I think you should look at Ronaldo's technique a bit closer mate, you are doing totally the wrong technique, yes he hits it on the valve, yes he stands directly behind it, but he does not hit it with that position on his foot, he hit it higher on the boot nearer to the actual sock, locking his foot and lifting it up to left when coming through, soo take more notice!

This is a REALLY BAD TUTORIAL.

1. HE TIP TOES BEFORE HE HITS IT.

2. HE DOES NOT HIT IT WITH THE LACES STRAIGHT, HE HITS IT BETWEEN THE LACES AND THE INSIDE OF HIS FOOT.

3. IT'S REALLY WEIRD AND THE ONLY THING HE HAS RIGHT IS THAT IT'S HARD TO MASTER LOL.

4. THE BALL CURLS OUTWARDS AND DIPS, SO HITTING IT WITH THE LACES IS JUST A REGULAR SHOT.
