Even though I think Gunbuster is much better, Diebuster was a good sequel. The first three episodes were underwhelming, but once I saw that classic Space Monster ship class on Titan I knew shit was going down. The twist ending alone made this amazing, and I recommend anyone who wants to see this should see Gunbuster beforehand, if they already haven't. Makes this series all the more enjoyable. ^_^

if you want to fully understand Diebuster (Gunbuster 2) you should first watch the intial Gunbuster produced by Gainax in the earliy 90s. although the first one kidna sucks imo.

Actualy, To Love-Ru was made way after this anime appeared, Top wo Nerae! 2 is from 2003, while To Love-Ru manga is from the 2006. In other words, Lala could be inspired from this character.

And regarding that comment about this series being sexfilled, apart from some fanservice (really scarce), it's mainly about fights n' robots, it's the basis of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann after all...
