People need to stop calling animal abuse. Snake dancing requires a spiritual connection with your serpents. Your serpents need to trust you and have a bond before they let anyone handle them like that. The dancer is well trained in handling the serpent and makes sure she uses slow, fluid movements so the serpent doesn't get startled. The snake won't get dizzy if the handler knows the proper way to hold a snake while spinning.
Having worked with a lot of snakes, I can tell by their body language whether they are stressed or not. The dancer handled it very well throughout the performance, supporting its body evenly, so it was content and relaxed.
@ Giingerl3read: I think it is a young(ish) boa constrictor
OK...I can see a couple of views on snake handling here. First of all, a well mannered snake (such as a boa constrictor) will not strike very readily at all. These snakes can sustain a lot of discomfort and dancing with loud music and quick motions is sure to be somewhat upsetting for a snake.
On the other hand, it is true that dancers who work with snakes spend a lot of time taking care of these animals and they often treat them like fellow dancers and not props! I can see both sides...
Honestly I get tired of the poor snake comments. If the snake cared, he'd bite her. Bellydancers with snakes often go through ALOT to keep their snakes healthy, and do in fact care about and respect them. If the snake was upset it would bite her, it honestly doesn't care.
I didn't like this dance very much either, but Belladonna is definitely not suffering from lack of skill or a muffin top. Watch her other videos, people. She is very beautiful and very talented.
If you dance the right way the snake most likely won't mind, and by the way snake dancing is an ancient form of bellydancing, so if all your doing is coming to these videos to complain then why watch them?
come someone explain how its possible to tell that a snake loves being spun around infront of an audience? im sure it probably doesnt enjoy it...
maybe she should learn to dance better and not use that poor snake who has no idea whats going on as an eye catching device to distract from her lack of skill.
@Dementrius I think she is a great dancer but she should spin less and connect with her snake more. This should be a duet and not a dance with the snake as a prop.
@Dementrius You don't know anything about this art or the bond between dancer and snake. And a dancer will never disrespect or mistreat her snake. Also Belladonna is very skilled, obviously movements have to be slow and small to keep the snake calm. The snake is very heavy too. Maybe you should research belly dance with snakes before you say anything like that.
Belladonna, I am wondering who sings this version of Trust In Me??? It certainly isn't Selena Gomez... I likes it A LOT!

I agree. What makes some people think snakes were put on the earth for our entertainment?

How true. I thought it was over the top, uneccessary and too indulgent, with too little talent.
Mindless and stupid performance.

Why is dancing with snakes so erotic?
I am not questioning that IT IS. That IT IS for me. Just why IS IT?

Must be the whole phallic shape. Combine that with a half-naked woman shaking her ass and, well... :D

I am guessing the reason that dancing with snakes is so erotic because the dancer is an belly dancer
