The place was filled with Record Exec's.

    He is the real deal.

  • i said him how to play this

  • not really my style, not everyone wants to hear that all over the place stuff. but he is really talented and good at what he does.

  • Tyler Bryant is Amazing! sooo much talent, idc what anyone says

  • davy knowles is a good player but he tends to be boring and his shows go on and on. no excitement there. Sayce and Bryant are exciting and are the full package.

  • he's ok. by no means a guitar god or one of the best guitarists around. if you want to see a future guitar god/one of the best guitarists alive check out davy knowles. now he is a future guitar god

  • for me his good...

but i will be the next GUITAR GOD..!!

  • Very impressive, great tone, great feel.

Hehe, makes me wish I had picked up the guitar at age 7.

  • pretty good player, incredibly boring!

  • you are out of your mind. jealously is not very becoming. pretty good player? this kid is one of the best players alive. i have a pretty good idea who wrote this. lespaul76 has an agenda or needs to get his eyes and ears fixed!

  • Its called the blues my friend

  • cool... i'm from honey grove 2 and i can play electric guitar(but not as good as you)

  • oh yeah

theres a cat named wes jeans from east texas that is in his mid twenties. he can melt one down as well. if you ever get a chance, be sure to check this dude out

  • Seen him Sunday night in Dallas also. He blew the place up before B.B. took over. He's got killer vibrato. Only 18 and opening for the King. Hung out with him out back at BB Kings bus for a while. Very quiet and shy, but can play the hell outta guitar. He's gonna be big, just give him some years under his belt.

  • hey extreme,

were you not impressed with his humble attitude and overall good nature. really a sweet, unpretentious kid

  • Oh man you know I was. Just chilling with him you would never know that he is so awesome. Great person.

  • as a 30 plus year blues guitarist and someone whose good friends with this kid, i can tell you that he will be huge. heard roosevelt twitty, old timer who played with muddy, hendrix, you name them tell me that tyler's the best he's ever heard. give him a little more time to live life. he will be one of the greatest

  • Yeah, I was there in Dallas too. It was a good show. This video is OK but doesn't do it justice.

  • saw this guy last night at House of Blues in Dallas....he opened for B.B. King. this kid is PHENOMENAL!!!! a future great!

  • i wonder where he gets his hair done, it like looks dirty but really cool

  • Can't wait to see him with Heart this summer!

  • Nice playing

  • it's is a fender road worn?

  • Comment removed

  • thats andy timmons playing bass! haha

  • No, that's Tony Franklin of The Firm, and Blue Murder fame.

  • but it does look like him

  • I've know Tyler since he was 13. Every time I see him he just gets better and better. WATCH! In 6 months from NOW, he will be a HUGE STAR!

  • I'm inclined to agree. I just saw him a couple of hours ago in Amarillo. This guy is phenomenal. Years from now, he'll be part of countless "who's the best guitarist, ever?" debates. I'm glad I met him tonight because someday I'm sure I'll brag about it.

  • He is pretty amazing. He's the whole package. Pretty exciting to see someone like this getting their start.

  • For the newer blues-artists he's definitely one of the better ones!

I think he'll be the future of blues together with Joe Bonamassa (hell of a guitarist!!!), Philip Sayce (ex-guitarist of Jeff Healey, also a killer-band, and now solo) and wel... john mayer...

  • Wow!..great band too!

  • i really like this dudes style and vibe and that killer texas tone i gotta see this kid live, he needs to hook up with tommy castro and get the hell yo to youngstown, ohio next week

  • awesome sound from that fender road worn strat....wow

  • Pretty sure it's a custom shop.

  • No its a Road worn. Look at the distinctive wear pattern that they all have, and he's listed as one of the artists that use one

  • It's a Fender Road Worn 60's strat

  • Great bass playing too, whatever your name is!!

  • Wow! Nice! I gotta admit, I didn't much like your rendition of Foxey Lady, but this tune shows that you are much better than that. Really nice tune, tasty chops. Nobody ever plays Foxey Lady correctly anyway! Can't wait to hear what you do in the future!

  • I've never heard of this cat. But if he's help keeping electric blues alive, play on young buck!!

  • wow!!! hes amazing

  • This would sound awesome with an organ.

  • Sick Tone. Awesome.

  • Awesome guitarist, love his style and sound,i like this cat.

  • Smokin' hot!!

  • you got a super good eye for guitar players!,thanks!.

  • This kid rocks! I just picked up one of those Road Worn Strats and it sounds killer.

  • Wow Id Love to see a DVD release of this whole event, so Fender if you see this post, you know what to do. haha

  • That Bassist rocks. Well he drives the show and doesn't distract from the song. Sick of busy bass boys.. The drummer is good and I wish he were a bit more proactive with his kick drum in a few key places. But good like Rage.. Maybe this is a pick-up gig for him? Tyler is a great Strat player. He sticks to the classic strat tones which I dig now and have ever since seeing Jimi play many moons ago. Great talents-bass included. Go Tyler. Turn it up man..

  • I like how he uses a light and airy soloing technique to complement the strat's sound.

  • Oh my God.

  • I was lucky enough to see this performance live and it was great. when he first started playing there was a small crowd, by the end, the place was packed! what a talent!

  • If he has worked with Steve Lukather, he must be good. SL is one of the very best ever.

  • Irrelevantly,Olympic White is the only solid colour I like on Stratocasters.

  • monster

  • Tyler is nothing short from amazing. And what awesome bass lines! By the way I think that Strat is the new Road Worn...

  • a bit boring bass line tho

  • second song i thought the bass is great, the first one i didnt even relly pay attention :D

  • Second.

  • #~Awesome
