  • Nice children's song with and adult video.

    Too bad

  • at 2.53 is that Veronica Moser?

  • @policemanandrew shite ... I hope not

  • Met one of the composers of the original version of this song back in the 70s in Sussex, England. They also wrote "Lord of the Dance".

Every time I go to Wal-Mart, I am naturally reminded of this song's refrain, when I see the herd waddling the aisles there!

  • STILL A LOT OF SHITE !! IF THIS AMUSES YOU GOD HELP REAL COMEDY !!!!

  • Twelve big boomers

  • @hylander611 Um ....six white boomers.

  • @TheGav7749 Awww, you're confused ... you think the mud's shite cos it's brown ... and I AM SURE that the Australians are pretty damn glad you are not one of them, ha ha ha

  • @Rikkyhardo 'fraid your wrong about Rolf ... he was born 30 March 1930 in Perth, Western Australia

  • What's Australia got to do with it? It is a Pommie song, by Flanders & Swann. Rolf isn't Australian either.

  • @TheGav7749

You are a prime example of precisely what is wrong in the world today. Too many people looking for things to be offended by and not enough having fun and taking things in a light hearted vein like they were meant to be. Political correctness is a slaves collar and the sooner you realize it and take it off the better off you and the world will be.

  • @gamewizard

Well said ... as Sebastian Vettle F1's Champion this year would say, That's what I'm talking about!

  • @TheGav7749 G'day mYte. You shouldn't be ashamed of your fellow country women, myte. G'day.

  • @whathewants1 because there is a £$?!@!!!-ing BBC1 photo of course silly.

  • @whathewants1 because there are hippo's circling the BBC1 photo

  • Two corrections:

    1. Hippopotamuses, not hippopotami

    2. That's not mud.

  • hihì_AÑÿ0NÊ_wãñÑä_chàt_with_mÊ_ì_feËl_sÖ_lônelY_tôÐãý

  • Did they use part of this song on the Adventures of Reginald Perron?Whenever he thought of his mother in law they played a clip of the tune. funny stuff.

  • @Rikkyhardo amazing i had no clue it was around for that long

  • @TheTrafiz Yeh, 2 guys called Flanders and Swan wrote and sung it in those days

  • @Rikkyhardo Yes, and Flanders & Swan weren't all that "old" when they performed this song. It just seemed that way if you were a kid. : )

  • This so "Rolfy" version of one of my fav F&S tunes was a great thing to hear.

Thanks for putting it up R.

Interesting how the stills got more "earthy" towards the end... :-)

  • @apurdam

    Thanks for your comment

I must admit that I thought more than twice about placing the earthy ... or shall we say muddy images (just having a quick snigger *that's a snorty giggle to those that have never heard of the word before*) But touch wood, no persons have taken offence as of yet, and it's getting a fair few views

  • lmfao!

  • around almost 2 months after my first listening

i still look at this video every morning before i start working ;)

  • @xp1986 Wow mate ... is it that you like Hippos, mud, the song or Rolf Harris ;~) ???

  • @Rikkyhardo lol, Well To be honest , i love the song. And what i find even cooler is that i fell on this video totally randomly ;) ( Sorry , my english is not perfect :p)

But like they say in France : " Le hasard fait bien les choses" ( look for translation ;p)

  • The transaltion for all the British according to Babel Fish is * The chance makes the things well* which, I guess means *Luck is healing* ??? lol

  • @Rikkyhardo don't you mean "As luck would have it"..... did you look it up word by word?

  • @Silvie403 no, I just put the phrase into Babel Fish translator and that's what came out ... thanks for your translation, it makes sense now

  • The joy of YouTube strikes once more in introducing me to a fantastic reinterpretation of one my all-time favourites from two of the like (F&S) and by another of the same ilk (Rolf). I never even knew of it. My heartfelt thanks.

  • YouTube contains so much entertainment and information, it certainly is one of the best sites on the internet ... have you seen some of the other Rolf interpretations of classic songs? There are quite a few on my channel, why not have a gander?

  • 0:50 hippos!

  • 0:11 I Couldn't stop laughnig first time I heard it. And I still can't stop today !!!

Thank you very much Rikkyhardo =)

  • the pitchers are umm interesting?

  • I appeared on 'Rolf On Saturday' a kids TV program in the early 70's......

Its a bit of a tall order but does anybody know how/where I can get this footage or even if they exsist anymore being so long ago???

    Any ideas anybody????

  • great song but some of the pics are fairly disturbing lol

  • I said that ... in the write up for the song on the right of the page poddy ... and it was on saturday mornings on the kids radio programme I am sure ... and thanks for your thanxx whirlpoolzend

  • It was originally a music hall song sung by Flanders And Swann. That version used to be on the radio on Sunday mornings.

  • Thanks for posting Rikky!

  • i remember this song in primary school

  • hippos eat people O.o (seriously)

  • not very often if they catch u they'll probably just tred on u and die that way , but i suppose they cud eat u

  • no, they don't eat people, they're vegetarian! maybe they BITE people...it's different : P

  • Doesn't make much difference with a mouth that big.You may not be digested, but your still likely dead.

  • oh, it's true xD

  • @ghettopenguin92 Hippos do kill more people than any other animal in Africa (except us humans) each year, but they don't eat people. Hippos are not carnivores.

  • @ghettopenguin92 yep, they kill more people in Africa each year then crocs. There's a reason Steve Erwin, the guy who'd jump on a croc as soon as look at one, wouldn't get anywhere near a hippo.

  • @ghettopenguin92 They don't eat people; they're obligate vegetarians. But they certainly do kill people; those cold chisel shape, bowling pin sized teeth of theirs are for the whole and sole purpose of putting cold chisel shaped, bowling pin sized holes in intruders. Like humans.

  • I love this song! Such fond childhood memories

  • Is Hippopotami the female form or a made up word??

Whatever the answer, one has to love Rolf. What a showman!!!!

  • Hippopotami is the collective term for a load of hippopotamuses ... of which I don't think is corect ... that's hippopotamuses is the wrong word ... I think ;-)

  • @policemanandrew "Hippopotamus" is Latin for "horse of the river" (or "river horse") and the Latin plural for a "-us" word is "-i," so the correct zoological term is "hippotami." But in common street usage, "hippopotamuses" has become more common for us Americans (and maybe Brits too). "Hippopotamuses" also became popular via the Gayla Peavey song "I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas."

  • i used to singthis with my grandad ^_^ good memories

  • i luv hippos!

  • I remember this song from an episode of Play School when I was little!!

  • very funny

  • Baby hippo at end was so cute.

    Mud:- tiger feet?

    Now there's an idea ............

  • always thort hippos were massive
